Test Your Anime Knowledge

I've been working on a side project for a while and I figure it might be something fun to put up here. Shadow, if you end up feeling like this belongs more in humor or whatever move it. But I'd hope it might spark a little discussion and reminisce about old anime that you thought you forgot. If anything hopefully it entertains and challenges you.

Do bare in mind that I've seen everything in it and that I picked things that were pretty unique to that series or movie. So it is divided and process of elimination can narrow things down for you.

If you have any questions about it please ask. If you post answers please put them spoiler tags so people can keep things fresh if they want. It is a very large image in scale and file size, so it will take a bit to load completely.

I miss watching Sailor Moon (yes im a guy who watches Sailor Moon) and MAR, they both made me feel like i could be something if i just tried , of course there were some animes that made me feel more like im in a dream world, but those two made me feel like there was a world for me if i just put my all into it

Do you remember how many different anime those characters are from? I'm kind of curious now. There seems to be hardly any repeat characters from an anime that I can find except for the ones from Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z. There are probably only 50-100 characters that I can recognize which anime they even come from let alone all of their names.

Anyway, it is kind of interesting to see how the animation quality has changed throughout the years by comparing the older characters to some of the newer characters in there. This must have taken a long time to put together. I'm really impressed.

So, are we supposed to start guessing?

How many different anime is a subjective term I guess. When I made it I divided everything up movies and series. As you already seen there are plenty of Dragonball in there, because I've seen all 13 movies and all 3 series. So they account for 17, and no that's not a math error there is another one in there that you'll have to figure out. ^^

If you want my best guess on how many unique anime there are in there I would say the number is around 250 anime since I would guess about 50 of them belong under one franchise or another.

As for what you want to do. Well guessing is one way. But it sounds like you already know some of them. ^^ So I'd say start with what you know and go from there. ^^;

Well, these are a few I recognize.

Kanon, Slayers, Princess Tutu, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Kaleido Star, Shuffle!...
(Did I have to give image numbers too??)

139, 290, 41, 14, 37, 13, 288 and 291 respectively.
I even see some characters from anime that I had forgotten even existed! XD

I'm going to try to guess the characters that I know. I'll only guess the anime because I'll probably fail miserably at the names because I haven't seen a lot of them in a while.

Woah, I knew a lot of them. I think I got about a third of them. A lot of the characters I didn't know looked like they were from pretty old anime.

Andromeda, could you tell me what anime characters 6, 113, 160, 174, and 196 are from? It would be much appreciated.

I'm still not sure how we are supposed to discuss this because there are just so many anime there, but it is a cool picture nonetheless. It was fun to guess, too. ^^

Well the discuss part was intended to be sparked by if you found something really old that you forgot about and started talking about it. It is not really intended to go in one direction or the other.

Part of the test and challenge is being able to be specific. ^^; Knowing roughly what it is certainly good, but the true challenge comes from being able to pick one movie from another. In general, I did use specific characters and if it seems the same, there is the process of elimination, but usually that is not required.

I'm surprised someone else has seen .hack//GIFT other than me. It's one of those really obscure one shots that they made that falls into the cracks.

Made a pretty good showing though, guessed the most of anyone correct so far!

I knew that I knew those characters, but I couldn't think of where they came from. 196 looks so different from the games that I couldn't tell, since I haven't watched the series.

279 is from Tenchi Universe I believe, and 282 and 283 are from two of the movies. Maybe 282 is from the first movie, and 283 is from the second movie?

I mainly watched it because it came with the games. It was pretty funny.

Some of the older ones that I remember airing on TV brought back some good memories. It almost makes me want to go back and watch some of them. It is hard to remember what exactly happened in some of them. For example I can't even remember what happened in Ronin Warriors. I remember that I liked it, but that's about it. On the other hand, I don't want to watch some of them again in fear that I might not like it as much as I did when I was a kid. I don't want to ruin the good memories by figuring out that I was wasting my time watching pretty bad anime. lol

Can you also tell me the anime that characters 95, 193 and 265 come from?

Seeing all these unfamiliar characters is making me wonder what I've been missing out on. ^^

265 is Wrath of the Ninja - It is a fairly old anime, but I really enjoyed it.

I can understand that about the old anime. I own some old anime that I saw a long time ago and there was a bit of a luster lost when I watch them. But even still I enjoy watching them, there are still some that I really want to try to find somewhere.
