    Marvel, DC, or other?

So, I know I'm not the only comic collector/enthusiast in this forum and I'd like to know some of your favorite heroes. First, do you tend toward Marvel, DC, or some other company? And then within that, what series do you read or collect? And why do you enjoy that character/series so much?

For me it's Marvel normally. I like a few DC heroes, and I've been dancing with the idea of reading Green Lantern comics, but for now it's Marvel. My favorites are Thor and Ghostrider because of the Mythology/Occult connections. I've collected a lot of Mighty Thor issues, several of them consecutive, but I have a long way to go. I particularly enjoy the early 90s issues in which the actual Thor is exiled and his powers are given to a mortal man, Eric Masterson. He changes up the attitude and style. I like Ghostrider as well, but I have only a few actual comics and a few essential collection volumes. I'd like a lot more, but it depends on the price and how much time i've got to devote to it.
Own: Origins (I&II), III (DS), Chronicles (IV), Anthology (V&VI), VII, 7-DoC, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XII, Tactics, TA

Looking to Buy: TA2, and XII-RW

    Haven't played: XIII, 7-CC, XIIRW, TA2

Complete: I, II, III, IV, VII, VIII, X, MQ

-I am something of a perfectionist in that I don't consider a run through to the end a complete game. I have to complete everything possible.

Favorite non-FF RPG: Legend of Dragoon (Total Complete 8 times)

Current Goal: Bit of a break from Final Fantasy and into Kingdom Hearts. I've beaten Kh, Re:CoM, and I'm halfway through both KH2 and Days

    Re: Marvel, DC, or other?

DC comics were never really available for purchase at place where I lived, except for few well known ones such as Batman franchise, thus forcing me to lean towards their biggest rivals, Marvel.

I grew up with Marvel, reading mostly Spiderman, and X-Men comics, later on I got into Cable, and Deadpool which became my favorite piece in Marvel universe. Spiderman is by far my favorite hero, I could associate with him the most since he was just a geek. I personally don't collect comics, I had a small collection when I was a kid, mostly what my brother gave me, I really don't what happened to it. However I do plan on buying Batman Hush chapters, and Cable, and Deadpool as soon as I have extra cash.

Marvel aside I also like reading comics made by Italian artists such as Luciano Secchi and his famous Alan Ford, Zagor, Nathan Never, and Dylan Dog among others.

Marvel, when I was younger I wasn't aloud to read the DC. I was always a big fan of Wolverine and the X-Men, and that's carried over to the next generation like X-Force. Red Hulk is pretty cool to though.

Definitely Marvel, though DC isn't bad at all.

Comics aren't really available where I live, but I did read on several heroes on the Internet so that counts for something. It was only recently that I checked out a few Ultimate Spider-Man comics from the library, but that's about it.

However, I played the games and watched the movies and cartoons, and I just have to go with Spider-Man. At least, I used to think Peter Parker always looked like a healthy man -- and not like a geek -- whenever I watched the Spider-Man cartoon from the 90s.

Marvel for me too. I am a huge fan of many of the series. Favourites would have to be Ghost Rider, Iron Man and Punisher. Big fan of Spider-Man, War Machine and Gambit too.

I am a big vintage comic collector. Anything before the 1990s if gold for me. I have a few that are worth a lot of money like Ghost Rider #31 (which was produced in polythene with a poster, all of which are intact and in very good condition). I have read a lot of new comics, sort of after 2000.

DC is great too. It has a lot of good heroes, like Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash etc. I don't have many DC comics, but I do have a nice re-release of the first appearence of Robin.

As for other comics, Dark Horse is very good at adaptions from movies, such as Alien, Predator and Star Wars, among others. They also published Sin City, which is a fantastic series.

See, this is what I need to start doing. I have a lot of old comics, but they are relatively unprotected and the condition isn't exactly perfect on a few. I'm gonna get covers for them when I get my next paycheck.

Check out the Avy, and Sig Broski's Red Lantern FTW... I am a huge DC fan, can't say there is any individual hero/villian that I don't like.

Marvel is great too though. X-Men, Thor, Spidey, etc..

Both are good, but for DC takes the cake..

    Re: Marvel, DC, or other?

I'm with Josh up here; DC wins, but not quite by a landslide.

Never been a big fan of Superman... I love the concept and the idea, but he's so ridiculously overpowered (save the well-known weakness to a rock) that it makes it really difficult for me to appreciate him as a hero.

Batman is perhaps the exact opposite. A guy with resources and a steel will, going about his business as a normal human with no special powers or abilities whatsoever... perhaps that's what I appreciate about Marvel's Iron Man as well.

Definitely enjoy the Green Arrow, another similar to Batman with no "real" powers to speak of. Heightened reflexes and immaculate aim, perhaps, but no superhuman abilities.

And the Green Lantern series is awesome. Period. All of the Lanterns!

That's not to say that Marvel isn't also awesome... just not as big a fan. Best X-Man is definitely Gambit, just a thought... Wolverine is a certifiable badass though, and anyone who tries to deny it doesn't appreciate hardship and attitude; like him or not, he's awesome.

One of my favorite DC works, however, is Superman: Red Son. It's one of those "what if" scenario novels that really makes you scratch your head and wonder... what if... Superman landed 12 hours later/earlier in Soviet Russia...

Dark Horse stuff is GREAT but doesn't have the same impact on the culture that Marvel & DC do.

Wow make it a third for me. Gambit is by far my favourite of the X-Men, and also I'm a long time Green Lantern fan.

    Re: Marvel, DC, or other?

DC for me they are better heroes in my opinion.
I bought a bunch of the DC showcase books and i am reading the new Green Lantern Emerald Knights,

I also have a good few superhero t-shirts haha my favourite of the X-Men would probably be Nightcrawler he is just awesome.

Heres a question guys Batman or Iron Man and why?

For me it would probably be Iron Man for a start i prefer War-Machine to Robin and Tony Stark is a funnier character and i know Bruce isn't meant to be but it's just better for me that he is. Iron Man as a character personality just seems more believeable for someone with so much money and brains.
