I tend to make a folk thread on forums with metal threads for the lulz. Anyway, this shall be the thread for discussion of all folk music (folk metal is allowed as well, so that we can be bros and stuff) Personally, I love technical music, along with emotional and fun. I really like to watch people play as well as hear it. My tastes range from classical to bluegrass to blues to rock n roll and so on.

I dislike a lot of the boring bluegrass out there, but I love newgrass. New Grass Revival, California/Berline Crary Hickman and of course most of the stuff Sam Bush was involved with and so on. An interesting band that never got as big as they deserved (imo) is Bonepony, if you what I have mentioned interests you, give these guys a listen.

They're a mix between bluegrass, blues and rock, but done VERY tastily. All the guys are just geniuses. Scott Johnson has a great rock n roll voice with a tinge of country that just works perfectly. He plays the drums on one song live and usually plays some kind of percussion with his foot. Just about any Bonepony song involves his 1337 harmonica playing.

Nick Nguyen is the main lead/melody guy. He takes care of all the stringed instrument parts, usually picking up guitar, dobro, fiddle, banjo and mandolin with his guitars usually tuned to various obscure tunings. He occasionally plays viola, cello and keyboards, all while playing bass pedals with his foot.

Kenny Wright is mainly the drummer, but picks up a guitar quite a lot as well. He occasionally plays mandolin, mandola and dulcimer. He's not too shabby at singing either.

I figure the ridiculousness of the band may interest a few of you enough to give em a listen
