    Comedy-Funny Joke and When is the Line Drawn

    I want to talk about what is funny between you and some of the new friends you guys have made. The reason I said new friends is because your old friends know when the line is drawn and the joking should stop, but your new friends most likely do not. Now back to the topic I want to know when you start to get annoyed at people or when the line is drawn and the joking stops and it starts to get personal in a sense?

    Now I will not tell you mine, well not yet at least I want see what you guys say first. I want to see were I stand with you guys and how far I can joke with some of you because I don’t want myself or anyone else on this forum to insult each other or cross that line. I do hope that all of this makes sense and one more thing if this has already been done, and I checked, but if it has and I am sorry.

    First things first i welcome you to the forum.

    I am usually pretty easy going not much offends or annoys me it depends on what mood i am in lol One thing i suppose that would p*** me off would be bagging out my wife and kids in a personal way and as i don't really give away to much personal stuff about my fam that is hard to do so you should be safe, any general stuff i just laugh or brush it aside i am very easy going.
    But if you were to cross the line im sure i would let you know lol as any of the members would here.lol

    I can be easy going *coughs*, but I have my moments when I will bite back harder than I entended to in the first place. Of course, I rarely mean what I say - just a heat of the moment thing that can really hurt someone. It been happening quite a lot of late too... ^^;;

    Mostly, if someone takes a joke too far with me, I'll try laughing it off, or changing the subject. When I told my friends at college I was open minded about sexuallity, some guy Ali turned it into a joke, and kept asking me which girl I thought was hotter. I wasn't too comfortable being asked this because it was quite hard telling them in the first place. So I laughed it away, and once or twice turned it around on him and asked him who was. Then, after about a day of that bullshite, I snapped and said something I shouldn't have about him being rejected in the school libery TWICE in one week. Haha... you should have seen his face - he had nothing to say.

    So yeah. When people cross the line, I'll snap back - sometimes twice as hard, sometimes a lower blow, but I know how far I can be pushed.

    When it comes to joking with others - I know when enough is enough. I start to feel guilt when I see the look in the persons eyes, which tells me the joke is over. I won't push it, unless it is my brother. Today, I turned around to Priya and said she was like a 10 year old with a boyfriend - too clingy and squeaky and shy. I saw the look in her eye, and stopped. Though me and Cem found it funny.

    If a new friend crosses the line in a joking manner I usually will let it roll off my back. It usually takes nothing more than a short silent period or disgusted look from me to let someone know that what they said was not appropriate in my eyes. Jokes are there to make you laugh though; so I don't get too uptight about it. I understand I can very well make those mistakes when I am with a new comer.

    If they say something extremely racist or sexist, and that is how they really feel...like their race being superior...etc. I would definitely take some time to debate if I want to be around someone like that. As an extremely tolerant person I try to steer clear from those who are not as open minded...so as not to bring me down.
