New Screenshots and Videos for Lightning Returns

This week saw several preview videos of the areas in Lightning Return as well as new screenshots. The biggest details coming out that Caius and Yeul are returning. Yeul is asking Lightning to save Caius, who still holds the Heart of Etro. There is also more of Noel, with a focus more of things from FFXIII-2 than the original.

One of the interesting things to note in these screenshots focusing on Lightning's battle with Snow. Snow has a black mark on his face and chest, which is probably a sign of something happening to him. The significance of it is not clear yet.

The next set of screenshots show Yeul, when she is asking for Lightning's help with Caius. It is likely Caius will have an important role in the role, considering the events of FFXIII-2. Lightning is also seen chasing after Noel, either before or after their fight.

The next pictures are more environmental with the ruins of Academia from FFXIII-2 as part of them.

More scenes of the ruins of Academia along with Lightning's fight with Noel. There is also a poster with all of the characters from the XIII series together.

And the video tours. The first area is the ark where Hope is found. Lightning will return to this area regularly.

The next is the Wildlands. A place more open and less settled than the other areas of the game.

Yusaan is the next stop for the tour. This is the place Snow rules and Lightning will be working as a spy investigating the area.

Luxerion was the first area shown off and frequently seen in the coverage for the game. It is a religious city and the people are very aware of the end of the world coming in the signs of the clocks that are counting down to the end.

Last is the Dead Dunes, where it is likely that Fang is going to be found based on past videos. It is a large desert where people are hunting for treasures.

Yeah, playing Lightning Returns is going to have greater meaning recalling what happened in FFXIII-2. I would suspect that like with XIII-2, they will have some replay thing to catch people up, but it won't be the same as playing it and getting the full story.
