"The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) was a First World War army corps of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force that was formed in Egypt in 1915 and operated during the Battle of Gallipoli. General William Birdwood commanded the corps, which comprised troops from the First Australian Imperial Force and 1st New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The corps was disbanded in 1916 following the Allied evacuation of the Gallipoli peninsula and the formation of I Anzac Corps and II Anzac Corps."
The 'last post' is played on the 11/11 at 11:00 to commemorate those that gave their lives protecting their country. Some people argue that its silly to be to have pride in ones homeland, but to them I say the following;
Is it so silly to recognize the sacrifice of those who gave their lives to protect this beautiful land? Is it so silly to be thankfuly and prideful of being apart of such a great place to live, only possible due to the hard work and sacrifices of so many soldiers? I have to admit, hearing this trumpet gives me chills, it is haunting. But its also a reminder that we should never forget.
