    Battle scars

Oh, Battosai, what are you without those scars? I keep mistaking you for a girl. (scratch that last sentence.) So last night, I was going to watch 'the vampire diaries', but in my eagerness to open the plastic disc case, I scraped the skin from the edge of my thumb below the knuckle-joint. (most of my injuries occur during embarrassing moments such as this, what I wouldn't do for some REAL battle-won boo-boos) It was then that I got the idea for this thread.
Basically, give us your accidents. one scar per post, please. Pictures are unnecessary especially pertaining to rump-shots, but who doesn't like a good detailed account?

    Re: Battle scars

I have a scar on my left shoulder from a 2007-2006 fencing match. I was fencing this over-enthusiastic emo who was bringing every bit of anger he had and externalizing it into the match. I suck at Sabre fencing and this was before our Gym had really taken to the "Fleches are ILLEGAL in Sabre" rule.

Fleches are a complicated and delicate fencing move, where one holds out one's fencing weapon and runs like a charging bull at your opponent. His touch was good and hit me on my left ribs. The sabre bent...snapped and it stuck into my left shoulder. I stood for a second, stunned and turning white. I took off my fencing mask and noticed everyone was staring at me.

My jacket was red and I was a little wide-eyed and asked if I could sit down. They called an ambulance and I needed seven stitches. It still makes a pretty good story if I tell people I got the scar in a swordfight.

    PS:
I got to keep the sabre and fragment.

Sin thats a pretty epic story haha. Wish i had something as cool as that to tell.

I guess ill start with my largest scar. It came from my track & field days. I did the long jump event.
As you jump off the plank you are suppose to throw your entire body forward. Legs, arms, everything. Well i threw my legs in a pretty retarded fashion trying to just push my body as far as it would go. The right tip spike of my shoe ended up in my left calf or at least near it. As i landed it went in, and dragged down about 4 or 5 inches.

The team medic, or whatever you wish to call her, ran over. She just cleaned me up and told me to go to the hospital. Instead of stitches they gave me glue. Considering i would be out of practice for a few days they told me to not participate in P.E. and tie a bag around it in the shower.

    Re: Battle scars

I don't have cool stories about my scars. They're all from either landing on glass/mirrors when I was little, a dog biting me underneath my eye or burning myself on hair styling tools. Yesterday I earned myself a new one from being on Chicken side at work for the first time as Batch cooker. Bloody hurt as well, looks like a bubble.

I have a friend who has a scar on her face which looks ****ing awesome. She got it when she was younger, a mad accident happened when she was riding her bike and one of the handle bars went into her cheek, and the scar left behind looks like a crescent moon. She doesn't really like it but I love it, I think it looks really cool and adds great character to her face. I'd love to have a cool scar like that somewhere on my body.

Are you working at Maccies by any chance? I have a few scars on my fingers/lower arms from the very few times I have been in kitchen, and burning myself on the grill. Numerous other colleagues have scars from being touched by hot fry baskets. I accidentally caught one of my colleagues with a fry basket, and he has never let me forget it.

The first scar I remeber getting (since I have no epic stories like Sin's) is a small scar under my little finger on my right hand. I got it whilst messing around with my cousins, we were running around chasing each other in the living room, and I smashed my hand into my parents' cookie jar (they didn't actually use it as a cookie jar; they kept bags of change in it.) I went to the hospital and got three stitches.

Recently, I saw the same style of cookie jar in a charity shop, and I almost bought it, but by the time I had the money it had gone.

@Tallulah: Aye, been there for two months now, I hate it. lol

You reminded me of a scar on my left pinky I have, too. I got it from riding down a steep hill on my bike and pressing the breaks too early, I had a concussion an'all. I don't even remember the pain or anything but there was lots of blood apparently, and my brother had to carry me home with a sock wrapped around my finger lol.

    Re: Battle scars

One scar per post? ...Cool. I don't get time to multi-post in threads any more, let alone keep up with them. I only have two or three worth mentioning.

I have a scar about three inches long on my right calf. When I was little, I shared a room with my brother, and we had a bunk bed. A wooden peg holding one of the ladder's steps had snapped one day, leaving me without a climbable ladder. When I was at school, nan fixed it with a nail and some plaster (...idiot). I was non the wiser at that age, and was just happy I had my ladder back.

That night, as I was climbing into bed, that step broke again, dropping me to the floor. Me and my brother thought it was funny until I stood up and he started panicking - the nail had torn my flesh open in the fall, and blood was oozing from it. I was in shock from the fall, so I don't even remember feeling it, but I started to panic and cry and scream, and my mum came and took me to her room to inspect it.

Didn't need stitches. Just some iodine, strips, plasters and a week off school with my feet up to allow it to heal.

I've also been stabbed by a hot kebab skewer. It was a complete accident after walking into a friend at a BBQ. I felt the tip of it "pop" through my skin, and the pain was incredible. Thankfully, the meat on the skewer was cooked, and it didn't go in far or I might've been in a little more trouble. The scar is a round, raised dot just up and to the left of my belly button.

I've also had chicken pox. So I have a few scars around my body from that, but not very many. My face probably got the worst of it. I have one on my forehead, dead in the middle, which I don't actually remember having when I had the pox. After my six week summer holiday, my friend asked if I'd been shot in the head or something.

    Re: Battle scars

I only have two scars worth mentioning, the bigger one of no real consequence as it happen to be located on the top of my head, although it is obscured by hair. Suffice to say, some idiot opened a window at school just as I was walking past, so what I got was a five inch scar and fifteen stitches.

But the one that is probably the most relevant one to me is one I have on arm at the elbow. I was working at a building site at the time, and there was a piece of timber to mrk the edge of something. There was also a six inch nail sticking out of this timber, which caught me as I was carrying something past. As there were no taps or first aid kits, I just let it be and didnt wash it until a few hours later when I got home. Its only a three inch scar. Not impressive, I know. The only reason I pay it any heed is because I am amazed I didnt get tetanus, to be honest.

I do wish I had a cool facial scar though. I have probably been reading a bit too much delinquent manga.

I just happen to have one of those, but I'll save that story for later (wouldn't wanna crush the competition so quickly)
I was around nine years old when I stepped on some old candle holder thingy (basically a round dish with a sharp needle in the center for holding a candlestick) the needle went in pretty deep, but the adults of the house being absent, my medical team consisted of my siblings. After squealing in shock for several minutes while they panicked in unison around my reddening foot, I finally got tired of that, and, snapping at them like some medieval troll (or Cinderella's obnoxious sister in that slipper scene) I yanked the sucker out myself and spent the rest of the week in a state of contented smugness for that display of coolheaded bravery.

    Re: Battle scars

My brother was riding the 4-wheeler one day in the summer of 2002; and as he was going down the hill back to the house, he hit a patch of mud and started sliding at the wrong angle. The 4-wheeler then started flipping over all the way down the hill. Meanwhile, my Nana and Grandpa John had just arrived. Mom and I were welcoming them. Then we noticed the 4-wheeler rolling down the hill with my brother on it.

I ran ahead of everyone else and climbed over the fence, cutting the inner side of my right leg. I didn't even notice I did it because I was more worried about my brother. I flipped the 4-wheeler back over, and my brother climbed out from underneath it. Luckily, he came out unharmed. Then, as we started walking back, my leg gave out and I fell to the ground.

Everything is fine now. I have a five-inch scar on my leg from it. My leg works and everything, but it hurts now and then because of it.

I wrecked my dirt bike when I was like eight or nine. I have scars on my thighs from the gravel - I went over a small bump at the edge of my uncle's driveway and went airborne, but I didn't land very gracefully (obviously). I scraped up my left knee pretty badly, but my thighs are more visible. No, I really don't know how I managed to mark up BOTH of them; I gots skill.

    Re: Battle scars

I don't like scars, and I have a good reason for this. Because scars occasionally are accompanied by years of tooth pain. I once tripped and fell on a rock. One of my front teeth went through my bottom lip and chipped off. The rest of the tooth was pushed up into my gums. The resulting penetration of the tooth through my lip left a scar. There was blood everywhere, and I eventually, after ten years of suffering with a nearly dead tooth, including procedures such as a dozen root canals, I had to get it pulled.

I don't mind pain, but when it comes to pain in my mouth, I get really pissed off.

    Re: Battle scars

In true Scottish martyrdom fashion, the entire left side of my left leg is one big scar, as I set myself on fire. I was only 2 years old though so I'm sure I can be forgiven

Basically, I was in my living-room and my other brothers and sisters were at sleep-overs, and I got investigative (as toddlers do) and found a tin of my dad's deodorant. Then I proceeded to spray and spray it all over my left leg, and wandered round some more and found my dad's matches, sat down on the floor and managed to strike one, obviously got a fright when it broke into flame and dropped it onto my leg and ... well you get the picture. My mother heard me screaming, came through and started hyperventilating and snatched me up and ran through to the bathroom and dropped me into the bath and soaked me in cold water (big mistake, the cold water melded the pyjama bottoms onto my flesh). Ended up in hospital, had skin grafts after surgically removing my pyjamas from my leg, and the only thing I remember from the hospital (even though you're not supposedly able to remember anything from before the age of 4) was waking up to a glass of milk while on a bed being wheeled down the corridor.

I love my scars, especially that one, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to name all my scars in this post, or wait a while until I post my others?

    Re: Battle scars

No problem with ME, please do go on, this is fascinating. Am I weird or what? (Damon smile)
I suppose I've gathered enough suspense (I.E. no one cares) for the facial scar tale. The following incident occurred during my early childhood. Probably the first thing you gotta know is that I wasn't a girly girl. My big sisters were boring to me (bullies, too), so I'd always hang around my little brother instead A.K.A. Troublemaker, destroyer of peace, etc. This friendship was, needless to say, unpredictable. At any time the treaty could, and often was, broken without reason or warning.
That day the two of us had just finished a splendid late breakfast and had both wordlessly consented to a leisurely stroll through our mother's garden by means of a simple nod. The two of us having exited the house like the most civilized of duelers, I snatched an old can that had been lying around and chucked it, rather lightly at Troublemaker (Okay, perhaps I was one as well ). Never one to pass up revenge, Troublemaker snatched the can from the ground and hurled it back. As my mother tells it, she came outside to find her nasty little brutes bleeding and now unsuccessfully trying to strangle one another. Troublemaker's scar to this day is almost imperceptible. a light gash across the snout. Mine is a more visible, intersecting dual slice on the cheek.
P.S. The next day we were friends again and have been ever since.

When I was a kid I got a shovel (Yeah, go on, flinch ya girlies!) and started digging in my back yard (a favorite past-time) whilst humming some 'Care Bear' theme song or other and accidentally aimed more in the region of my foot than any dirt. My clumsy mis-thrust caused a fair amount of blood to spurt from my baby toe. For my injury, I was forced to stay home during the whole Christmas shopping trip. Now that was a bummer.

    Re: Battle scars

I actually have another scar I forgot to mention. Mainly because it's a very difficult to see one, and Clint talking about mouth pain reminded me.

When I was about three years old, I tripped over and went face first into some poles sticking out from the ground. The poles were long, metal tubes, with jagged edges where they'd just been sawed. Anyway, one of the poles went into my mouth, and stabbed into the roof of my mouth. Apparently I was knocked out, there was a lot of blood, my mum panicked beyond belief and was inconsolable, and I have a small, moon shaped scar behind my upper teeth.

I'm quite fortunate, really. That accident could have ended worse. I can sometimes feel the scar, and I can see it if I tilt my head all the way back.

I don't have any really good stories, but I have a good bit of scars on my right hand. All are from the grill acid that we used when I worked at McDonald's. I didn't properly get all of the grease off of the grill when I was closing it, and as soon as I started scrubbing the acid it pooped and bam acid all over my arm.

I have tons of scars but none of them are ridiculous or disfiguring or anything. My hands are pretty scarred up from work, cutting myself with knives because I was a klutz back in the day, and from the cold weather.

Seriously, when it's really cold out and my hands are dry, if I bump into anything sharp, the skin kinda just shears off. It's really gross, but now I use glorious moisturizer and it's much better.

I also have a few scars on my arms and legs from being stupid.

Thank goodness someone posted, I'd begun to think this site was all girls.
When I was a kid I was running around in a circle and bumped into a dining table. My nose received a light gash which is sort of still visible. (my mother henceforth cut the legs from the piece of furniture. and has only just recently begun allowing the use of tables again.)

    Re: Battle scars

My scar tales are very boring...since they all came from playing softball or play fights with my family. And most of them on my legs and knees(all of which are from softball). I do have one small scar on my left cheek where me and my cousin were fighting when we were kids. At the time he had really long nails and he raised his hand and tried to slap me,but I dodged the slap and got the nail instead. It's not very noticeable though.

    Re: Battle scars

I have 4 scars in total, i don't scar easily. I'm counting this as one btw i've had psoriasis since i was 14 or 15 so skin on my hands has been pretty screwed for a long time so that it is just a mass of tiny scars and crap disappointing really seeing as i only found out i had psoriasis about 3 weeks ago, eczema my ass.

Umm i have a small scar on my tongue from when i was very young and i was stood on the middle wooden part of my fence talking to my neighbour because i wasn't tall enough to see over it, and of course i slipped hitting my chin pretty hard and i had one tooth, it went straight through my tongue and apparently the next morning i was eating salt & vinegar crisps 'cos i'm ard.

Another one was not long ago but i have no idea how it scarred tbh i stood on a bench in town and because my friend is severely mistaken on what jeans should and shouldn't have on them he had one of those dog chains on them i went to step off the bench my foot caught in it and i'm around 5'11 and the bench is like 2 or 3 feet off the ground i landed on my chin, although the only thing that hurt was after i hit my chin my right wrist flew down to the ground and sprained.

The last one is the only real scar story i suppose, i was stood on the edge of a swimming pool when i was 11 i know this because i entered my first year of high school with this scar unpatched and just there, anyway i leapt from the edge of the pool with the aim of landing on a inflated bed or whatever you want to call it around 7 foot away i would've made it but mid-jump my brothers friend rose from the water and my eyebrow hit his elbow hard, so hard it stopped me jumping completely i fell in the pool and got out the find a large space aboce my eye where my eyebrow should be it took 7 stitches and now i have a really annoying line where eyebrow hair refuses to grow and a 4 inch long scar well about that anyway.

    Btw, hey again guys :-)

    Re: Battle scars

I have more scars than a hairless pit bull. Explaination is in the metaphor.
