Thread: why?

    why?

I cannot understand why? In ff13-2 why on gods earth did they come up with the idea to make an enemy your third party member? It was an awful idea in my eyes and i cannot fathom why they thought this up. I would have preffered it if they had made the party of three permanent characters or a number of characters to change parties. What does everyone else think?

    Re: why?

I don't mind the idea of having a monster as the third party member as much as I do the fact that leveling them up was annoying. I had both characters max level before the story ended yet leveling monsters requires farming, leveling other monsters that I don't want, etc. I don't mind grinding, but farming is boring as hell. With grinding you see constant progress. With farming you might spend 5 hours farming for a purple chocobo and not get one. Then one finally appears and it doesn't turn into a crystal. >_<

    Re: why?

My guess is the "Beastmaster"/Hunter class has been very neglected since FFVI. With Gau being by far the more unique character with all his abilities, yet you probably use like 3 or 4 in the game (the only true good ones) and in FFV having the Beastmaster job that you never used. Even FFT had some form of Monster Catching since you had skills called "Beastmaster" in the Squire tree.

That's my guess, Blizzard just found a new unique way to bring "Beastmaster" back into the game.

    Re: why?

It was so totally what they had in Enchanted Arms, pretty much exactly a copy of that. It worked better in enchanted Arms though, because you still had a number of characters that you could use for the party so it wasn't a case of 1/3 of your party not being your characters.

I didn't like the idea though, but Id idn't buy the game, just played the demo, but I can imagine it would be worse to have to play an entire game like that.

"Everyone was so happy. 'Great job. You did it. You saved us... all.' There were too many smiles to count.
But now...When I look back... The people who should be here aren't.
The ones who should be smiling with me aren't here."

    Re: why?

Yeah it was a good concept but the way in which it was used i.e only 2 playable characters was just

The way i would have done it was 3 main characters and a A.I Controlled Monster in your party, i had serah and noel maxed out Level-wise without finishing the story, i never so appreciated that Crystarium level cap so much in FF13
