Square Enix has clarified more details about the upgrade plan for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on the consoles. Announced last week, all PS3 players will have a free upgrade from the PS3 version to the PS4 version when it becomes available. However, it is important to know that when you make the transfer the PS3 version of the game, you will not be able to login in on the PS3 version. Considering, the PS4 version is going to be superior, this is probably not much of an issue for people, but it is important to understand going in. Yoshida stated that the transfer is a transfer for login rights. So it'd be like needed to two copies of the game one for PS3 and one for PC if you wanted to play on both.
He did also give a few details about how the PS4 version will work. He said that the PS4 version will allow mouse, in addition to the standard keyboard use. It will be able to run at 1080p. The Dualshock 4's touchpad can be a substitute for the mouse. It will also be supported on remote play by the Vita, but voice the concern that due to screen size, the text box would be difficult to read. He said the PS4 version will be demoed by the end of the year and it will be indistinguishable from the PC version.
