Huge fan of the genre but in this day and age it seems to be splitting in to different categories that I'm not all entirely interested in. I've always been hooked on those sci-fi types but I struggle to find an appreciation for the ones that used the music or sharp/loud sounds to raise you adrenaline before/if anything happened. It's a difficult one to explain my love for them but I find with most horror you see today are the ones that rely strictly on those sound effects that for me to be able to focus on the art of it, I find I have to turn the sound down for some of this new stuff. But again, a lot of movies has no rhyme or rhythm and are there strictly for the shock factor. Angantyr and I were discussing flicks back in August and she told me about a movie called "Grave Encounters" and that movie did not disappoint. I can veer in to all horror types, but it needs certain elements and original story to get my approval.
