I picked up Nightwish's new album, "Dark Passion Play." I was quite looking forward to seeing how it would turn out, what with them getting a new singer and all (and I really adored the original one, so I was approaching this album with a little bit of skepticism). It was fairly impressive, and without a doubt, it was their best album instrumentally (their instrumental track on the new album may be one of my favourite songs of theirs, period.) Also, the song "The Islander," which is actually sung by Marco Heitala, is also quickly becoming one of my favourite songs of theirs. So yeah, I don't regret my purchase one bit; it's an extremely satisfying album!

The last CDs I bought were:

    Stereophonics- Pull the Pin
I love Stereophonics and their 6th studio album is no disappointment. The sound is much like that of previous album Language. Sex. Violence. Other?, so nice guitar riffs and that typical sexy gravelly voice of Kelly Jones! Can't wait until I hear them live on Sunday night.

Ian Brown- The World Is Yours.
I adored the song Illegal Attacks (which did cause some controversy amongst some groups of people, odd since to me the song is a strong anti-war song), so I bought this album. The music has the style and strength expected from the King Monkey, and theres a lot of good tracks.

Editors- An End Has a Start.
I actually need to listen to this album properly. Smokers Outside the Hospital Door is a really touching song, and An End Has A Start is extremely catchy. I feel that this album is much like their debeut "The Back Room" in the way that theres a few amazing tracks and a few very mediocre tracks. I guess a lot of albums are like that though.

The last cd I purchased was Nine Inch Nail - Year Zero.

The last CD I bought was the demo of a Danish doom metal band called Altar of Oblivion. I had actually promised myself not to buy any more CD's before next payday, but it was really cheap, and I like the band a lot.

I bought three CD's recently (and it occurs to me things would be less messy if I took Storm's approach in her latest post):

Nightwish: Dark Passion Play: I haven't listened to it a lot yet, but it is definitely another solid symphonic orchestra/metal album from this band. I don't know how I feel about the new singer; I think the one before her, who was there since the beginning, was better. I think she had more presence, or something. The new singer is good too, though. I also don't know if I like this new album as much as I liked "Once" (maybe it was the novelty value of "Once," as per that was the first album I think I've bought from this particular genre.)

This Is It: The Best of Faith No More: One of those things where I've known about a band for a long time, and only now am I taking much interest in them. It was mostly due to my brother putting "Surprise! You're Dead!" on a mixed CD he made for me this Summer. That song isn't on this album, but that's okay. I like their style; it's silly and kinda out of left field. Suits me perfectly.

Relient K: Let It Snow Baby; Let it Reindeer: I haven't actually listened to this one yet; saving it for Christmas.

I also got Jimmy Eat World's Follow This Light a couple weeks ago. More slow stuff, but still good. Anyhoo...

The White Stripes - Icky Thump.

I'd been meaning to pick this one up for a while and I wish had got it sooner. Without a doubt one of my favourite cds.

    "Undiscovered"
    Brooke Hogan's album.

It's alright, although I was hoping for my favorite song "Everything To Me" was on there, but it seems like it was just made for a video and not to be put on the album. *sigh* Oh well. I still have the second favorite "All About Us" so it's not a waste of money.

After a far too long period of listening without owning a CD, I finally bought some L'Ame Immortelle CDs. Now let's see if I can type their gigantic German names.

    Dann Habe Ich Umsonst Gelebt
    Als Die Liebe Starb
    Gezeiten

All 3 of these CDs are phenomenal. I absolutely love Sonja's voice (among other things about her >.>). It's also neat because these 3 CDs are the Russian version, which is odd seeing as how the Ebayer I bought them from listed his location as in the UK. I was a little concerened when I got a package straight from Moscow. I thought I may have pissed Putin off or something. Nonetheless, My CDs are not awsomer because they're the "special Russian versions" and have some Russian text on them. Really happy with these CDs.

    Until now!

Two weeks ago, I bought Disturbed "Ten Thousand Fists" and Dope "American Antipathy (sp?)". I'm a fan of Disturbed but I want their second album though. I previewed it a while back and I love almost about every song on their album. "Always" and "Survive" by Dope are my favorite songs are that album.

    anberlin - lost songs

this band never ceases to amaize me with there powerful music. even though their lyrics send out a christian message they are very strong and meaningful. their acoustic work is just amaizing. and stephen christian has the most beautiful voice i have ever heard.

A little while ago, I got Deep Purple's Perfect Strangers which got me interested in the later material of Mk2, so I just got:

The House of Blue Light by Deep Purple
The Battle Rages On... by Deep Purple

Upon the first listen The House of Blue Light didn't do much for me, but I haven't had time to listen to it properly yet, so my opinion might still change. The Battle Rages On... is on the other hand absolutely great and one of their, if not THE, heaviest album they ever made.

    Coldplay - Parachutes.

Yes I know it's old, but I got it on eBay for £3 and it's in almost mint condition. It also completes my Coldplay collection.

The last CD I bought was from Target and it was dum dum dum...T.I., T.I. Vs. T.I.P. It's actually pretty good. I really like it compared to his last album, King. which was also good. I still pop it into my car stereo every week or two and leave it in for a few days and I bought it way back in September when it came out. I can't believe I forgot when it came out -_-. It must have been that long ago. Too bad he's on house arrest, but he's doing his next new album Paper Trail yaaaaaaaay....lol. The CD is good though, it was the first decent debut in terms of record sales. I don't even skip any songs, well when I first got it. But now I just go through and listen to what I really wanna listen to because I heard it thouuuusands of times. I could hear it again and again for the upcoming months still..

The last Cd I bought was from FYE in the mall- it was "Depeche Mode, The Best Of"

    I <3 Depeche Mode.

80's music rocks my socks. I'm so strange, really.

Normally though I don't buy CD's, I get music... through other means.

I bought Less Than Jake's "Goodbye Blue and Gray," The Get Up Kid's Live Album, and the Parasites' Live Album. I am happiest with the Less Than Jake purchase right now, but I haven't listened to the other two all that much yet. I have noted that the Parasites album's recording is not of good quality at all, though. I knew it wasn't going to be all that great either because my brother got it before me and told me so, but I just wanted it so I could officially own an album of theirs, and it's the only one I could find; I discovered this past year through my brother's mp3 copies of their albums that they totally kick ass. I'll probably have to order their "Retropop" album off Amazon.com, or something. Anyhoo...

I don't know if this would count, but I recently picked up Dane Cook's Rough Around the Edges: Live from Madison Square Garden CD/DVD combo [I love the guy ^^]. I also picked up the Across the Universe soundtrack, even though I never saw the movie.

Well on Christmas I got "Drowning Pool-Full Circle" and Disturbed's "Believe". I'm actually not too fond of Drowning Pool's latest one really. I don't know, its different then "Tear Away", "Break You", or "Step Up". Its a decent CD though. Eventually, the songs will grow on me. ^^ As for Disturbed, I ****ing love the band. I can't wait to get their new one next year. In the meantime, I'm hoping to get Kanye West though. >< I mentioned that in the music thread but there's a lot of songs I like on there.

I've just ordered a Vanessa Carlton collection off eBay, she gets no coverage in these parts and I think she's a lovely songstress.

Yesterday, I went out and got Coheed and Cambria's newest album, and the soundtrack to the motion picture Juno. A few days before that, I got Coheed and Cambria's first album. I blame Rock Band for this sudden interest in the band, and its use of the song "Welcome Home." That song is on neither of the albums I got, unfortunately; I couldn't find the album it was on, either.

The movie Juno has a very mellow, kinda odd soundtrack. That's what attracted me to it. Anyhoo...
