    Mecha

What mecha shows have you watched, what shows are your favourite and why, and what is your favorite mecha/pilot?

Mine.. GaoGaiGar. The most Gutsy and Courage-filled show i have ever laid eyes on. I can no longer play Ocarina of Time the same cause of that show (Japanese VA for main character was the voice of Link)
Also close to on that is Tengen Toppa Gurren lagann and G Gundam

My favourite mecha is.. um.. either Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann or Genesic GaoGaiGar. Favourite pilots right now are Char Aznable and Lockon Stratos.

Oh hands down my favorite Mecha show was the old Robotech series. Rick Hunter and Jack Archer were the bomb.
I bought the Robotech games and started getting into the series and before then I was not really in to robots or Mecha anime.

I've mainly watched the Gundam franchise, but I've seen others as well. Though I tend to prefer Gundam more often beside of the semi-science they have. Its still fiction, but it feel like half of the technology they use could actually work with enough application. My new favorite mecha would be Code Geass, because its like Gundam and Death Note smashed together with fights that are some of the most intense and hand-to-hand that I've seen from just about any mecha anime with G Gundam being about the only other one.

Still I think I prefer Heero from Gundam W, but Suzuku from Code Geass is pretty amazing too. Though Suzuku has the heavy emo thing going for him, which is a little meh. Which makes me lean more towards Kalen, since she is pretty much his equal and then some.

The Wing Zero still pretty much remains my favorite mecha though with perhap Zeta Gundam or the Freedom from Seed coming in behind. Wing Zero is pretty much one of the most powerful Gundams around with the ability to repeatedly fire a colony destroyer rifle. The only thing that competes with the Freedom or Justice with their like hundred shot simutanious tracking thing.

And a list of mecha I've seen.

    Mobile Suit Gundam
    Gundam 0080
    Gundam 0083
    Gundam Zeta
    Gundam 08th MS Team
    Gundam Char's Counterattack
    Gundam Seed
    Gundam Wing
    Gundam Wing Endless Waltz
    G Gundam Fighter
    Code Geass
    Evangelion
    Escaflowne
    Neo Ranga
    Godannar
    Voltron
    Full Metal Panic
    Full Metal Panic TSR
    Bubblegum Crisis 2040
    Sakura Wars TV
    Burst Angel
    Rah Xephon
    Teknoman
    Gad Guard

Some a little less mecha then you think, but they are at least partially classified as mecha.

I have seen most of what is Anrdo's list.

    Also including
    Orguss
    Orguss 02
    Appleseed (somewhat Mecha)
    New Dominion Tank Police
    The original Bubble Gum Crisis
    Big-o
    Macross
    Macross +
and a few more that are not coming to mind right now

Out of all of them I would have to say that Orguss 02 was one of my favorites. The story was great, I love how they fuse the multiple worlds while still keeping them seperate. The over all concept of the series was great too. The character develpoment was great, they where to hard not to relate to.

As for favorite piolet: I will have to get back to you on this one.
Mecha: Deathguize or how ever it is spelled.
Soldier: "We suck but we're better then you"

We will fight, we will be strong
    Together we're marching on
    United, we move as one
Our finest hour has just begun

I forgot Big O and Appleseed >< Shame on me.

Yeah, I don't know what it is about having a G in the title, Gundam excluded. But I guess it is a popular way to go. Though you will unfortunately see a lot of G just because there is 30 years of Gundam anime. So it is difficult to get around, but it is usually good stuff. I left out G-Savior because I still shutter to think that was Gundam movie. Everything about that movie was depressing to watch.

I think it is Deathscythe? Or are you talking about the upgraded Deathscythe or the Endless Waltz Deathscythe which I think was Deathguise. Its been a while since I watch it.

Yeah, refering to the Endless Waltz upgrade, I might be wrong in the name though. I knew he was Deathscythe in the main series but thought the name transistioned over in the movie, I am probably wrong though haha, it too has been a while for me.

You guys should check out Gundam 00. It's, the best way to describe, is Wing mixed with Zeta.

Yeah, I've known about Gundam 00 for a while, but since it is airing on Sci-fi I can't watch it. I have been dying to see it too since I love Gundam and Gundam Wing remains to this day as my favorite Gundam series. So when I heard is was going to be reminent of it I couldn't wait. Sadly, now I have to wait until they sell them on DVDs which I will promptly buy.

    For me, I'd say..

Big O, Heroic Age, Outlaw Star, and Gundam Wings..

I haven't watched a lot of mecha, but those are definitely 4 of the best ones, IMO. I liked Big O because I'm already a fan of Batman, so go figure. Heroic Age was pretty interesting.. I'd definitely recommend it to any mecha fan. Outlaw Star has always been good and my favorite. Gundam Wings on the other hand sort of speaks for itself.

I'm not the biggest Mecha fan, but I do like Nadesico and it's spirited sequel, Gurren Lagann. And since it partially counts, Yatterman and Ippatsuman are awesome!

As far as Gundam goes I kinda had a thing for 8th MS team. It was sort of enjoyable Sci-Fi Romeo and Juliet with likable characters.

Ah my bad, I started to look it up, I could've sworn I heard they were both GAINAX series and some of the producers worked on both series, but I guess I was wrong, they seemed like such similar series too. My bad.

Hey, Gundam Wing is still my favorite Mecha series hands down. Gundam itself is a great franchise (save G and SD, those were terrible series', I'm not all into the changing the cockpit or chibi-ized Gundams), but, I do have to say, nobody mentioned a certain series, that technically counts as Mecha, and I'm not sure why.

Zoids. I know, come on with the flames. I love the Zoids series' after Gundam easily. Then probably Evangelion, Escaflowne, Gurren Lagaan, and possibly a few others (in no specific order).

Also, almost all of the Gundam in Endless Waltz had "Custom" in the title, seriously. I think that in the English version of Endless Waltz, it was Deathscythe Hell Custom (the only exception I can think of off the top of my head to that rule was Tallgeese III, and what an awesome exception it is ^^;; ). There used to be an official site for GW:tEW, but I think it's been closed down.

Kaiser, you make me cry T_T

G Gundam is one of my favourites. The Gundam title aside, it is an awesome SUper RObot series. Now, Destiny, THAT was horrible. It was like someone took Zeta and... well, the rest is quite explicit, but it's bad.

I USED to think G Gundam was bad, but after watching Gurren Lagann, GaoGaiGar, Godannar, and Gunbuster, i have a better view. Domon's hot-bloodedness is great, and parodied many times over (such as in He is my Master, i think, the voice actors in Japanese of Domon and Gai from GaoGaiGar end up battling each other with their respected characters' techniques, Shining Finger and Goldion Hammer, only to be stoped by an old man whose voiced by Master Asia. EPIC WIN!)

And Cain, Gunbuster/Diebuster and GL are related in the sense of Gainax, and Nono (as well as Asuka and Rei) appear in GL... and who DOESN'T love the Gunbuster pose? (the crossed arms across chest)

Meh, I am just not into how they changed how A.) the battles were fought (Large scale war for the win) B.) How they changed the cockpit (the older series' used a traditional cockpit, this one used a morphing suit with movement sensitivity, a huge letdown to me).

Story actually had no effect on me. It was mildly interesting, but that was about it for me though. I didn't think G-Gundam had really anything going for it IMO, but that's me. My best friend loved the series, and there are plenty of others who do, it's just not my cup of tea.

Never seen Destiny, personally. I'll hold my judgement on that one.

I have watched pretty much every gundam series made (didnt know about that g-savior movie and it looks like it might make me go stab something)

Im a fan of gundam shows but they are getting really redundant. I want another one like 08th ms team. A show that is in the point of view of the grunts, and maybe has some difficulty for the pilots. A show where they cant do backflips and crap in their gundams and destroy a billion zakus in one shot. It kind of made it more real in that show and it really felt like war instead of just mindlessly blowing up countless of enemies.

08th MS team wasnt even my favorite, my favorite was gundam wing. Im just getting sick of all the shows being the same. It usually goes along the lines of -bigshot pilot (usually age from 12-18) shows up in a huge overpowered gundam and whipes out hundreds of lowly grunts with no challenge at all. Mysterious new fighter shows up with an equal gundam. Both gundams fight thus giving the show an actual battle. Both characters end up getting better gundams and rinse repeat.

Im a huge fan of gundam shows but I just want something different.

DG< check out Gundam Igloo. It's sort of like MS Team, but each ep (all CG by the way) focuses on a new mobile suit prototype, all built by the glorious Principality of Zeon!

I'm a Gundam fan mostly. Gundam 0083 was is favorite because its epic in scope despite being short and while not as realistic or down and dirty as 8th MS team came close at times. 8th MS team was awsome and all but I hated the whole Romeo and Juliet lovestory thing that was going on. And besides, seeing all those Feddies get nuked was just plain cool.

    Mech shows I'ved watched
    Mobile Suit Gundam
    Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
    Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam
    Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
    8th MS team
Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
    Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
    Char's Counterattack
    Gundam Wing
    Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz

    The Big O
    Neon Genesis Evangelion.
    Tekkaman Blade

And thats pretty much it. And for the record I just couldn't sit through Gundan SEED no matter how hard I tried.
Faustus: Pope Lucifer I, the Defiler of Nuns
    High Lord: Brotherhood of Doom.

I think I've only seen Code Geass and Neon Genesis Evangelion so far, I don't really like Mechas. xD"
In CG and NGE I was interested in the STORY and the CHARACTERS, the mechas were only a side-plot for me. (Actually, in NGE they WERE xD")

I've watched one or two gundam along with Eva and Eureka 7 but my favorite series is Code Geass

my favorite mecha is probably the Gurren nishiki piloted by Kallen in Code Geass cause there aren't many mecha which can have a pilot bent over in a bunny suit and still be the most powerful around
