Who's Your Favorite Anime Character?

This is a problem for a poll. There are tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of likable Anime characters out there.

On topic, my favorite is Guts from Berserk. He weilds what I guess is a 300 lbs long sword like I swing a twig and slice three people in two with one punishing blow.

My favorite anime character of all is Mikoto Minagi from Mai Hime, she a strong character and also a funny character. A character that a lot of people relate to. Go Mikoto do your cat thing girl.

Anyhoo, my favorite anime character ever...? That's tough, and requires calculated decision making... Evidently, after making some kind of rudimentary ranking system, I've come down to choosing between Maes Hughes of FMA and Krillin from DBZ. I think I have to go with Krillin on this one. He is the man. He is the ultimate second fiddle, and ultimately, I find myself gravitating to the second fiddles; I relate to them the most, because I kinda feel like a second fiddle most of the time. Here are some others that I considered:

Misato and Kaji, Neon Genesis Evangelion: two awesome characters. Misato was just a nice, caring individual, and Kaji was the man on that show.

Spoiler: Come on; he faced his death with a smile, if I recall correctly.

Plus, of all the characters, Kaji was the least messed up.

Spike and Jet, Cowboy Bebop: They make it because Bebop might possibly be my favorite anime ever. Jet made it a little further on my tier list; again with the second fiddle.

Greed and Armstrong, Full Metal Alchemist: I found Greed to be the most likable of the Homunculus, and Armstrong was just awesome.

Arucard and Victoria, Hellsing: Arucard is possibly the most bad ass character I've ever seen in an anime, and Victoria was cute and had boobs.

Trowa Barton, Gundam Wing: Gotta give a shout out to "No Name" and his Heavy Arms.

Master Roshi and Trunks (Future), Dragon Ball Z: I go back and forth a lot over whether I like Roshi, Trunks, or Krillin the best in DBZ, actually. Ultimately, I think I can relate to Krillin the most, but Roshi is an awesome dirty old man, and Trunks I can also relate to a bit, although he is kind of a wooden character.

Kon, Ikkaku, Keisuke, Bleach: If I'd responded at this time a couple years ago, one of these might be my favorite.

Kamina, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: So full of confidence, in himself and others. He was great for comic relief and inspiration alike. I almost feel like he should be up there with Krillin and Hughes.

Spoiler: His death was one of the more powerful deaths in anime for me, though I think it was a brilliant move on the part of the story writers.

Hmm...I went to respond to this (partially in response to seeing Taco post, which brought back old memories), but it seems I've already answered this question...nearly three years ago (towards the beginning of the thread) -_-'

So be it!

However, in the past few years, I'd like to add to that list:

Kenzo Tenma and Wolfgang Grimmer, both from Monster, which has gone on to become one of my highest ranked...things ever (not even anime...just...stuff in general).

Also, the character of Light Yagami in Death Note has to make the list because he's also such a well-written, multi-faceted character that he really lends himself well...not so much to likability, but at least to fascination.

Well, that's an update on my two cents from 2005. There are probably more I'm forgetting at the moment...maybe I'll mention them again in 2011!?

Anyway its too hard to say any 1 character in particular as theres just so many.

First and foremost I'll have to say Miyuki from Lucky Star, shes so adorable and perfect but unfortunately shes underrated probably due to not getting enough screen time. Don't get me wrong Konata is adorable but Yuki-chan <3333

Secondly Sueseiseki the sweet desu girl, she's fiesty yet clingy which is something you don't often see. Shes a tease without being a bitch, its so cute. I wish desu girl was real, I would take good care of her.

As for the guys Vegeta is simply badass theres no too ways about that, always being 1uped from Goku whilst everybody becomes so dependent on him. Its a shame how badly they ruined him in DBGT but hes still the best Anti-Hero.

Other cool characters include Nyu/Lucy (Elfen Lied), Ceras Victoria (Hellsing), Kenshiro (FoTNS), Claire (Claymore) and Ichigo (Bleach)

Hibari Kyoya and Mukuro Rokudo (Katekyo Hitman Reborn): I love them BOTH, so much I can't make one better than the other in my book. Plus my view on the two: Take both or neither.
Yoko (Gurren Lagann): Who doesn't love redheads that carry around rifles lol She's just...awesome :3
Kallen Stadfeld/Kozuki (Code Geass): Another awesome redhead :3
Nicholas D. Wolfwood (Trigun): My favorite gun-toting, chain-smoking priest...too bad what happened to him in the end T_T
Vash the Stampede (Trigun): Another awesome Trigun character <3
Dante (Devil May Cry): Still just as awesome as his game counterparts~

Of Great Teacher Onizuka fame.
I've never seen another anime, let alone another anime character that makes me crack up just as much as this guy. And he's the type of guy I enjoy seeing win, partially as he's not a complete git like many main characters I see in several anime and video games.

Okay, brace yourself. I have more than one favorite anime character, so because I'm in the mood.. I'll list them all. I'll edit this later when I remember more.

Skip Beat!
Ren Tsuruga- Not entirely like every other anime character. I like how he smiles when he's pissed.
Kyoko Mogami- I liked her overall crazy behavior. Reminds me of myself.

Ouran High School Host Club
Tamaki Suoh- He's a complete goofball. Probably one of the funniest characters in the show.
Mitsukuni Haninozuka/Honey- Cute but evil.. I love it.

Vampire Knight
Zero Kiryu- I just like him. There's no particular reason. He's not that unique.. very angsty like half the anime males.
Yuki Cross- Nothing entirely interesting about her, but she's not a typical anime girl. I prefer her later in the series when she acts more in charge.
Hanabusa Aidou- He's a bit snotty, but it's funny when he screws up.

Princess Tutu
Fakir- Sort of your typical badass type in the beginning of the series, but I like how his character melds out later on.
Ahiru- Another character with a few loose screws. She's loud, obnoxious, clumsy, and full of energy. Tis amusing.

Perfect Girl Evolution
Sunako Nakahara- Okay.. this character is really unique. I haven't seen a female in any other anime get a nosebleed other than her. And her love for morbidness is funny. The fact that she can fend for herself and not act all cutesy makes me like her even more. She's the scary chibi girl in my user profile .

Excel Saga
Excel- Yet another crazy character. I seem to like these types, haha.
Ilpalazzo- I like his grumpyness.
Menchi- Cutest anime critter ever.

Trigun
Vash- I LOVE Vash. He's so funny and quirky. He makes the funniest expressions.
Wolfwood- Gotta love his confession box. I like the perky/quirky characters.

Cowboy Bebop
Ed- a fun character with a cute personality.
Spike- Gotta love his blunt nature and the fro.
Faye- Her bitchyness amuses me.
Jet- Nice and straight to the point. He adds to the humor.

FLCL
Haruko- Psycho alien chick. She's one of the weirdest anime girls. Put her up on the list with Excel.. they'd prolly get along real well.

Tsubasa Chronicle
Fay- He's so cute and I love when he picks on Kurogane with Mokona.
Kurogane- He reminds me of my own character from one of my stories. He tries to act all nasty,but gets bullied by the others and his reactions are just funny.

Howl's Moving Castle
Howl- Howl.. I just thought he was pretty cool and interesting.

Witch Hunter Robin
Amon- I just simply liked him.
Robin- Ditto as above.

Death Note
L- Really weird, and that's what I like about him.

One thing that irked me about Anime is that the majority of characters are prepubescent schoolkids. Luckily there are some exceptions.

Guts (Berserk) is definately the most brutalist mo fo I'd never want to fark with. He's two meters tall, his arms bigger than the barrel a naval battleship cannon, his sword longer than his height, and the blade is so thick that it must weigh well over 300 lbs. He knows the brutal truth about life, that shit happens and it we're all farked in the end because God is a prick and only wants to see us suffer. Yet he continues kicking ass knowing that the ending isn't gonna be happy.

Kenshiro (Fist of the North Star): Bruce Lee with bionic steel implants in his arms would be a good way to describe him, but his pure bad assitude lies within his knowledge of pressure points and how to puncture them so thus the opposition dies a needlessly brutal and inhumane death.

Well...let's start with the team I'd like to see grouped as a 4-man RPG team:

--Guts/Gattsu (Berserk): easily the guy upon which the archetypal "big-ass sword wielding warrior" is based. Everybody just has to love him. Your typical cynical guy, that melancholic masochist who'd rather solve his predicament with gallons of blood poured from cutting the limbs, heads and innards of his opponents. But deep down, he's a nice guy. What with hanging with a pixie and everything.

--Dark Schneider (Bastard!!): the crowd controller. Nothing says better "pretentious, obnoxious, power-hungry megalomaniac" than having a spell that virtually every single magic-attuned individual in its world knows you're using. Because it transmutes anything into a puddle of blood. Then there's the heavy-metal themed spellcasting (Helloween. 'Nuff said). Plus, he's the hero you simply have to hate; lecherous psychopath. In one word: a Bastard. Which is the source of the anime's name.

--Jubei Kibagami (Ninja Scroll): your typical dps/skill monkey. Ninja Scroll is almost legendary, and mostly because of the distilled amounts of badass that Jubei brings into the scene. With a sword and a cord, he does better assassinations (and graphically pleasing ones).

--Kuro "Black Jack" Hazama (Blackjack): who'd have imagined that the creator of Astro Boy would make a badass doctor!!! Aside from being the most altruistic and of the highest moral standard in the group, his surgeon skills are downright supernatural. Plus, he can kick monumental amounts of buttocks with a great combo of scalpels and martial arts. He'd be your healer, and probably the face of the group.

...Alright, placing the ideal 4-man group outta the way, I'll add some few that I like to see every now and then:

--Ranma, Nabiki, Tsubasa Kurenai (Ranma 1/2)
--Kenshiro, Raoh, Toki (aka the [barely]-Holy Trinity of Manliness) The equivalents of Christ, Satan and Moses but with their Gar rating (aka manliness) kicked up several notches.
--Hayate Ayazaki (Hayate the Combat Butler)
--Pretty much the entire cast of Black Lagoon, but I incline for Revy, Roberta, and the psycho twins. ESPECIALLY THE PSYCHO TWINS!
--Pretty much the entire cast of Saint Seiya, with the lead (Seiya), Ikki, and Rhadamanteis on the top, and a bit of Hyoga. The few bishounen who just happen to be extremely manly; they blur the line between Bishie and Gar.
--The Vongola family: Tsuna, Gokudera, Yamamoto, Bianchi, the Prefect, and of course Reborn (Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn!)
--Gon, Killua, Leorio and Kurapika (HunterxHunter). Where overrated power doesn't equal boredom. Also, Hisoka (what you'd get by introducing either the Joker or Kefka into anime)
--Team Ueki (The Law of Ueki)
--Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, and perhaps Usopp when he's into his Sogeking persona (One Piece). Mostly Luffy because he's the greatest example of what one person can do with a seemingly useless power. Lesson: you don't have to be Storm or Professor X to be powerful; just ask Magneto
--Gai Daigoji (Nadesico). He's to Hot-Blooded what Raoh is to Gar (because Guy Shishioh out-"Nekketsu" poor Gai)
--As Nate said: Great Teacher Onizuka (from the same anime). Also, Urumi Kanzaki, the "Teacher-Killer"
--As Ang said, and I expand: most of the cast of "Claymore". From Claire (aka Female Gattsu) to the rest.
--Jin Saotome (Getter Robo), mostly when he goes solo and pilots the Black Getter. Frickin' inventor who dabbles in hot-blooded mecha piloting...
--...and while at that, let's add Kouji Kabuto to the mix (Mazinger/Mazinkaiser). He redefined the concept of hot-blooded Super Robot piloting.
--The cast of Saiyuki (Sanzou, the real Goku, Gojyo and Hakkai, plus Jeep and [S]hermaphrodite peace[/S] goddess Kanzeon Bosatsu. Oh, and team Kougaiji, mostly for Lirin.

Probably missing a few, but here's what I recall from the anime I've seen and the manga I currently have.

Too many to choose from. My favorite from Naruto is Sasuke. He's cool and cute(Sakura moment). I reeeeaaaalllllly like Inuyasha. Soooooo cuuuuuute with the puppy dog ears and funny to watch him lose his short temper with Kagome's comeback with "S" "I" "T"(lol). The other two is good to watch but not as good as Inuyasha and Kagome.

Mmm... I think my favourite anime character is Tohru from Fruits Basket. She's just so refreshing, seeing the good in everyone and always doing her best to help. I really would love to be like her.. and like to think I see some elements of myself... Tohru just is a breath of fresh air really ^_^

I also love Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist x3 He's so funny and the short jokes never seem to get old

Mmm... I also have a thing for Inu Yasha... I think it's his hair and ears...
