Before the "End of the Summer"...

For those who don't geddit, "End of the Summer" is a song... by Theory...

Anyways, I want to do something this summer! After my GCSEs, I NEED to do something! There is a girl in my class - a yuppie - said "Everyone goes ... blah blah blah... Its the exclusive place for all thos who just done GCSEs, blah blah blah... Its fantastic - EVERYONE is going... la di da da DA!" It anoys me when everyone is expected to do this one thing - are people that BORING!

I know that once my GCSEs are finished I want to get a part time job for the summer - to get me out of my PS3 dept, and to save some money to do something fun! But what?

This is where I need some help... what did you guys all do after your exams? Where did you go, what did you do? Was it fun? Boring? Even if you didn't do anything, what would you have done?

    Beach! Beach! Beach!

I'm planning to go there after my exams. With a bunch of my friends, just go out and chill on a nice beach. Just some relaxing stuff, really.

Also some sort of fun thing. Like, go to Cardiff for the day and do random shit.

Either way, I recommend you just have a blast with your mates, love Good luck on your exams (if you haven't already had them that is)

    Poland Poland Poland

I'm going for three weeks. £70 open return bus fare. FREE rock festivals all over the shop. Beer 50p a pint. Pack of fags for like £1. Grab yourself a translator and a tent, and you're off.

Or get a job. I need to get one, actually. Try to get someone to hire me while I'm spending a total of a month and a half in the local area, three weeks in Aberdeen, and the rest working for a paper. Shit. I love my overdraft, I really really really do.

Wait, how old are you? GSCE, that's 16 going on 17, right? Get the Megabus with your friends to a new city, and get yourselves properly lost for a few days. Always fun.

Should remove booze n fags reference on account of your age, but you need to learn about how glorious Poland works sometime, for future reference.

What did I do after exams? Well, considering I left school before exams, I sat at home and scoffed about everybody that was doing exams and spent the Summer playing on the PlayStation and being on the Internet.

Would I have changed it? Hell no. I had no money, what was there to do? I spent the whole Summer being productive in a way that won't matter in a couple of years.

Exams are boring right? So do something really stupid or fun. I haven't had any real exams yet, but I'll tell you what I do then. Here are some little ideas anyway!

Theme parks are nice. Roller coasters, food, crowds, and shows. Fun in every way.

So are beaches. Food, crowds, sand, water, and....sun. Usually fun in every way...unless you get sunburn and fry.

Maybe a whole day of crazy internet and gaming fun? The usual. Not too exciting, but fun nonetheless.

You could go on a trip to anywhere you want (provided you have the money). Urm, yeah.

Parties are a good way to blow off steam. Food, people, music, games, and mindless chatter. Fun because of the fact that crazy things usually happen.

Do anything you want really. Any of those are fun things to do. You'll have a lot of time too, so if you want, you can do all of them!

After my GCSEs and A-levels I spent the summer seeing friends, playing videogames, drawing, listening to music etc. All the things I enjoy doing. I was looking for a job but I grew up in a small town so competition for jobs was high so I didn't get anywhere. Getting a job now would be good to save up a bit of money as well as absorb the time, especially since now that I am in my first year of university it seems that you're overqualified or underqualified for jobs and it can be a pain to try and find one! I went to Cornwall with some friends after my A-levels, so you can organise a week or weekend trip somewhere? Cornwall is nice if you like beaches, rough waves, surfing and body boarding.

Hmm... I wasted my time to be brutal ha. I spent most of the summer trying to get a job and there wasn't much doing. I didn't have too much cash so we spent the rest just relacing, playing football and the like. Think I finished FFIX that summer too, the long hot (yeah, course they weren't hot) nights filled with Zidane-ness.

But yeah don't make my mistake. You shoud really try to enjoy what should be in essence the longest break of your life. Bleachie has some great ideas. Maybe get a summer project too. For example I have 17 weeks and 5 days until I venture back to the old MMU. Most of the nights will be spent working to earn a crust, some nights will be spent getting very drunk (bad idea - don't try it ) but during the day I plan to work on my garden. I've drawn up the preliminary architecture, got most of the planting, and the fountain should be ready in a month. It's just something that takes the stress out for me.

You'll think of something I'm sure
