    Spice and Wolf

This series is really new and very unique, it focuses on economics, trade, and peddling rather than swords and magic, you might think that this would make it boring but it's actually really good. The music for the show fits what's happening perfectly and the story is enthralling.

The story centres around Craft Lawrence a peddler who dreams of one day owning his own shop, one day in the village of Pasroe he stumbles across a pagan wolf diety named Holo/Horo who blessed the towns harvest for many years she no longer believes that the people need her so has decided to return to her home in the north, Yoitsu, Holo/Horo makes a deal with Lawrence to take her back to her home.

The show has a very uplifting feel to it that makes the more serious moments better for the contrast, there is some violence which is dealt with in a very realistic way, bar the giant wolf.

Overall I really liked the series and would like to hear your opinions.

    The Gargoyle
    SPOILER!!:

    The gargoyle sits, solemnly, alone
    That silent man of stone
Here, for his deeds he must atone

    Beaten eyes stare blankly
    Withered arms curved and wrinkly
    Bat-like wings spread fully

For once he was a man deceitful
His soul decored in black so hateful
From his despair grew pain most vengeful

With his death he was deserted
    Left condemned and desecrated
    Bound to form most understated

And now he is but a statue made of stone
    Sitting all alone

    Star Gaze
    SPOILER!!:
High in the sky, blinking down on us
    We all watch the stars
    Believing, as we do
That friends and lovers long since moved away are staring upwards too
Remembering us as we remember them
Smiling in the light of an unatainable star
And even if the star was snuffed out at that very moment
    We would never know
    We just keep smiling
And believe the star is true

    My TFF Family
(is laughably small because 'loner' turned out to be fairly accurate)
    Unknown-Entity - loner-kid's hilarious 'friend'
    Raider - my ginger brother

Sorry for reviving such an old thread, but it's really sad that this thread doesn't have a single answer .,."

Hopefully you know, loner-kid, that the second season of Spice and Wolf is currently airing. (I think.. erm 4 episodes are out by now ^^)

I really enjoyed the first season of SaW and I was really happy when I heard that there would be a second season.
For anyone who hasn't seen it: You should really give it a try. It's a warm-hearted story, not only about trade, but also about the legend of Horo. (In the second season there is not much trade but more about the friendship of Lawrence and Horo ^^) I think the side-story of the wolf Horo is also very interesting. Just think about this: There is a goddess, Horo, who travels with a human, Lawrence. She begins to love him (hopefully that's no spoiler yet ), he loves her, but they both know that their love has no future, because Horo is immortal. That's something that is also in the second season.

If you want an anime with a huuuuge story and maaaany fights, then you shouldn't watch it. But everyone of you who has no problems with a slow anime should try it.

By the way, the music in the second season isn't as good as in the first. Especially (!) the ending. <_< I was really shocked when I watched the first episode of the second season: No seven apples on the witches tree! ToT But I enjoyed the wrong English so much~ It sounded totally sweet. <3
Arw, what am I talking about?! Just listen to this cute song! ^_^

Yeah, I was practically squealling like a little girl when I heard the second season was coming out although so far i've only watched an episode or two of it. I decided to wait and watch the two different arcs when they are respectively finnished because it makes it a far more compelling viewing to watch it like that.
The music was a little disappointing but in fairness the first series music was on a level of its own and it's difficult to create something that even comes close to it
