The 2013 TFF Awards VOTING Thread

Okey-dokey! First, Rowan and I would like to thank those of you that have given nominations to your fellow members for this year's TFF Awards. There was a good turnout, and I can only hope that there is even more participation for the voting round. The nominations have been tallied and it is my pleasure to give you the nominees for these prestigious honors.

A few things...

1. Remember that you can only vote for ONE (1) nominee per category. Unlike the nomination round, you are allowed to vote for yourself.
2. Your vote MUST be submitted via PM to either Rowan or myself, with the subject of the PM being "2013 TFF Awards Ballot". This is to give this year's awards at least some form of surprise when the winners are announced. In your PM, simply put the category followed by the nominee you select for each category. For example:
   

   Best Staff Member - Andromeda

3. Though you do not have to, we encourage you to vote for someone in each category. Regardless of whether you view the specific section of the forum represented by the category or not, your vote is important.
4. This thread is to be used for general nominee support, suggestions for future award categories, and some basic campaigning. Keep it clean though! If you have any questions about the voting process, please notify one or both of us via VM/PM.
5. The voting period will begin as soon as this is posted, and end on December 20, 2013. This is plenty of time to consider your decisions and get them sent to us. Every vote counts, and it could very well be your vote that decides the winners.

Now, there were five TFF members that received enough nominations to move on to the voting round in more than the maximum of three categories. I want you to know that it was very difficult choosing which categories to pull you out of because you were just so awesome. That being said, I have made a special "Honorable Mention" banner that you will receive when the other awards are given out.

We are still working on the details for a possible live Skype Call awards ceremony. If you have any suggestions on this matter, please post it in this thread. When things are finalized, there will be a post announcing it. Also, if you are interested in joining the event, either VM/PM one of us or make a post in this thread showing your interest along with your Skype username. I believe we were thinking of having people in the Skype call announce categories and winners; but again, specifics will be announced at later date.

Finally, I wish that you all could be winners. Sadly though, you cannot. And I guess now would be the time when the generic "May the odds be ever in your favor" line gets pulled out, but I will try and change it a bit.

May people vote for you for your merits,
May their votes toward you equal twenty.
These awards may mean nothing outside of this forum,
But to us, these awards mean plenty.

If we are leaving this open for conversation, I meant to note something in the nominations thread: I feel that "Best Grammar" should be converted to a bogus award rather than an official award, because what matters most in our conversations here is that cohesive thought is purveyed. Just because some may type more fluidly than others does not make their opinions any more important than those of anyone else. Just my two cents!

With that in mind, I feel it appropriate to campaign for myself for Music Guru of 2013. I know y'all like video game music, but check this out: I went and listened to all new original music that came out this year, and I put ten of my favorite original songs from this year into two lists, found here and here. I am here to show y'all that there is still new, interesting, great music to listen to that is being made yearly. Not just the crap you hear on the top 40 radio stations, but music that is worth being listened to. Open your minds, and you will find new and exciting visions and sounds. Don't settle for the same old tired formulas you hear on the radio. There's a big world out there to explore!

Also, lawl. Maybe, just maybe, I have something planned to get myself banned... Whatever it is, it would be cunning and you wouldn't see it coming. Anyhoo...

I would like to do the exact opposite.

Instead of standing at my podium and shouting to the heavens how I'm better than the other guy---in this case, Telegraph---I'm going to go against all logic and tear myself down (since that's an area where I truly excel). I will attempt to present reasons why I shouldn't win anything here, especially an award as all-encompassing as a title like Music Guru suggests:

1. Calling me a Music Guru is egregious if you know how stringent and self-restricting my musical tastes are. It would be like calling an Apple Store employee a Technology Guru.
2. My ego does not need a good stroking.
3. I dislike winning awards of any kind, as I never feel like I truly deserve them.
4. There's a good chance I will go dormant at any given moment, only to return a number of years later--not unlike Alucard who only awakens when Dracula needs vanquishing. Would you really vote for and support a Music Guru in absentia? I know I wouldn't!
5. If there's any award I should win, it's Guru of Wasting Your Time With Long Posts. I know I'd get loaf's vote.
6. One among you will shortly perish.
7. And if there's any award I would want to win, it's---well, I won't tell you (because I would probably win it [and I don't want to win anything])

In closing, I would like to thank those who nominated me for their consideration. I'm... flattered? Surprised? Shocked? Something like that? However, my abhorrence for awards would force me to vacate any award presented to me. Any award would immediately be defenestrated. Thank you.
