Ever moved country?

I did, about a month and a half ago. I live in France now, I'm a teacher. I'm going home for the first time tomorrow and it's weirding me out. I love it here. I have lovely new drinkers to call my own, and the atmosphere is just better. I find myself nostalgic for all things Scottish and British, but at the same time, it's just a passing feeling; I feel like it should be more than that, like I should place more value in familiarity. And of course my friends and family, but that's a whole different scene.

I moved from Illinois to Georgia, then from there to Wisconsin. It's kind of like a different country. And I guess I "moved" to Iraq and back twice, but I dunno if we could count those.

I think I'd be alright with a massive culture change like that, honestly. I mean, the language change I wouldn't be good with, seeing as I'm only fluent in one language, but otherwise I think I'd be alright. I've moved around a lot, and I've learned how to adjust quickly and adapt to new situations -- so it'd probably be weird for a week or two, but after that, it would just become more and more interesting, exploring a culture that I'm not used to.

I have lived in Florida my whole life. In fact, I have lived in four places in Florida, with a combined distance of about three hours. However, I will be moving to Cardiff, Wales immediately upon graduating.

I've moved around a lot in my lifetime too, and to be honest I had almost no trouble adapting to life in France. I fell in love with it the day I arrived, when two lovely colleagues came to get me and made me feel so unbelievably welcome. And they cook like gods. Only trouble I've had is with Mrs. Rent, my landlady, who speaks the local dialect (which is half-German) at about 500mph. But even she had me round for dinner.

The thing that's getting me is that I feel I don't miss home enough. I know feelings aren't like balloons, you can't measure how they shrink or grow; but I just can't help thinking that something is missing. Maybe I'll understand it once I'm home. I leave for my train to Aberdeen in 10 hours.

James, for the love of God, don't move to Cardiff. Wales is a shithole, and they don't speak English there. Drunk women get naked in the streets of every single British city every single weekend. Don't limit your choice.

Not yet. I've only moved once and that was from a suburbian town to a bush town. Which itself is very different. I have no town water here. At the same time though it's only fourty minutes away from my old house. So hardly a move.

In April I am moving to England though. That's a big move. I think I will miss home though. Not in a 'I want to go back badly' way, but there will probably be things I will miss.

I think it is normal to enjoy the new place more than the old. I think because everything is new and interesting it's more exciting than the old. I mean if I have having lots of fun and enjoying all of my time in England, I wouldn't miss Australia. That is worded really awkwardly. I know what I want to say but I can't put it into words. Sorry!

I've never moved but once. (Not counting moving into a dorm) I moved to my house in Louisville. Eventually I was forced to sell it for peanuts and recoil back into the sickening embrace of my Parents' ranch. I'm moving back to Uni this spring. I've never moved even from state to state. Good luck in France, Gov. Say "hi" to my countryman, Johnny Depp. I hear he lives there these days.

growing up in a military family I was constantly on the move when I was about seven my father who was in the navy was stationed in Japan for about six months then soon after he was stationed at Hawaii let's of awesome places but such a horrible childhood always moving and shit it sucked balls...
