    News Post Moonfire Faire Event

The summer event for Final Fantasy XIV has begun, the Moonfire Faire Event. In tradition of FFXI and FFXIV past summers, the summer event is an annual event where the players can do everything things to earn special event equipment. In the case of this, it is swimsuits and many different types.

The event comes in a few parts which I'll detail in the following post with all of the specifics. But for now the event began today and currently does not have an end date due to the server congestion that is still being experienced. They want everyone to have their chance to partake in the event.

Thanks to hard working players earlier in the day they have everything already mapped out. The resource I'm using is Allakhazam for this. A link will be available below, but for the direction information you want.

    The event works in stages.

    1. There are 6 FATEs around the world that will pop randomly. The name is "Return of the King" The FATEs come in several different level ranges so everyone will be able to try. Jump to this post if you want to know how the FATE works. http://thefinalfantasy.net/forums/fi...ml#post1349798
    2. Completing a FATE earns you "Wet Bombard Ash" the event item you need. A Gold award for the FATE will grant 30 ash.
    3. Event Shop keepers will be in each of the main towns, the event item is your currency to buy the event gear. 4. Buy what you want and enjoy! Note: I've attached the female version of the swimsuits, if someone has the male I'll attach them as well.
Note: If you want to buy all of the gear specific to your gender you'll need 90 ashes.

Past summer events have had multiple stages and games throughout, if more are made available I'll update this post with the details.

I'll post pictures as I can so you can see the what there is to pick from.

If you want to know how the FATE works, I'll outline it here. Considering that this is a seasonal event, it is unlikely that there won't be a lot of a people. So strategy doesn't really factor in, it is going to be a spam fest.

The way the FATE is setup is at the center is a large balloon, this balloon will spawn the minions you'll need to kill to complete the FATE. To complete the FATE 100 must be killed in 15 minutes. The spawning balloon will mostly do nothing, but spawn monsters and doesn't attack one specifically. It does however have a large AoE attack it uses every minute or so that anyone inside the attack will be knocked back and left with the status terror for 8 seconds. Terror will leave you unable to take any action while it is up.

The minions goal is to go towards the outer ring of the FATE where three friendly balloons are. You must protect these from being attacked. It is however, a good time to take out a lot at once.

Best tactics are to use quick actions that are instant or AoE to grab as many as possible to earn the gold medal. Thaumaturge or Black Mage are great for this, like they are for many FATEs with large numbers of minions. Blizzard II spam is the most common tactic.

They've been saying that they were going to do an event shortly after launch. I suspect that the problems the couple weeks in launch delayed it. But glad they finally started it, though I wish they had yukata as well not just swimsuits.

Yeah, I don't know how long rest exp builds for. I had a ton built up over last week, but I've noticed it doesn't seem to be based on a specific exp value, but rather a percentage of the meter. Since I rested on my lv 30+ 200k to level mage and the meter was full of rest exp, 200k "worth". But once I switched over to a lv 1 class the rest meter was gone in like a few levels, which was clearly not 200k. So I'd say that rest exp is best used on your higher level classes to get the most out of it. Lower level classes will burn it away too fast to worthwhile.

    ...?

I wonder when this started? I have a lot of wet bombard ash already from the FATE in Costa Del Sol, and was tempted to discard it since I couldn't figure out what it was for.

I suppose they just never announced that it had started because of the server problems.
