Square Enix announced yesterday that they would be turning the servers back on for the original version of the game, as reported earlier. The conditions remain the same as they will keep an eye on the player base logging into this part of the game. So long as 30% of the player base remains logged into the servers they will keep the servers live. It is unknown how this number will be affected when "A Realm Reborn" is released and the player base likely increases beyond their current numbers.
In addition to bringing the servers back, a few changes have been made to the game. The game content is pulling back to patch 1.23b, which was released on September 13. Some adjustments have been made as well, the anima recovery rate was increased, gear repair costs are now 1 gil, there is a chance to gain a job-specific weapon when logging in when players logged out at an inn room and the requirements for “Bowl of Embers (Extreme),” and for undertaking the quests “To Kill a Raven” and “Living on a Prayer” have been lowered.
This is only available to players who have subscriptions beginning at September 30th or earlier. So new players currently will not be able to access these servers.
