Oh I just found this which made me snicker.
I watching up like Episode 56 of the English dub before I switched to the Japanese version, though I think it was the last English episode. Anyway I am up to Episode 112 which I believe is the beginning of the Sasake Retrieval Arc, so from what I heard around about Episode 150 it is mostly fillers. Anyway for those that have watched all the episodes up to where ever Japan is:

Spoiler: The time skip has not begun yet. They are still going through fillers, and will do so until about February. At that point, the direct manga adaption will resume under the name, "Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles," or something to that effect. Though, before the time skip actually takes place Kakashi Gaiden will probably be adapted.

Hi, I just joined ^^ And I'm a Narutard as well. I've been following Dattebayo's release of the japanese episodes and just finished Episode 215. I really can't wait for Naruto Shippuden to begin in Feb. Their new clothes are uber cool and I'm getting sick of the fillers. Yeah, I'm just 'getting', I know many died due to fillerphobia, but some of the fillers are quite funny to watch.
Narutard? That's a name stupid people use for us! Explain to me what exactly are the fillers? are they just sticking episodes in that were never in the manga or something? Anyway, the latest episode I've seen is where it's Sasuke vs Gaara and the sand and sound village is beginning their attack on the leaf village.
ya fillers are that....they put them to give more space between the manga and the anime...they were almost catching the manga...(it was wt i heard..)

they weren't even close to catching up with the manga! The manga is at least about 500 episodes past it! They're just animating it and doing voice overs. That is a pure lie. Plus the animation is done for them with the japenese versions! DON'T TELL ME THAT THEY ARE CATCHING UP
*drinks some soda* yeah, that's me when I hear something like that. I have seen an amv of Naruto vs Sasuke. That's way far ahead of Gaara vs Sasuke. it wasn't english or anything like that, but the animation was still there.
i was talking about the japonese epis.....but i dont know if its that or not....but i think its the only thing that makes sense....

The fillers that are being referred to so often begin at around episode 136. At that point there are traces of manga storyline that you see here and there, but overall things just drag on. This was, yes, due to the fact that the anime was almost neck-to-neck with the manga in terms of story progression. Manga generally progresses much slower than anime. In Naruto's case, an episode of the anime is generally 2 or 3 chapters of the manga depending on what it is they're adapting and how long they draw something out. And since a chapter of the manga is released weekly and an episode of the anime is also released weekly, there is likely to be catch up.
I think it's natural for a lot of people to get tired of the Naruto filler, though. As I said before, it began at around episode 136. The fillers are still going at 215, probably over a year after they began. It is over a third of the series without counting the filler arc somewhere in the 90's to the early 100's. Some people may enjoy it, but it's not my thing.

Hmm, do you guys think they will air Kakashi Gaiden as
a) an OVA or stand-alone special with no episode number
b) at the end of the current Naruto
c) at the start of Naruto Shippuden
d) Somewhere in between the episodes of Naruto Shippuden...they might have a slight filler scene showing Kakashi and the flashback begins?
I know if it follows the order of events in the manga it would probably be B or C but I have a feeling the anime will feature it in the case of option D.

yeah the manga is better but what i started doing after i realized the anime caught up with the manga (english) is got on youtube and watched the japanese versions with english subs the english version is on about episode 65 and im on episode 207 lol

There's a huge gap btwn the english dub and the japanese version. It's a good thing Viz doesn't tell Dattebayo to stop subbing. They're doing the Naruto fans around the world a great favour, that's why people still actually watch and enjoy their dubs. Companies who stop fansubbings will only end up getting flamed and ppl won't buy their DVDs.

LOL You're a fellow Sasuke basher (like me ^^) I agree that Naruto is much cooler, even Sakura is. Though, I don't really mind about Sakura not appreciating Naruto's help. He's better off with Hinata. Sakura does not look good with Sasuke. Recently, I feel she somehow is much more suited with Sai (O.o).
That Filler was pretty funny, I am currently up to like episode 136 I think so I am getting close to them I presume. I think over 60 episodes of pure fillers is a bit over the top, sure I don't mine like 20 or so as some of it is good but thats like over 2 whole seasons for some shows. They could have done the Kakashi one in that time I guess. Oh and my favourite characters are Neji and Gaara, Sasuke is ok but Sakura is annoying and useless and Naruto is stupid to like her.
Ahh Naruto. This is one show that I can't understand for the life of me why it's so popular. It kind of reminds me of a new age Dragon Ball Z, but with more moves and characters yelling the names of those moves in battle. I will give it credit for having some good humour in it, but overall, I think that people greatly overrate this show. It's far too long as well, which wouldn't be bad if it wasn't due to Dragon Ball like battles. How often do people stop to tell their life story and why they're angry in the middle of fighting?

Every other fighting anime in existence. =P I swear though, the worst part isn't that they talk so much during a battle, it's that half their talking is about things I already know. They have to review each and every technique or trick they just did, then they have to have shift to the enemy's face for a wide-eyed "Impossible...!", then they have to go to each and every character viewing the battle for commentary. Then maybe, just maybe, the battle will resume after some taunting. If this is not done in most anime, the fights would be cut down to an episode.
The manga was much worse though. Because of the pace it was released at I spent about 2+ months on a single battle. At the end of the last few chapters the author kept putting "And the conclusion is...?!", but it never actually ended.

I don't particularly dislike any of the characters. Some may be a bit annoying at times, but Kishimoto manages to portray all of them in a good light. Each of them has their own solid reasons for their actions, whether they're good or bad. Sasuke's just one of the more misguided, like Gaara.
Spoiler: Plus, they made Sasuke look really damn cool during the second half.
I can't get into the couplings though. I've been able to take Pokemon romance more seriously than Naruto romance. =P Kishimoto has made almost no room for that sorta stuff among the majority of the cast. There are some of the more blatant ones, but most of the characters are more preoccupied with becoming stronger. Even some of the stronger potential couplings in my eyes look rather ridiculous when portrayed in various fanworks. Naruto x Hinata stuff is pretty freaky. =P Perhaps when they grow a little older.
Though there hasn't really been emphasis on that sort of stuff. When there is, the manga tends to verify that...

yeah i like the naruhina couple as well im just ticked that no one even acknoledges (dont know how to spell that) naruto another thing i would like to rant about is the title genin everyone insults then because they are just genin they have killed jounin,chuunin etc. yet they still get on to them about being genin you want to see the power of a genin look at the naruto vs gaara battle (best battle evar) naruto didnt have rasengan and he only use a little of the foxes chakra so someone should acknoledge the genin i mean look at iruka has anyone ever seen him use any jutsu i havent yet hes a chuunin wtf
Spoiler: Yeah I've read all the manga so far and I think Naruto is frikin powerful. The only thing that sucks is he's not goanna use the Nine Tails Power anymore. I loved it when Naruto went Demon Mode on Saskae. And Demon Mode Four Tails on Orochimaru OMG that was the BEST. But hopefully his new training with Kakashi is goanna make him so awesome that he might not need it anymore.

Well Naruto along with DBZ is one of those shows which really should be watched several episodes at a time otherwise its annoying to keep up with. Hence why I gave up watching it on TV along with some other shows. Explaining the stuff is over the top, we know that Naruto probably put a Clone in instead, we know he probably Shikamaru snuck* his shadow behind you cause of that cliff behind you etc...
Spoiler: Naruto is twice as powerful as Kakashi without the Demon fox Chakra, and Kakashi is an Elite Ninja so I suspect he is fighting at a Jounin level and possibly even the Kage level near the end. I haven't read after the time skip but I heard he remains a Geninn so I would like to see what they do with that
Plus Gaara becomes Kazekage so if he is at the same level as Naruto what does that show you.
Spoiler: I'm not sure where you got that figure, but it certainly is not true. Naruto is a powerhouse (especially when possessed by Kyuubi), but Kakashi has his own specialties that puts him very high up there. The first few chapters after the time skip show this well enough. I won't say why since I am a stickler when it comes to spoilers (though I don't mind spoiling if you ask), but reading the manga should say it better than I can.
As for Gaara: Yes, he is Kazekage, but he is by no means at Kage level. A few chapters after the time skip will prove this. Even when taking into account that Hokage and Sannin are above that of other Kage, he is most likely at the level of a higher Jounin (but not Itachi level). This is probably where Naruto stands as well, but that is very dependent on the Kyuubi chakra at this point. Certain events may change that in the future.
Perhaps into the second arc of the second half of the series it becomes rather clear that Naruto is not the most powerful ninja. He has many flaws. Kyuubi does give him a lot of power, but it has many too many side effects that render it an unwise choice. Plus there's the whole thing about him using his own power, rather than relying on Kyuubi.

I had to see the episodes after the sasuke vs gaara fight, so anyone who wants to know what happens here it is
Spoiler: Sasuke goes after gaara and his squad, after Gaara passes out. Kakashi and Guy Sensei fight sand/sound ninja and Kakashi tells Sakura to wake up Naruto and Ikamaru to find Sasuke and summons a dog to lead the way. While jumping though trees, the dog smells some sound/sand ninja (9 of em) following the four. Ikamaru becomes a decoy and stays behind to fight them while the other 3 go ahead. Ikamaru uses the shadow possesion technique to distract 8 ninja. Then he realizes that the one is missing, but (I think It's his dad) kills the last ninja and surprises and kills the other 8) Sasuke catches up, after avoiding a multiple bomb trap, and Temari stays behind to fight while the last guy (forgot his name) takes gaara and runs. Sasuke defeats her (but not kills) and tries to catch up. Temari catches up as Sasuke stops him and she takes Gaara and runs. Then the bug guy shows up and takes on him while Sasuke goes after Gaara.
Well I'm tired, I watched a lot of subtitled episodes and now I guess I'll go to sleep. Chew on that until tomorrow.

Well, just watch until episode 136...then wait until Feb 15, 2007 and continue with Naruto: Shippuuden (Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles).
Basically, the second saga after the timeskip period is where the 'real' plot starts, with the introduction of the Akatsuki members and all.

i dont think it would make good episodes if all of them werent strong not to mention im sure they wouldnt be in the group if they werent strong itachi might be the strongest but not to a blind man lol
As a group they are much worse than Orochimaru. MUCH worse. Jiraiya even makes a mention of this. In their own way, some of them are probably on par with Itachi. But even at this point in the manga there are still unrevealed members (or revealed members with unrevealed abilities).
