It's becoming a bit of a regular occurrence now that the Letter from the Producer has something new to tease in the upcoming patch. The big news from it is that Patch 2.25 hits tonight and there will be a 2.28 along with the name of the new weapons that Animus Weapons upgrade into. While Square's been fairly silent about 2.25, the big expectation from it was the promise of new relic weapon upgrades. The Atma and Animus weapons are the current top range of the upgrade path, but Yoshida stated that he did not expect most would be finished by the time the next upgrade in 2.25 hit. However, he's now stated in the Letter, that 2.25 will no longer have the next upgrade for the Animus. The new upgrade will be held off until Patch 2.28 as they are wanting to take the feedback from Atma/Animus into account, likely the fan reaction to the means is what has caused them re-evaluate their course. It does suggest that the next upgrade might be more like the Atma where it is random drop chance, but it is merely speculation.
Yoshida was able to say that the confirmed 2.28 patch will be in May. The new upgrades for the weapons will be called the Novus Weapons. Further details beyond that remain unknown.
Focused on the new patch out tonight, 2.25 will deliver new updates and changes to PvP in the Lion's Den. The other detail added was something for the materia. He said a new system involving materia, but nothing more about what that means. It won't be long before the patch notes for 2.25 are released and it is explained in more details.
Other details from the Letter, he confirmed the world first of Turn 9's completing goes to Order of the Blue Garter, once again achieving the world first for the hardest content in FFXIV:ARR. The Chinese version is coming along, so we can likely expect another influx of players to the game when that hits China. The next fan event and LIVE Letter is being prepared.
