Moments You Remember

Everyone has them. A great time running a dungeon with the most awesome people you've ever met or the last second save that gives everyone the victory. There's plenty of moments. So what are those great moments from playing that you'll never forget or just something purely awesome happened or perfection happened. Whatever.

I mostly bring it up because I had one of those moments tonight. I was running DFR in Longstop Hard for my soldiery. Standard stuff at this point, everyone in the group already had ran it before. They knew what they were doing. We were all here for a fun quick time. Past runs I made with experienced tanks tended to pull half the first area. Wasn't a problem. I burned them down no problem, BLM's Flare is the best. ^^

Anyway, that's the way things are looking this time as well. However, the tank doesn't stop at half. He pulls all the way up to the ramp. I didn't count, but I'm pretty sure he had 9 guys on him. He seemed to be doing ok, and the WHM was keeping him alive, barely at times. I was doing my thing Fire 3 to Flare to transpose rotation. Things looked fine until the monsters had like 15-25% HP left. The tank falls and with the way I was going to town on the mobs I knew I was next.

So I did the only thing I could, BLM tank time! ^^ Stand my ground and look all 9 straight in the eye and tell them all I'm taking you all down. I popped Manawall to buy me some time. I was already back on my Flare. So I toss that, 0 mp, I can't transpose and expect to get another off. I hit Convert, a risky move, but I need the MP. Then I do Swiftcast and Flare. I killed the whole group and saved the rest of the party from death.

No panic or freak out, just dug in and executed. It was a smooth and perfect execution. Considering what BLM has, it would seem like a simple and normal thing, but that many guys and no tank. Have to act fast or you're dead. Don't know when I'll be able to do something like that again, but wow that felt really good.

I won't be forgetting that for a while. ^^

This was a couple weeks ago, as I've cleared Leviathan EX recently, but stuck out to me pretty well.

I had joined a Titan EX party as Dragoon, I was still doing my first clears of the EX primals and have had Titan HM on farm, so dodging wasn't an issue there. So I snuck into a Party Finder group for it. Didn't say progression or kill group or anything, so I figured I'd be able to just sneak in and get away with it.

Until everyone realized that the raid wouldn't start. Why? I hadn't attuned.

Everyone was pretty annoyed. I was told I'd be given two shots before I'd be kicked. Everyone hates Dragoons.

So we go in, I'm pretty nervous from both first-timing and having the pressure of being insta-kicked for multiple reasons.

....And yet I was the last, or near last DPS to die each and every wipe. I asked them if it counted when I was the 4th player to die, they pretty much gave up on the criticism. From what I understand, I did well because I had Titan HM on a daily "Let's kill this for fun" with my friend Kallistra. We had every mechanic down like breathing in HM, the conversion was not nearly as difficult as I had assumed to head into EX.



Another big one would be getting my Scholar clears on Ifrit and Leviathan EX. It shows how much I've learned of the job, I'm enjoying each new thing I learn about healing and new things I can do to increase my performance. Getting Whispering Dawn double-buffed with Fey Illumination and Rouse is pretty fun.
