    Conspiracy Theories

    Conspiracy Theories

    The Moon landing hoax?

    The 'Paul is dead' conspiracy?

    Some sort of Illuminati conspiracy?

What do you think about conspiracy theories? There seems to be no shortage of them - from 9/11, to the creation of a New World Order*, but are any believable?

I see them as a little bit of fun, such as the Paul is dead conspiracy. I think the Beatles decided to play into the hands of conspiracy theorists with this one, and I do enjoy looking at my dad's Beatles LPs to try and decipher all the apparent 'codes' hidden in them (including the lyrics, in songs such as I Am The Walrus).

But at other times it can be harmful. There's just no way that 9/11 was a government conspiracy, and to suggest that is ultimately counter-productive and won't advance anything.

So what is your favourite conspiracy theory, or maybe you want to share one that you think is real? This would be the time to do it.

*Which people don't even understand; see Richard Falk's World Order Model Project (WOMP) for an explanation of what a 'New World Order' would entail.

I totally watched a documentary on the history channel in my old Biology Class about the Moon Landing. It really convinced me that it was fake at the time. There was a lot of interesting evidence. Some of the things I remember:

-The flag in the video on on the moon was blowing, how is there wind in space where there is no Gravity? No atmosphere at that. It was clearly "blowing" not sure if that's possible in space or not.
-The "cross hatch" thing (sorry, don't know what it's called) used to center pictures when taking them was actually behind an object in the photo.

EDIT: YouTube - Lunar Legacy Episode 1, Part 2 (Did we land on the moon?) This is pretty nuts.

-It also discussed how the lighting on the moon during the shot was completely wrong.

Just some stuff I remember, not saying it's true but it definitely caught my attention.

I've never heard of the "Paul is dead" conspiracy before.

I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

I heard once that the flag 'blowing' on the Moon was because some genius worked out that springs (sewn into the edges) would still work on the Moon. I've also heard a 'solar wind' story, but I'm not sure if solar wind is anything like actual wind.

The 'Paul is dead' conspiracy is that Paul McCartney (the bassist for the Beatles) died in a car accident in 1966, and was replaced by a look- and sound-alike. I find it absurd, but many of their albums seemingly allude to something strange:

In Revolver (best Beatles album btw), Paul is the one looking sideways (can only see one eye), and above his head there is a tiny man doing the 'open palm' symbol.

All the post-1966 have been subject to this scrutiny, and they're quite fun to look at as a result, especially if you have acress to the LPs, because they're so large.

If you want more information on this conspiracy theory, check this site out.

Yeahhhh, thanks for the nightmares Alpha, that Free as a bird decapitated head thing just scared the **** out of me. I would say I don't doubt it, far too many of the same sneaky clues going on. Also, I don't think it would be unusual for them to replace Paul, not that I'm saying that's normal but, The Beatles were at their peak and losing Paul would most likely screw them.

I don't know, Maybe people are just looking into it far too much for their own good.

I was browsing a little and wanted to find something about facial feature differences and found this: Paul Really Is Dead: Part 1 of Facial Comparison: Getting A Reference.

    Just thought I'd share. I don't know.

Oh pullease. He has the same weird uneven eye thing going on even in his younger pics. Even has the same lips.. same nose.. same cheekbones..same jaw line..same nosebridge Wow, where'd they get this look-alike? He must be his twin! Like.. Completley-the-same-facial-features twin.

Compare and contrast. Of course, he's older now. Yes. People change with age.

I think people are looking into it a little TOO hard and warping things, if you ask me. They have conspiracies for everything.. like how our televisions have cameras in them and how our radios record us talking.

I try to be sceptical about these things. Just like I don't believe anything that's 'proven', I don't necessarily believe anything that is disproven. I love conspiracy theories, but they have to make sense and sadly, they're almost always coming from some nutjobs who don't know what they're talking about.

The moonlanding is something I'm not sure about. There are a lot of elements in the 'proof' that make it hard to believe it's all real. The shadows that go in different ways, the time of their jumps that doesn't fit the actual moon gravity and all that. There's also the logic that if it's so easy to go to the moon in the early 60's, why has no one but the US ever gone to the moon. Why are scientists saying that the radiation you'd have to pass to go to the moon is potentially deadly and would make an astronaut seriously ill?

But then again, why would Russia acknowledge the moon landing of their biggest competitor during the Cold Ward?

It's odd that planning a moon trip takes so much time to plan nowadays, when it was all so simple in the 60's. India is planning to send a man to the moon, and it's strange that those preparations are way out of proportion compared to those of NASA in the 60's. Especially considering these modern times.

I think there could have been a moon landing, but a part of all the 'proof' is fake.

As for the Paul McCartney conspiracy: Absolute rubbish.

I'm not sure what a dollar note has to do with the Illuminati, but I'm not intrigued enough to look up anything about that. If the theory is that they have a plan to take over America (/the world?), I'd say it's definitely possible, but that doesn't mean they still exist let alone that they would succeed.

I'm fairly interested in SKull & Bones though, but I don't have a problem with that little elite club of Yale students.

EDIT: And damn, I thought I was typing in the ID forum. I could have just said 'fuck conspiracy theories! I'm taking over the world myself'.

They didn't prove anything. They tested certain arguments like the flag moving, and it turned out to be absolutely normal.

Plus, is an entertainment show the authority on moon landing now?

I am convinced that Americans did land on the moon, simply because so many of them were involved in it. There is no way that many people (even if those in the control room were being lied to as well) can keep a secret that big. Imagine how much money it would be worth to the Russians, or even just the media, or any of the then-President's enemies, to reveal something like that with conclusive proof.

Paul McCartney being dead is just wishful thinking.

I've watched tons of documentaries on conspiracy theory's and I must admit that I own a little collection of such documentaries but frankly I find most of them to be stupid and highly unbelievable although there are some that cough my attention, but still I'm rather skeptical.

The one that caught my attention is 9/11, why? Well, i do study civil engineering and there are some things that don't make any sense. Steel melting would be one of those things, there is no way that such explosion could cause steel to melt, at least not without additional help. I watched a documentary about the structure of Word Trade Center, and if it's true that it's made that way than it should withstand even stronger impact without crashing like a castle of cards. I really don't care is American government involved or not but from a engineer view there are plenty of discontinuity in that event.

I remember the conspiracy theory about the moon landing. I've read into it, spoke with my friends and uncle, and even watched the Mythbuster videos on it.

I agree with what Govinda said here. With that amount of people, a secret is hard to stay secret.

A cretin is some one who is stupid ..i was just poking fun at myself!!!

And no an entertainment show is not an authority on consiracy theories.

However the show did test some of the consipracy theories such as the :

"the flag looks like it is being blown by the wind but there is no wind in space"

So they went to nasa and put a flag in a chamber that has the same conditions as the moon and proved that because there is no gravity to stop the swinging moton of the flag then that is what causes it to look like it is being blown by the wind.

Not saying this is concrete evidence of the fact just saying that although and entertainment show they still bring about some good evidence!!

i dunno im no good at this

I never said they didn't... I'm not sure why you're still going on about this. I though I made it clear that I have seen that particular episode.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Counter-productive to what? What won't advance? What leads you to believe that whatever you believe won't advance has a progress scale in which advancing is possible?

No, this doesn't add up at all. Who are you working for? The Russians? The CIA? Both? What are you conspiring to!?

Considering the Paul is dead theory, maybe its a good thing Paul died as the Beatles sucked before 66. Im skeptical about the moon landings as in 40 years technology has advanced so much and yet the Americans are not capable of landing on the moon now. 40 YEARS LATER for christs sake.

I meant that it's a waste of time suggesting that it was the US government in partnership with aliens (I've actually heard this one) because people need to heal from the event, and not just the families of workers and firefighters. In addition, someone needs to be taken to justice for it. Etc. I was just trying to say that developing a conspiracy about such a tragedy is pointless.

You guys ever listen to Coast to Coast with George Noory? They talk about all kinds of stuff, and a lot of it is about aliens, conspiracies, the supernatural, etc. It's really interesting to hear these ideas that people have about reality; what they believe to be true. It's also interesting, because George Noory entertains all of these ideas, and some of them seem like they would be contradictory or incompatable in nature. The best is when he talks about demons and shadow people.

I haven't really thought about the conspiracies you've brought up, Alpha, except the Illuminati. That one is a little interesting to me, as are the Free Masons and the Skull & Bones. I've listened in a lot about these, although a lot of the information seems to have gone in one ear and out the other (probably because I don't hold all that much stock in these ideas)... Which one is the group where the higher up you get, the more information you learn, and the less likely you are to be allowed to leave the group alive? Wasn't that the Illuminati? Or am I thinking of Scientology? Maybe neither. But stuff like that is my favorite. Anyhoo...

I've seen several things on history channel from The Masons, to the moon landing. Even Pauls dead. And the one thing that keeps emerging is you see these people with giant beards or people who still live in their moms basement with these giant plots on how this happened. Or some regular looking guy with a credible career correcting what they said and had the info wrong. Which is usually the case.

As far as I'm concerned the only conspiracy I've learned is true is the Comedian did assassinate JFK. Thank you Watchmen.

  22. #22
It was the US Gov that did assassinate JFK though wasn't it?

Wasn't there a big documentary about it on discovery confirming all responsible only never to be aired again?
