    Movies of 2012

Same as my "Games of 2012" thread. Which movie/s are you looking forward to most this year and why?

A lot of movies starting with "the" on this list =D

Several movies caught my eye, Hobbit, Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises. Both Hobbit and Prometheus, prequels to their respective franchise (Lord of the Rings and Alien), look exciting and gorgeous, both done by excellent director (Peter Jackson and Ridley Scott) so I'm really looking forward to these two. As for The Dark Knight Rises, huge fan of Nolan in general and his work on Batman, the first two were amazing and I'm sure same will be said for the third one.

Although I'm not really for reboots, especially this early, The Amazing Spider-Man also looks promising, seems to be more faithful to comics opposite to what Sam Raimi did (a pretty darn good job nevertheless).

    Re: Movies of 2012

I'm looking forward to The Hunger Games. I read the books and it'll be interesting to see what they've com up with. It'll probably suck, but I have hope for it! Snow White and The Huntsman has caught my eye. I think Kristen Stewart is playing Snow White. I know a lot of people don't like her, but I think she's alright

It annoys me how old movies are being re-released. Reminds me of that South Park episode when Steven Spielberg and George Lucas I think, were trying to re-release Indiana Jones or something. I can't remember exactly.

Ones I'm looking forward to from that list:

    Brave - because it's Pixar
The Avengers - because it's Joss Whedon
The Dark Knight Rises - because Christopher Nolan's Batman films have been very good
The Hobbit - because I loved LOTR and I'm curious to see if they can manage it again

Looking forward to the Avengers, Prometheus and the Dark Knight Rises personally.

The Avengers is directed by Joss Whedon who can pretty much take anything and make it five times better.
Prometheus is the first sci fi film Scott has done since Bladerunner, and my god does he know how to do sci fi.
In my opinion, the Dark Knight was the best english language movie of the noughties. I have similarly high expectations for the new Batman. And has Nolan ever made a movie that was less than sublime.

I am most excited for Men In Black III. Funny shit. Normally I would be excited for The Avengers, but lately superhero movies have all been shit. With the exception of the Iron Man movies. Captain America, Thor, Hulk, all shit. I was very disappointed about Thor was expecting a great movie.

Sitting here waiting for Rocky, and Che to notice me!!

    Re: Movies of 2012

I am all about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The book is my favorite book ever. I'm concerned with how it's going to translate cinematic form-particularly since Peter Jackson is making it more with the feel of his LotR trilogy in mind, and the Hobbit book was very different in tone-but I'm sure it'll be fun.

Also want to see the Dark Knight Rises. How will this thrilling trilogy conclude?! Can Christopher Nolan top the last entry? Is the God Damn Batman going to die?! We'll find out!

Excited for Prometheus too, even though I didn't know it was going to happen until a few months ago. The man who started it all is back with the Aliens franchise! FUCK YES.

Then there's Brave. Lauren Faust started out directing it, but they kicked her off for some reason I forget. Hopefully there's some residual Faustness going on there. EDIT: Oh, it wasn't Lauren Faust. Brenda Chapman. Faust just talked about it in a blog entry, I think.

I want to see Avengers, although I am rather concerned that there might be too many big name characters there... they might try to do too much in one movie. How are they gonna balance it? This has a lot of potential to fail... Although all the movies leading up to this were great (although I slept through Hulk's movie, so I'm not sure how it was.)

That's about it. I might like the Hunger Games, but I dunno. Anyhoo...

    Re: Movies of 2012

Mine is Prometheus. I only watched the trailer the other day, and it look a-mazing. Can't wait to see it. Also the fact that Ridley Scott, one of my favourite directors, and Michael Fassbender, who is one of my favourite actors, are involved make this a must watch for me.

Also looking foward to Avengers Assemble (as it's called in the UK) and The Dark Knight Rises. Been looking foward to these for a very long time.

The one I am least looking foward to is The Amazing Spider-Man. The trailer does not look good at all, I hate the guy who is playing Peter Parker and, worst of all, they have messed with the classic suit! I would have rather they focused on an older Spider-Man rather than start the franchise again.

Can't wait for Skyfall. I've been a huge James Bond fan all my life and I think Daniel Craig plays a very good Bond (still prefer Brosnan over him though). Another not listed is The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio, one of my favorite actors today and based on the work of an all-time great novel. Overall, should be a great rest of the year film-wise.

The film I'm most excited to see come out this year is of course The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, I haven't read any of the books but the trailer for this looks awesome and I loved the LoTR's movies

Having read all of J.R.R. Tolkien's books, I'm squeamishly anticipating 'The Hobbit'.
I'm also pretty excited about 'The Dark Knight Rises' (Christian Bale won't do another one?)
'The Expendables 2' I hope, will have less Statham scenes than the last one.
But I honestly don't know what to expect from 'The Avengers' *sigh*
