    Trinity Blood

A dubbed version was finally aired at midnght September 9th, followed by Bleach. I've been waiting for this anime for some time now, wondering how the dubbed would end up.

As I half expected, Abel's English voice actor makes him sound very young, but cute nonetheless. I thought the translation to English was wonderful considering I've only seen this through fansubs prior.

I'm captivated by the overall view of the world of this anime. The Vatican idea is quite clever, along with setting it in a post-apocalyptic time.

    Any thoughts?

I might've not seen this anime-I was setting my tape to record Bleach-but I decided to tape the entire Saturday line up. From the first episode, it looks really cool. The action was pretty sweet, and the post-apoctalyptic setting is pretty cool too. Abel looks to be one of the coolest priests ever. Although I'm not sure if he's exactly a priest, eh? I also wonder how Catholics are going to be portrayed overall, although that one woman cardinal didn't seem too evil...

Over all, I think it looks like a pretty cool series. I'll be watching it, along with Bleach, Saturday nights.

The late original author basically created his own Neo-Vatican where even women now have power in the Church; and the life of priesthood is a bit more lax. However, as you can see, they even have their own major role in politics, which is why I like this anime so much. It's not about who's being evil or good, but rather trying to cope in a dark future.

Just like Cardinal Caterina, she seeks peace and diplomacy while her other cardinal brother is all about destruction in God's will--and the little pope's stuck in the middle not knowing what the hell to do.

I encourage you to keep watching. The problem with this anime is that it's slow, and lacks a backround story. In time you'll see what this Vatican is about. New characters are on their way, along with a insidious group of villains that make a vampire threat look like a trail of ants.

Well, I have seen the first few episodes on YouTube, and it's not bad. The characters get really well developed after episode 7. The plot get's really good. Plus...there are lots of guns. Big plus for me.

I started watching it a year or two when it was coming out in Japan until it was licensed here and, in the few episodes I saw (around seven or eight), I really liked it. Aside from gorgeous artwork, it has great animation and an interesting story. I can't wait to see more of it on CN now, and with a decent dub to boot!

Na, he's a different type of vampire. I can't remember what it is called, but his type is a vampire that drinks the blood of other vampires, except these kind are a lot more powerful than original vampires.

Anyway, I just recently downloaded the fansub of this (all episodes...took me 4 ****ing days -_-), but so far I've gone up to episode 10 and it is pretty good. I love the characters and the story isn't that bad for now. It'll definitely get better later on though, I can sense these kinds of things. Hopefully, once I finish it it'll be the worth the long days of downloading it.

Abel is called a Krusnik, a predator of vampires while being a vampire himself.

By the way, if you thought the animation was great, you should check out THORES original design. They look like paintings!

This is a pretty good show so far. I went out and bought the boxed set that has volume one with it. I'm enjoying it so far. The next one comes out before too long, so I'll either get it at a store here or order it online.

As long as I get the limited edition, I don't care. I'm kinda weird when it comes to that kind of thing...

Yeah the show reminds me of another show, Hellsing. I imagine that I am not the only one to have that thought, some of the art style even looks a little similar at times. While Abel is no Alucard, in the same way, they do hunt vampires and the paranormal. Plus Abel is less serious than Alucard is. Though Abel is protecting a woman and serving her like Alucard serves a woman. The reason and causes are different, but there are a number of similiarities.

It is definitely an interesting show to watch. My Newtype magazine will hopefully have some more good pictures for it in this coming issue. They had some things about Esther in a previous issue, though she has not really been an important character yet. I imagine that will change though.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

I was going to say the same thing, at first I thought you were talking about the priest from Hellsing though I see that is not the case. I never really found Alucard to be a very serious character but nor was he the type to joke around most of them time and out of no where seems to get things done.

I just finished watching the first episode, it does look a lot like Hellsing with the same artwork and similar kind of Characters though it seems slightly more on a serious note. I see the also used the Church in this though to a greater extent than with Hellsing, I don't really like how they do that with shows but I may give it a chance.

Yeah, I watched the first couple episodes of this show on CN Sat nights, but then missed a bunch. I saw the ending part of the last one.

I dunno, the whole thing smacks of a Hellsing ripoff to me. The female cardinal seems like an Integra incarnate of sorts. Then you have the whole vampirelike creature hunting other vampires. The thing that got me the most though was how they both release their power. You know, how him and Alucard both talk and say something like releasing control art restriction to level whatever. I don't remember the exact wording BUT THEY BOTH DO IT!

I dunno, that kind of turns me off to the show in a big way. What I've seen I've liked though, so I suppose I could put my bias aside and give it a fair viewing.

Let me answer your question with a few names that come up: Vampire Hunter D, Blade, Alucard, that vampire who looks like a little girl from that Blood anime movie, and almost every other vampire hunter in any vampire show ever made, even Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer does it a bit. There are nearly infinite examples of vampires "preying" upon other vampires.

No, no it's not. If you're referring to his revolver then no, it's nothing like the modified Colt .45 revolver Vash uses. Large/flashy pistols are a halmark of many animes. Be it Alucard's extremely large Desert Eagle or the aforementioned revolvers. Thus it is not like Trigun in a way, it is just like quite a few other animes in one of many ways.

Just so you know, nobody has EVER SAID THAT ABOUT ANY ANIME EVER BEFORE! I'm sorry, that sort of thing really annoys me. I see it everywhere on the internet. Someone's talking about the anime and they're all like yeah I like this this and this, or I don't like this, then some dood rolls in and is like psh whatever I can't even watch the stupid anime, the manga is totally better. I'm not impersonating you right there, I'm mocking all the retards I've seen over the years.

So maybe for future reference, rather than writing one line about how the manga is better (which is a very very overly expressed "truth" regarding most every anime), you could try to actually discuss the anime as the author of the thread requested and forum rules would require.

Sorry if that seemed flame-baity. I have no qualms with any of you, maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

I consioder Abel a perfect cross between Vash and Alucard.

He was Vash's sense of humor and his equal share of moments, but Abel (when it comes to vampires at least) is by no means a pacifist. He kills vampires without mercy just like Alucard, and like Vash he has his share of scars in his past he hides with a smile.

Plotwise, I'm sure we can agree Trinity Blood is closer to Hellsing than Trigun, however.

This show is so freakin' awesome! I absolutely love Ion. He's soo cute! And Radu and the puppet master are so flippin' sexy it's not even funny. It's sad that Radu died in the last week's episode. Abel look so cool when he did that transformation thing and became all scary like and when he made Ion's blood swirl all aroud him. That was abso-freakin-lutely awesome!!!

I liked it quite a bit, it has a great music too heh. People saying it's a Hellsing ripoff really need to watch the entire series. All the main characters in Anime, if they're half-vampire, will have some form of resembelence to D from Vampire Hunter D. He's the original, even Alucard from the PSX game ripped him off

That aside, the story is really awesome; I've yet to see a vampire anime this good and deep, as usually their not very well thought out. I mean, I liked Hellsing, but when you look at the anime as a whole, it's not very deep nor does it have much character development; however, Trinity Blood does this very well, it introduces you into a really dark and sinister world, definetley enjoyable. There are hints at the end of a Season 2, which I will definetely welcome with open arms.

Bleh, it has been said that many many many Manga/Anime artists and writers get their inspirations from other artists and writers they have read works of. Now, to the heart of the matter, the reason people say it is >>>SORT<<< of like Hellsing is the whole Vatican/Catholic and vampire protecting humans. It is only natural for people to feel that way, and it is quite possible that one got inspiration from the other and felt the need to tell a different story around the same topic. It is a common thing, but saying they rip eachother off would be like saying all the fantasy books nowindays rip off Tolkien (or possibly older authors). It just isn't a sensible way to look at things, you have to look it at the perspective that it is a different thing, and treat it as such. If you compare all of the books/movies/whatever to your favorite out of that genre, and say they are crap because you didn't like it as much and say it is a ripoff, you are a sad person indeed. Anyways, back on topic, I haven't had a chance to see this one yet, I may get around to watching it from the beginning later when the series restarts from the beginning on CN.

Yeah if you say it's rip off shut up. It may seem the same but there are diffrences watch the ANIME again darn it. I agree it's like Trigun but the setting and the way the characters act and work together is completly diffrent.

Trinty Blood is a good anime on Adult Swim, and I think it's getting better. But thats just me.

I totally agree. Yes, it does have Trigun-esque animation @ times. But. I agree, the similarities end quickly.

Also, It's one of my new fav shows on Adult Swim. I need to watch it more though. My DVR is set up for it ^.^

I should of been a little more clearly. It probably does resemble more Helsing than any other anime. But I should of said Abel is more like Vash. Because he acts all sweet and innocent but really he's bad ass deep down. So that basically what I meant. But yeah I agree it's more to Helsing over all.

I really enjoyed this show. The first episode that I saw was "From the Empire, so I started off a little bit confused. But the next week I saw Tres for the first time, and I was hooked. I went online to get caught up on the older episodes. Esther annoyed me a little bit, though Tres and Petro more than made up for that.

I bought all the special editions of the dvds and the box. I liked it a pretty good bit, though the ending disappointed me, but thats partially due to the writer dying and it not having a finished ending.

Yeah, having long since finished the series, I can say that I'll still say it had a great dub, a wonderful score, and nice animation, it started lagging three quarters of the way through the season, and the ending kind of just...stopped more than actually ended. They give you a significant revelation towards the end of the series only to not elaborate on it at all, which was a little annoying. I'm still buying the manga, though, which comes out here quarterly (I'll actually be picking up vol. 8 today), which is also pretty, and also offers me a chance at maybe a little more resolution than the anime did (also, where the anime slowed down, the manga never did, and it's starting to diverge somewhat, so that's always entertaining).

All in all, it's not a groundbreaking series, but I'd say it's still solid entertainment.

I watched all the episodes from Netflix rental. It was pretty good but not the best anime so far.

    SPOILER!!:
The ending is kinda a downer though..I dont think it really ended. I can imagine that it has a manga equivalent like how the series Berserk ended in DVD =/

I agree that the ending left me hanging. Really, I think the first third of the series was my favorite, before they introduced that vampire prince or whatever he was (he really grated on my nerves at times. I think it may have been the whiney voice, mostly.) Plus, around that time, Abel seemed to make far fewer appearances, for whatever reason. It's been a while since I've watched this (2006, when it came over here) so the details are a little foggy in my head now. Anyhoo...

The anime was pretty fun. It had a lot of interesting ideas to work with and I only wish that they would have taken the time to develop them more. It's too bad they had to rush the ending like that. Something open-ended is natural considering the circumstances surrounding the franchises, but...

Trinity Blood does have a novel series that both the anime and a manga series are based off of. Unfortunately, the author of the novel series has passed away. I assume it wasn't completed. I think I heard that a friend of the author was going to pick up the outlines and write it, but that could be my memory failing.

Edit: Oh wait, I was right but just really behind on the times. The friend did step in and complete them, but this would had to have been after the anime had started production.

Some of the novels have been released by Tokyopop.
