I don't care what anyone else thinks but myself. Posts that are "do you like this? can you associate with this? do you also have sexual relations and where do you do it?" are silly and I only respond in them to show people how cool I am. So why do you post?
Note: I will probably never read anyone's response in this thread or care about it.
Che is my besterest friend evarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (abusing the fact he won't read it)
I agree on the fact that those are kind of pointless, but they can connect to people and make people feel as though they have internet sycophants. Kinda like an "Online Badass" but with social problems
I think people ask it only because their trying to get their own opinion out there, just saying that to make sure they don't sound egocentric XD
But I know that I stay in the shadows and don't post too often, but I post to get my opinion in there (irony XD), for fun, and to get my post percentage back up, and because I have nothing better to do.

I'm thinking about creating a hybrid. A dolphin-monkey. Half dolphin, half monkey. Do you think it's possible?
I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

Well what is it going to be? Are you going to read and not care? Or are you not going to read? You must decide Snapping Turtle, don't be so uncertain.

Turning the coin: it could be egocentric to not care about what others say especially when there is no reason for such a behavior. It wouldn't make for a good first post in a thread to say "I like having sex in unique places", list them off, share some details and end the post like that. What would the would-be-responders respond with? "Cool story bro or gal". "Your sex life is lame, here is mine".

You have a decent stat in charisma making you more well known (existence wise) to me and I like reading what other people have to say because what other people think can be very interesting and I like to know what other people are thinking. I gather information like I gather the SPICE!!!!!
Alas, I must banish you from this realm, O servant of Chemosh! The undead must not be allowed to linger on this earthly realm, striking fear into the hearts of the pure.
Forums only get stupid when people start taking everything seriously and get all defensive about tongue and cheek comments that were never meant to be offensive. The Kotaku comment threads are a perfect example of a good 'forum-ing' environment. For the most part, everyone's cracking jokes and playing along with the jokes of others. It makes for a good read, even for non-members. Some people are great like that here. Some others take things too seriously (myself sometimes included).
I love forums.
They give me something to do while working/doing other boring shit (can't play games the whole time as my battery would die before I could get back and recharge it) and coupled with MSN and the like mean I'm never bored for a moment.
If it wasn't for simple and sometimes spammy topics there wouldn't be as much activity and I'd prob just spend the whole time gaming and hoping my battery doesn't die on me before I can recharge again.
And Jin, haven't read Kotaku comments for a while, but last time I was around a bit all I saw were a ton of bad puns based on the articles the comments were in and shit like that. Maybe it's clever but you never get some of the chaos this place gets from time to time.

I wonder if this is something that's currently nagging at you. What with you saying something similar in the thread about assholes. Hmm....
I respond to these types of threads to amuse myself, and I also read the first few posts, and then skim the rest to find if any of the cool people responded, and see what they said, because that also amuses me. Something akin to what Zargabaath was saying. I also read the opinions of the people I think will piss me off sometimes, because... I want to be pissed off? *shrug* Other times I'm smart and don't. Depends upon my mood. Anyhoo...
^Did I forget your birthday or something? I meant to send you a card, I swear.

Bad puns are great with the right delivery.
And the lack of chaos isn't a bad thing. At least there's little e-drama.

I got banned for a while for something similar. The only reason I post now is to be innocuous and boring, which is pretty much all I can do.
I post so that I can get my opinions and facts and whatnots about me out there. Also forums are great for socializing. Most of the people on this forum are pretty cool, and I talk wit a few on MSN.
Sitting here waiting for Rocky, and Che to notice me!!
My reasons are two-fold. It's a social experiment/experience that is unlike any other with respects to anonymity, freedom, opportunity and arrogance. I've met some very unlikely characters on this forum...some of them were too unlikely and others are personalities that could only thrive here.
Two...because I too have no social life and don't want one outside of this simple forum. I can speak with letters better than syllables and it's less awkward for me and my anxiety with speaking.
Did someone change the name of the thread? Lmao...
Anywho, I like forums. Granted, I haven't joined many, but I only stay at the ones that have a pretty nice community to hang out in. They also give me something to do in-between college, coursework, games and friends.

That's from my personal experiences.
It's almost the total opposite for me. Sure, I've popped one or two arguments and I've felt a little insecure after a few experiences, but that's not to say there weren't improvements/positive points as well.
You know, the making friends part, developing vocabulary, spelling, engaging in debates and reading about someone's life elsewhere on a different continent, therefore seeing a different view point. There's always the pros as well as the cons.

I enjoy it because after being stuck on this ship for a few months there aren't that many interesting people left to talk to so I must find new places to have interesting idol talks. Which leads me to here where I can frolic and play with new people such as yourselves.
wait, what? I think I had too much to drink from last night...

This post is ironic. I believe I care as much about this thread (that is about NOTHING) as I do about the ones it is referring to (Which also have no point). Awesome. Holy Crap....it's a thread about threads ! HAHAHAHAH And so I post :-)
I wouldn't call that irony, I would call it a vain attempt at being funny.
Don't give away the punch line before you finish the bit.
On a more related note, Che is secretly reading this thread, LOLing at how foolish you all look for posting in it. Just thought I'd point that out. Your welcome. ^_^
