During the recent Active Time Report, Tabata when into some details on how Versus XIII changed when it was rebooted as Final Fantasy XV. For those following the game since the announcement, there has been character absent from the trailers and screenshots since becoming FFXV. The heroine seen in Versus XIII talking to Noctis frequently and even looking to be fighting him at one point, Stella is no longer part of FFXV. Stella was replaced with Luna, who has been seen in the trailers and mentioned by Noctis' party as someone that they're trying to get to.
Apart from Stella's cut from the game, Tabata said that they have tried to keep as much of the original script that was made for Versus XIII as possible, but changes have and will happen. The scene often seen in Versus XIII trailers where there is a party and the invading army attacks during the party was cut since Noctis and his party leave before this happens. There are reasons, but they could not getting into the details as they were spoilers.
However, he did say that the City of Insomnia that is still be used and that there will still be gameplay and combat around the city. Insomnia is the Shinjuku inspired city seen previously.
Also they wanted to confirm that the Dragoon woman seen in the earlier trailers as well as the black haired woman are both still in the game.
