I am terrified of Ocean and scared to be around her too, oh wait you meant the body's of water. Never mind.
As for me I can't say I have any phobias that I can think of. There are things I don't like (example: walking through spider webs) but that doesn't mean that I am terrified of them. Maybe I haven't found that thing that in reality instills a phobia in me.

That's kindof how I feel Link.
I hate touching worms or catapillers.
I don't have an terrified reaction to them, but I will do anything I can to avoid touching them.
Like most people, I'm scared of spiders, insects, and dangerous heights.
For the more unusual fears I have: I'm scared of most animals with claws and fangs, since I don't like getting hurt and sick, so I avoid them as much as I can. I'm also scared of clowns, because I find their makeup....unusual and thick, and I don't like the way their makeup makes them look, either it's scary, or (supposed to be) silly.
.....And I also stole that cupcake.

I used to be a little scared of balloons, a phobia instilled by my mother because she's terrified of the things, and that they might burst. Part of my job is to blow up the balloons for the kids that come into the restaurant, and the first time I was asked to do this I freaked out because I hate balloons! I managed to do it, though, and now it's second nature to me.
Similarly, I had a terrible phobia of dogs as a child (possibly picked up from my mother, like the balloon phobia), but I got over this by playing with my friend's dog and taking her (the dog! ) for a walk. By the way, this dog was actually a Rottweiler! Interacting with this big, fearsome dog I think cured my phobia.
My boyfriend is terrified of spiders and butterflies. I have to move spiders out of the way with sheets of paper, and he can't even do so much as look at pictures of butterflies, which is kind of unfortunate really, as I got a couple of Get Well cards when I was laid up with my leg, and they both have butterflies on them.

im claustrophobic, which is nothing out of the ordinary I guess.
I think I may have a snot phobia, though Il happily pick my own nose, so maybe i just find it mingin when its anyone elses... so perhaps not. I gag when I see a big greeny on the floor, or someone gobs up near me ):
I do have a phobia of fans though, which is absolutely ridiculous. I think Im better with it than I used to be, Im just glad Il never have to encouter one irl. or at least im not likely too... and im talking the big industrial ****ers. Room fans dont bother me. Anything that can suck yuio in and kill you though, No ta. If anyone suggested indoor skydiving to me, they'd be getting telt where to go. id rather jump out of a plane with no parachute
It's strange how we learn to fear like that. It makes absolute sense survival-wise but it's a funny thing. I know that I got my fear of spiders from my mum, she's terrible around them. My sister is petrified of wasps 'cause of my dad, too.Originally Posted by Tallulah
I know I picked up my phobia from being young. Some guy jumped out when I was sat in an innocent ride. Now I can't even go near a haunted house.
It is strange how things affect us.
Crikey. Not many fears would drive you to say that. I think if I was faced with walking into a haunted house or dropping 15.000 feet the doorknob would come in an eager hand. Not many other things would make me enter though; only certain death.Originally Posted by Lily

Uhh. I don't know about actual phobias. I'd say rape or being buried alive would scare the **** out of me, but being afraid of those things doesn't really interfere with anything I want to do, so...
A friend of mine is afraid of spiders. Like, just a picture of them. Or talking about them. Or imitating them with your hands.
...He never should have told me that.
Curious?

crickets scare the bejeebies out of me. im not really sure how that came about but its the noise they make and how they just jump around and land on you *shudders*
and sharks...but i feel this is legit reason - i was out maybe waist high in the beach with some friends when i saw a small (maybe 2 ft.) shark swim close by. i about crapped my pants. it dosen't help that the beach water near here looks like sewer water and can't see past a foot underwater (on a good day)
oh and wasp...but who likes a flying evil robot that stings?

Can't think of anything I have a fear of... well nothing like what was previously mention by the other users. Although I do have this *being sentimental phobia* I like to call it.
What it is pretty much is when people sit down or something and pour their hearts and soul out about all the things they feel sad about or think isn't right blah blah blah.... honestly people try and tell me why their sad and stuff, but I just turn around and say *Did I ask you to give me your life's story*, then they will call me a jerk, asshole, blah blah blah and walk away with me laughing...
Matter of fact it's anything that seems remotely sentimental that gets under my skin. I know most of you are probably thinking, (well maybe you got hurt as a child and it's causing you to be emotionally scar or some nonsense)... well that's not the case...
So yeah not much scares me really... when I find out what scares me, then I'll let you know

I was gunna die laughing at everybodies phobias but I realized I'm a punk with personal fear...>.>
I am deathly afraid of vomiting(emetophobia).
I don't know why, I lost 75 lbs because I was once afraid to eat too much.
I also need surgery for an acetabular labral tear(torn tendon in my hip) but I won't cause general anesthesia can cause vomiting... >.<
I am also fearful of water, or anything that has to do with water in a large mass, as in flooded lakes, waterfalls, dams, low-lying water gridges...
Oh, I'm also afraid of Bridges (gephryophobia, or something like that, have to check my book). No reason but I don't trust them... >.>
And lastly, I am afraid of LOUD noises. No idea why, and it is fairly new.
Honest to god, if I hear a loud clash, I look at the sky, to see if it is red... signifying a nuke or asteroid impact... LMFAO!!!!!!!!
I don't mean little thuds, I mean a huge tree falling down.
Actually, that last one is caused because a tree fell down and a strong gust of wind followed for about 10 seconds... scared me to hell..
Your pathetic existence will shut down. I will make your lives end in ruin. Fear me, as you fear death. Not a threat, not a promise, but what must be finished. 7 final arcs...
I think a phobia is designed by an unrealistic reaction to something that scares us due to anxiety, paranoia, and the inability to think clearly....even if the only reaction is avoidance. I, however, can't avoid my phobia. I have an unrealistic fear of the sky and the universe. When I was little if I looked up I would get dizzy. That turned into a threat if I even saw stars on the TV or something. I would have to point my fingers and toes and face toward the earth. It's much better now. I was actually caught getting lost in the clouds a week or so ago. My next step is to try and go to a planetarium. I know it seems weird, but you'ld be surprised how normally you can live without ever looking up.
I have a phobia in travelling buses.
I honestly think if I was taken into a wind tunnel or summat like that - id probably have a heart attack and die anyway.
I cant even look at them on tv, if they are in a film or summat. I was caught by surprise by one when watching Daylight once. I actually screamed, hahaha. They scare the living shit out of me. I had a small extractor fan in the kitchen which broke and I had to pull the cover off it and even that made me nauseous - was so glad when that was removed. I knew it posed absolutely no threat it was just how it looked that creeped me out
