Music of 2013

I don't think there's a thread on this already. But my search just consisted of searching the thread titles for "2013" so I could be wrong.

My laziness aside...

2013 has been a great year for music, at least for my taste. I have a Spotify playlist I might share here later. But stand-outs for me are My Bloody Valentine's mbv, Queens of the Stone Age's ...Like Clockwork, Daft Punk's latest (which they're already remixing, to my bemusement), and Evil Friends by Portugal. The Man. (Don't you just hate bands who put punctuation into their name )

Honourable mentions to albums from The Flaming Lips, Kanye West, CZARFACE, Thee Oh Sees, Mikal Cronin, an EP by Lorde, and Surfer Blood.

What have been your stand outs his year? If I like them, I'll throw them into my playlist. Just to make my intentions entirely clear.

I have a journal entry with my top 10 songs on the year thus far. Figure hardly anyone ever responds to anything like this, so... But yeah; the Dirty Royal's Star Burrito EP is pretty awesome, The Night Marchers' Allez Allez, Streetlight Manifesto's The Hands That Thieve, The Joy Formidable's Wolf's Law, Larry and His Flask's By the Lamplight just came out, Crazy & the Brains' Let Me Go... I'm not being very descriptive, sorry. Dirty Royals is like an alternative pop band, The Night Marchers are like garage rock I think you'd call it, Streetlight Manifesto is ska, The Joy Formidable are straight up awesome, Larry and His Flask are bluegrass-punk, Crazy & the Brains are like xylophone pop punk... I gotta go, but check those out. Maybe I'll think of more later. Anyhoo...

Thanks! Yeah, Yo La Tengo's album came out in January - unsurprisingly, it's terrific, they're so consistent.

Colleen Green - Sock it to Me

Just getting around to listening to this. Fantastic. Possibly my new favourite release this year. A stoner and a drum machine. What else is there in life? Nothing else I need to know about it.

I can't find my favourite track on YouYube. That's 'Close to Me', which (unfortunately?) is not a Cure cover, but the bass is just as cool. EDIT: Actually, HTTP link courtesy of Spotify.
