    The TFF Language Thread.

I have decided to send the old language thread along to cleft of dimension and make a new one since most of the members in the old ones are not active anymore and won't be able to help you.

The point of this thread is for you to ask any questions about languages; you never know, maybe your fellow TFF'er can help you out with a sentence or word you need translating.

Also feel free to advertise your language skills to others in this thread.

The person in my avatar is me.

    THIS SIGNATURE IS VERY DISTRACTINGS

I seem to know more languages than I thought, even if it's just a little bit of understanding of them.

English - Native speaker, and writer. Obviously .

Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) - A little bit of reading, can't really speak a word of it.

Gaeilge (Irish Gaelic) - My grandmother is fluent in it but I can normally understand what someone's saying when they use it.

Auld 'en modern Scots - Real native language . You might see me post in Scots sometimes and just think it's bad grammer or misuse of words. But no, it's actually Scots - the same langauge Auld Lang Syne is in. (Although probably not the version most of you will sing.) I.E. this is second language to me.

French - Can read almost fluently, not very good at the reading or writing because of the funny grammer involved. Which I really have no knowledge of.

    German - Currently learning.

I speak English fluently, and my French is pretty good (I'm studying a Masters degree in it, so I guess it should be). I can swear fluently in Polish, German and Czech.

Like Aerif, I speak and write Auld Scots and Glaswegian dialects. Phrases like 'Am urney' and 'Monty ****' that foreign people insist are not English at all. In this respect, Aerif and I would be invaluable if any of you happen to study the poetry of Robert Burns. Knowing how to pronounce the words, and what they mean, is more native to us than proper English.

English - I'm rather decent at it for the better part when I wish to be and if you ever get any slang you don't get I tend to either know what it means or one of the guys I know IRL will if I don't. Particularly Australian slang which some have called a language of it's own.

English - Duh duh duuhhhhhhhh.... 0_0
French - I'm better at reading it than speaking it. Not as good as I once was, but I can work it out if you give me time.
Spanish - Yeah, I got a D in it for my GCSE's - so what? I was just bad at what the examiners were asking. I know how to say b*tch and b*stard too.
Japanese - I'm still learning v-e-r-y--s-l-o-w-l-y... I'm better at speaking it, although I am learning how to write in Japanese too.

As well as the above, I know how to say fish and donkey in Turkish (insults - apparently donkey is really insulting >>), and I know how to say SOB in Japanese. =S

Will anyone teach me some japanese so I can hope to go to the shores of Honshu in order for me to find my true love? I need to be able to a), write japanese haikus, b), be able to keep a decent conversation with a japanese woman, c), be able to close it up with some choice wordplay that would make the womens go wild for me. If anyone would be able to teach me the arduous task of being my "Sensei", if you will, I would be able to pay handsomely with internets to them. Godspeed, people.

The souls out there who have access to knowledge of the French language should decipher the meanings of au and aux to me. I am aware they both mean "to", but what circumstances lend themselves to their individual uses?

English - Fluent, and have more knowledge of it than many people. I have studied the English language a lot, so if you need help in any aspect of it I can probably help you out a little.
    Indonesian - Fluent.
    Australian - Also fluent.

Just tell me if you need help in any of these!

    James,

au is the equivalent of a + le and aux is a + les

Masculine places would get au and feminine aux. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Just to clear all doubt: What Pete is saying is true, only that last sentence isn't. 'les' is not the feminine article, it's the plural.

I am fluent in English which can be a surprise on here, even if people are fluent in it, they seem to butcher it sometimes.

I am also fluent in all Australian dialects and these are:

    Normal English
Bogan - Usually everything is joined into one word with **** and mother****er inputted in between every word.
Sneaky Bogan - Pretty much English, but relies on alot of slang. Such as "Can you pass me the dead 'orse" which translates to "Gimme the tomato sauce" and " The Dog 'n Bone is making noise" which is "The telephone is ringing"

I am also fluent in Wigga - Foshizzle bizzle this lizzle is my main fizzle.
And in the languages deep in the african jungle - *click* *click* *clackaclacka*

Wu Tang Killa Bee's, We On The Storm.

    Re: The TFF Language Thread.

Need some translation work done if someone can help me. I am guessing it is Japaneese because of the caligraphy that was being used when I first started playing RE5 with this guy. He kept sending me messages later on that got away from the script and over to english letters.

So here are the words I am wondering about.

    "iso-ri"
    "haro"
    "Ro-mazi"
    "Nihonngo"

    Any help would be appriciated.

Iso-ri- I have no idea, probably something related to chair as that is the root word
Haro-I think it was mistranslated-haru=post, spread, or spring(the season)
ro-mazi-another close mistranslation-closest thing is romaji(roman text/English version of writing)
nihongo is litarally the Japanese language
probably has something to do with posting romanji somewhere, hope this helps

Very fluent in English, know a decent amount of Japanese but am still learning, I am occasionally caught speaking japangrish( English/ Japanese), and I have a Japanese dictionary just in case. And if it counts I'm pretty fluent in old English( ie Shakespeare talk)
