Slipknots psychosocial helps me take out my anger.
Anything except country and hard metal and hard metal similarities, but other than that any type.
Depends on the mood
Angry - Asking Alexandria
Happy - Blink (doubles my happiness)
Sad - Dashboard or Motion City soundtrack (acoustic)
Wanna Relax or just chill, maybe even go to sleep - Angels and Airwaves
I listen to this r&b group called Jagged Edge... I swear they have a song for every situation that i have been in in my whole life just about so i listen to them and i feel like im not the only person going thru what ever it is i am.....right now the song of choice is called "Whats It Like(to be in love)"
YouTube - Bless The Fall - Black Rose Dying (live) I've gotten really relaxed listening to that song lol. But depends on the mood honestly. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. is another song that I've been known to relax to. I could always pop in some TOOL and chill to that.
Mostly smooth jazz, classical, opera and certain classic rock songs do it for me. Basically anything that has a slower beat, like Sweet is the Night by ELO, Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd, are a couple classic rock songs that help me relax.
When I'm feeling down and depressed, I throw on some Nirvana and it helps shut out those feelings. :)
Typically it's Jazz, but I will go off the beaten track and use some pop.
To help me stay relaxed I have been listening to All That Remains quite a bit. My type of music hard f*cking guitar love it. Helps me relax more than anything.
Mozart does the trick. some of his minor symphonies ... flowing so effertlessly does the trick for me and sends me on a boat ride.
Anything with a violin, anything Hans Zimmer/Vitaliy Zavadskyy (those guys really know how to work an orchestra. Phenomenal work. I appreciate a nice bass player too. And people who really know how to work a tuba. I LOVE the tuba. It still has a special place in my heart. I miss being in a band.
Linkin Park also has a way with me. I love their music. New and old.
Dramatic music usually calms me too. I prefer pieces with a nice piano. I'm currently listening to The Lonely by Christina Perri. Not exactly the most joyful of pieces, but the music is fantastic.
I could go on forever about music. There's just so much and it's all so GOOD :)
OH, and Adelle. She's good too. Although her music is overplayed, I still love her voice. Soothes the soul.
I find all music relaxing. But if I am really pent up, I usually turn on Celtic Woman, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban, or Andrea Bocelli. I find that their music soothes the soul of not only of me, but of my cat Bit Bit as well. I also use classical music as a calming technique when playing Hitman. The power it has when I am trying to make a clean headshot is amazing!
Lately I have been listening to Adele absolutely fantastic voice I especially love watching her sing live (on tv of course) I burnt a disk of her album just for my car.
My comfort music is symphonic power metal, or melodeath (long as its not TOO heavy on the screaming, a little I like, too much is annoying). If I'm trying to relax, I especially like the above with female vocals. Amaranthe, Nightwish, Epica, Delain, antyhing similar.
I'm not sure I could list a 'type' of music that relaxes me. All music (that I like and therefore listen to) relaxes me -- the act of listening to music relaxes me.
But to pick an artist especially, I can't go past Yo La Tengo. I binged on them today and I felt so good.
Classical music, jazz music, and certain tracks from the Final Fantasy III, VII, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night soundtracks work wonders as well.
Here is my ultimate relax song:
Miles Davis
"Blue in Green"
Blue in Green by. Miles Davis - YouTube
When i feel depressed or sad i listen to Evanescence(as it is my favourite band), Trading Yesterday, sometimes to Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin (I luv these bands but they don't help me in calming down), The Fray and sometimes to slow instrumental music.
Whenever i'm out in public and i'm feeling anxious, i listen to music from the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack. Aside from steadying my nerves, it makes the real world feel more epic xD

Anything metal just gets me more angry. Road Rage FTW!
I listen to Common alot when i need to mellow out
This caught me off guard but this song (specifically the chorus) mysteriously gave me strength to try to overcome the funk that I have been going through over the last 2 months when I heard it from my mp3 player a couple of days ago (always had this song but my mp3 player is always on random)
As for the general music I listen to relax, hmm..maybe listen to some 80s classic rock music so it reminds me of being a child and feel worry free lol (yeah I am old >_>)
It used to be that only some kind of hard rock could calms my nerves. But lately thanks to mostly to Che I have been listening to a shit ton of dubstep. I have never heard something that can calm my nerves so damn fast. When I start listening to it I can't stay pissed haha.
Relaxation
Classic music does the trick, instrumental in general. As of lately, certain movie soundtracks as well, such as Inception. One song though has always been above everything else...
Trance helps me relax and feel at peace when I'm looking to unwind from a hectic day.
I love to listen the music of atif aslam, which is soft and heart touching.
