    Towns in Final Fantasy XIII-2

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum but I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new Final Fantasy because I actually loved the battle system and story/characters of 13, but I do think they could benefit from features found in previous games such as towns, maps, interaction with NPCS, side quests etc.

Does anyone know if the new Final Fantasy will include this?

first off, welcome to the forums!!

As far as I know, interaction between NPCs will be increased since now a big thing in the FF13-2 is branching dialogue trees, where different choices in dialogue will change minor parts of the story.

The "Temporal Rifts" system is a puzzle similarly based from the Cloister of Trials from FFX. These puzzles exists between the time rifts in game and solving them can fix the problems that are in the different time eras.

As far as other minigames, SE really stepped it up in FF13-2. There will be a new city/casino of sorts called Serendipity which is very similar to Gold Saucer in a sense. Floating high above the Pulse, players can go there to play slot machine games, race chocobos, and more.

The towns will play a bigger part and will be revisited throughout the game, but to what extent I do not know, I don't think players will be spending a lot of time developing the story through them like in other rpgs.

but thats all I know. Hope to see you around the forums.

Meier: Hey Pete, I said I started to, it just didn't end the with the same number of women. Then again this one is kind of on the outs with me if she doesn't straighten up and fly right so that means I will be back in it for the thrill of the kill. Got some in the reserves. Even got a rePETEr (<---- like that ay? AYYYYY?) on the back burner.

Block: I do like the rePETEr except it kinda makes it sound like you're going to pork Pete. No homo.

Thank you very much for being so welcoming!

Yes, I'm familiar with the dialogue trees from a couple of videos I have seen and they look really interesting! I hope the NPC interaction isn't limited to a certain location because 13 lacked so much!

It's great that they allow us to have an active role in which path the story takes even though it seems limited.

The "Temporal Rift" element that they have introduced seems great but sort of repetitive, we'll have to see how it goes I'm actually really intrigued about the addition of time travel though, that seems to be a really fun and interactive feature.

Never heard of the mini-games- Sounds amazing! I am actually seriously impressed with all the adjustments they are making. Thank you Square! LOL

I know, I am really hoping it will not mirror Final Fantasy 13, it was immensely linear and then you are thrown into Gran Pulse! I hope they actually give us freedom earlier on, towns were one of my favourite features of the game!

Also, do you know if Serah and Noel are the only playable characters? I heard that the original cast from Final Fantasy 13 will make appearances but I'm unsure if they are playable.

Thanks for being a great help!

The sites I've seen so far say that the characters that are playable will be Noel, Serah, and Lightning (though she's in a different dimension). Snow will be a guest character at some point in time, and you can recruit monsters to help you in battle.

That's all the playable characters that I'm aware of atm. Hope that helps, and a hearty welcome to the forums to you as well. ^^

Okay! I'm kind of disappointed that you can't play with other characters but I'm sure there will be tons of more features to look forward to

I've also seen screenshots of a cute girl with very short blonde hair and a lady with long purple hair, I've also seen screenshots of Hope. In Wikipedia it states that all the recurring characters from 13 will make reappearances (apart from Vanile and Fang who are dead).

I'm really excited! Thanks for also being so welcoming!

    I Hope there is
FF13 Was more of a dissapointment for more me than pleasure but
I Just watched the latest trailer and i am considering getting it
It looks like there are towns and also it seems you can travel to different towns as well which you coudn't really do in FFXIII
Also the characters Fang and Vanille are shown in the latest trailer so it is a possiblity they could be playable but not really expecting them to be there but with all this time travel lark possible. And i Already find Noel incredibly irriating but he seems to get killed by the villan. The battle system looks even more epic
But they haven't really given you a explanination to as why Sazh isn't there
But this looks better than FFXIII

Heh, this thread was made before the game came out. Of course now people realize that the world map/towns system was not used in this game.
