I wouldn't refer to Lelouch as a hero.
Hmm.. hmm.... I'll explain in a spoiler, for all the ones who haven't completed R2 yet:

    Spoiler:
I see that Lelouch only wanted to restore peace and all and wasn't a bad guy as he claimed to be at the beginning, but imagine what he did: He build an army, he had so many people die - is this what a hero would do? Certainly not. I clearly remember when he - accidentally! - killed Euphy. He didn't know what he did at that moment, but even after that he didn't act like a hero.

I wouldn't refer to ANYONE in this Anime as a hero, as they clearly only TRIED to act good.

Okay, enough of that, I also liked the Anime, though it was a bit strange at the end. I had the feeling that Lelouch had other aims at the beginning of the Anime. But I may have forgotten everything that happened back then. xD"

Also, I hope they won't make a third season.
    Spoiler:
I hate those guys who want to make money with something popular. And I hate Animes in which the dead come back to life again. <-<"

Suzaku is the closest you'll get to a hero with his mind set, but in the end he chooses power in order to change things to the way he wishes. Though the allies that Lelouch had could be considered closer to heroes since they just want to be freed from oppression and look to make the UN pretty much.

    Spoiler:
It is possible for Lelouch to come back with an established device. We don't know if Lelouch was able to fulfill C2's wish. If he did then he became immortal like his father did and Suzaku stabbing him would have been quite painful and for a while fatal, but he would have just stood back up later. So he could have quietly exited the world stage if he wished. It's possible. But I'm more inclined to believe Lelouch hadn't and he gave his life in about the only noble act since he started this rebellion and war. Besides even if they made a season 3 there's not a lot left hanging around. I could see a OVA or movie if they want to do something small.

Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

I love Code Geass. It is a really nice anime for an action one. I like Lelouch, but he seams to....manic to be a main character. I dono maybe i just dont see Chaotic Good as a main character, or even as the main hero. But other wise, i love Lelouch lol

Ironically, while I now love Code Geass, I was initially very against it. It had come out in Japan around the time I was watching Gundam SEED dubbed in the States, and, reading the description of it (two childhood friends forced to fight each other on different sides of the battle field), it sounded too similar to me, and, adding in the mechs, made me think it was just a cheap knock-off of the Gundam franchise, so I ignored the rants of a few of my friends who had started watching the subs. When it finally came to the US, the combination of the show being uploaded to the Adult Swim website (meaning I could watch it at my leisure) plus them announcing a stellar dub cast for it made me think at that point, "eh, what have I got to loose?" And I'm glad I gave it a shot.

While one of my two friends gave up on it and didn't see it through to the end (I -know- he didn't watch R-2, but I'm not sure he even finished the first season), I really liked it, and actually, rather than comparing it to Gundam SEED, found more parallels between Lelouch's character and Light's (from Death Note). What drew me to both characters was their desire to change the world through less than ideal means, and I really enjoy psychologically-complex characters like that. Throughout the series, you could really get to hating Lelouch, but there were always times to counter that were you saw that he was truly trying to make the world a better place...at least for Nunnally (I saw Light's goals as slightly more praise-worthy than Lelouch's slightly more personal goals, but still...)

Anyway, yeah, I really enjoyed the two seasons and agree that there's not that much need (if any) for a third season. As Andromeda said, I could see maybe a movie or an OVA, but a full-blown third series really isn't necessary, as many of the loose ends did get tied up in the end. Sometimes you just have to accept that a show is at an end and that there's no more of it. I was perfectly satisfied with what I got.

Yeah, a lot of people end up going to the same comparison with Lelouch and Light. I showed the first season to my best friend. Who I've been slowly introducing various types of anime to. And I wanted to show a mecha show that was good, I brought along Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed too, but I left choice of them. And they picked Code Geass. They liked up up until the last 4-6 episodes they said. While they enjoyed it, it seems that they were having trouble liking and feeling connected with any of the character. The only one tying them down was Suzaku and well with what Suzaku did in the last part of the season really turned them away. Now that don't want to watch season two. ; ; Because there's no more characters are that technically good, everyone is doing gray or dark things for good intentions or selling themselves to hate and anger. Which is really disappointing for me, because while it takes a while in the second season things turn out in an unexpected way that I think would redeem the show for them.

Still going to try to get them to watch Gundam Wing or Gundam Seed, need some Gundam in your life. I mean honestly, its Gundam.

Y'know, I'm normally not a big fan of "Giant Robot animes".(Except for Robotech) However the thing in this show that really got me hooked was seeing how the piolets for Britania were all nobles and knight and such. I really liked it, it was kinda like having medevil wars in the distant future. Plus I like Lelouch's voice actor. (He's Firion on Dissidia!!! )

I tried to get into Code Geass, and I did enjoy it for a while, especially when Mao was in the show! He was delightfully psychotic and even though he was like in maybe three episodes, I really REALLY like him!

I don't really know why I didn't get into it, because it seems like an anime that I would enjoy, but alas I just didn't stick with it... However I did enjoy the political aspect of it. I think that maybe my problem with it was that there was just a lot of characters and I just didn't have the brain capacity to keep track of them all.

I may just try again when I have a bit of time to give the show a decent chance. I only watched it when it aired on Adult Swim, and that was about the time I was getting stuck with early shifts at my job... I would often have to skip episodes and when I would actually get to watch it, I would be like "Okay.... Who's that guy?" or "What the hell did I miss????"

I liked the first season a lot, especially after the first few episodes. R2 is a completely different story, however... (and in more than one sense.)

The reason I posted here was actually because of this. Who knows what it could be.

ARGH!!! Just ARGH!!! Seriously, why do they want to do a new project? <.<" They clearly want to earn money through a popular Anime. -.-
    Besides, I hope it really won't be about Lelouch and Suzaku... But without them it wouldn't be Code Geass anymore. So... hell, I don't want them to continue! ;o;

Though I heard that there was a... visual novel (?) I think... about Nunnally. That'd be quite nice if it were an OVA about her.

But pleeease, no third season! ToT

They've made a number of spin-off manga, games, novels, etc.; many of them alternate realities. Nightmare of Nunnally is a manga and probably the one you're talking about. There was a visual novel/game... maybe more than one, though the one I'm familiar with played like a dating sim, haha. Oh man.

The Code Geass franchise has already expanded quite a bit. Given how people take to it I wouldn't be surprised if it was a new season... but it's just as likely a recap movie.

Actually, R2 was moved to a new time slot when it was aired and didn't do quite as well as the first season, so they may be hesitant about sinking a ton of money into it. Sunrise can be crazy at times though, so nevermind.

I can see them doing some OAV work for the series. Considering how much history the series has they can play around in periods prior to Code Geass actually starting. They could make some OAV about Lelouch's mother considering she was known for her unparalleled skill in a Knightmare. They could also have some fun with the attack on Japan by Brittainia. They could focus on Toudou or whatever his name, since he had a pretty important part to play in the battle. There's a lot of stuff that they can do without actually playing around with the time after R2. It would be considered supplemental material since it is stuff that they have referenced repeatedly throughout the series, but do nothing more than place it on some grand pillar.

But yeah, the most likely case will be a recap movie like S said. Sunrise loves to make recap movies, look at Gundam.

Looks like it wasn't a 3rd season, if the project they were talking about is this right here.

I'll admit that, despite not liking R2, I'm sort of pumped for this. With the original director of Code Geass playing a large part in this it has the potential to be good. The fact that C.C. is in it is a big plus too! While the other media in the franchise have been mostly spinoffs that serve to merely elaborate on the anime, this may take it a step further and add something slightly more tangible...

Man, I honestly hope it's great guys.
