I'm not trying to hate on anyone, especially Meier which closed my much-needed to be closed thread, I just want to get that out in the clear.

But closing threads is a form of censorship, is it not? What does censorship do? It protects "ignorance" (which is bliss, I get it).

The only reason to censor things is because people will take things offensively. If nobody was offended by anything, and they still had an opinion (without getting angry), why would you need censorship?

Let's look past the "kids are 12, they don't need to know the F word, but they can play Call of Duty with me."

Threads are closed when they break the rules, people are having petty bickering sessions, everyone's yelling over everyone else's heads, or when you/Block make 100 threads in one night as you do in a bi-monthly period-type situation.

Not hatin' either. I kind of enjoy them. But I totally get where the moderators are coming from. And if I was one, I'd do the same.

I definitely agree with you, 100%. I'm not saying every single topic should stay open for eternity. I was more trying to get at what censorship is about, inspired by Meier closing my thread (which was justified!), and I was just wondering about the topic in general.

You both are two of my favourite users on here. So outspoken, I wish everybody was like that, then there would be no need for censorship, everyone would just say "This is my opinion" rather than becoming heated and going on a rant.

I wouldn't consider the closing of threads a form of censoring because they're still open to view. Also, the motive behind closing threads only revolves around a broken rule, like Alpha said.

Rules are put in place to not be followed. That's a fact.

The closing of threads is a form of oppression. It limits and halts the freedom of speech, and can therefore be defined as an act of fascist dictation. Whoever closes threads and oppresses defenseless people who must abide by "rules," is a communist.

This forum, and the people who run and regulate it support the blatant expansion of fascist communism, and it is not right. I believe in democracy and equal rights for everybody; even for the blacks and the hermaphrodites.

Anybody who feels the need to censor things should just rename themselves Adolf Hitler.

It's a form of protecting people's freedom of expression... or freedom of stupidity. If someone is stupid, and they're called on being stupid, or doing stupid things, then it's a whole gigantic drama when it hits the boards. Half the board is always split, thinking that the stupid thing is stupid, while the other half either thinks it's awesome, or decides to defend it out of principle.

It largely depends on who posts, but more often than not, shit gets closed because someone kicked sand in someone elses vagina.

As for closing threads... sometimes we regret what we say or do when we're drunk. So a closing of some threads isn't all such a bad thing, amirite? No, but seriously. Some newer members might get caught up in them and take offence when they think everyone is being serious, instead of ignoring them and going outside for fresh air. Then people get warned, and people get butt hurt, and then... do I really need to explain? It happens.

The last time Rocky and I tried to bring that lost love back, we were hammered, with Meier, and he banned them as bots, meaning that technically both of us were IP banned as well... all because he wanted to teach us a lesson; not to be asses. I think I was kevin2gamer and Andrew was Tabithaaaaaaa.

It was about 3 minutes of drunken panic, but still comic gold to this day
