My Over-Excitement For XIII-2

Awww, I totally can't wait for XIII-2 to come out. I was initially disappointed with XIII, but now I absoloutely love it. I know it didn't have the "traditional" feel we all know and love, but it still kicked ass!

Anyway, at my initial dissapointment of XIII, I felt that I was going to feel the same about XIII-2, so decided to not even bother looking up the official website, or look up anything to do with it online. However, yesterday I decided to sneak a peek at the website, and was absoloutely gobsmacked at the ideas proposed for the game. (Gobsmacked in a good way xD)

The idea that Serah is a playable character is going to be awesome, and the Noel kid with the two swords looks promising as a character. I love that the overall feel of the game will be one that is extremely dark and depressive. Lightning and Snow are returning. Lightning is just one of the best main characters in any of the titles, and although I despised Snow, I am looking forward to seeing what he will be like, as it is said that some of the returning characters will have an altered personality due to the events from XIII (hopefully he will be one of them).

The best bit of news about this game ... there will be a return of MOOGLES!!!! I am SOOO looking forward to this. Serah will have a companion Moogle called Mog

Taming monsters is another new feature, which people seem to have mixed reviews about, but personally I am looking forward to utilising this feature.

Also, there will be some sort of Clock-Based event called Mog Clock. Apparently, enemies will not appear on the screen and roam about like in XII and XIII. Supposedly, when you get close enough to an enemy, they will appear with a red ring around them, the red ring being approximately 6 meters in diameter. Depending on how long you take to get to the enemy, if you choose to fight it, will grant you bonuses or penalties for the battle. I am loving this idea.

Also choice of speech, options of "dialogue trees" as Wikipedia puts it, will allow you to talk to NPC's (yay!!) and pick what you say to everyone.


So overall, XIII-2 is looking like it will be pretty kick-ass, and will satisfy the needs of many fans. It will also have a more open-world based gameplay (rumoured).

Anyone else looking forward to these features? Like Serah as a playable character? Dialogue Trees with NPC's? Mog Clock? Return of the Moogles? Taming Monsters?

Pity I have to wait till 2012 to be able to get my hands on it :'(

Well, it's not 2012 exactly, it comes out December 31. On to other matters, I also can't wait for this to come out. I thought Serah was hot so having her as a playable character might be cool. I didn't really miss the moogles so I don't really care about them. I hope that they keep the battle system the same, I liked the battle system.

The battle system will still have paradigm shifts etc, but there are one or two tweaks to the system apparently, hopefully not too much though, I loved it too :')

I absolutely can't wait!! The only thing that I have doubts about when it comes to the monster taming is will all monsters be available, I like the concept, but I can't really see Squeenix letting us bring a long gui along for the ride. But then again, what do I know, it could be that we will be able to put that cranky turtle to work!!!

I don't think that all the mosters will be available. It would be weird like you said to have some of those bigger monsters with you. You might be able to capture the bigger ones, just not travel with them.

@nickness-I loved the Paradigm shifts to, I thought it was a cool new twist to the battle system.

I feel the same way. When you look in a FF guide, the bestiary usually has your normal creatures, your optional hard creatures, your side-bosses and your bosses. In the case of monster taming, I think that only regular random encounter monsters will be able to be tamed. There will probably be some pretty strong and resilient regular monsters to tame, I just don't think there will be too many, as this would probably make the game seem too easy.

By the time you have captured those stronger monsters though, there will be tougher ones to unleash them on. I believe that there will probably be a level cut-off point similar to the one used for the random instant chain ability. Anything under a certain level is up for grabs......something like that anyways!

I have a feeling that what you just said will probably be pretty much spot on. It's kinda disappointing, but then it would make a good little challenge if they had trophies/achievements for Monster Taming.

I would be surprised if they didn't add trophies/acheivments for it. Can you imagine the time it would take to capture every available monster? My head hurts just thinking about it!

Well, considering that it's a SE game and FF I'm guessing they'll definitely have some trophies for monster captures. SE likes to make there games a challenge so if there are trophies expect them to be hard to get.

No matter how much I may whine about how hard it is I know for a fact that I will try my hardest to receive every trophy the game has to offer.....bring on the pain!!!

Oh, so your like me, you complain about how hard the trophies are to get, but you try and get them anyways. I'm working on getting all the trophies for FFXIII.

I am soo excited for FFXIII-2. I mean playing as Serah,is what makes me soo excited first of all(I rly wanted to play her in the FF13,but..stuff happened lol ) Then this Noel,guy, looks..interesting lol hehe,and I am also pretty excited about the whole capturing monsters deal :3

Hmm, that would be pretty cool. If they ever did decide to do something like that, then I expect they'd probably want you to complete the game normally first, have transferrable stuff maybe for New Game + ?

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is going to be an alternate storyline of Final Fantasy XIII. The two games take play simultaneously in history but in Versus XIII, you dont control the characters you played with in XIII. Instead, you have a new party somewhere else in the world. The worlds are the same although I expect Versus XIII to might only have like 1 or maybe no places in common with Final Fantasy XIII.

I can't wait either for this game, the idea that the moogle will have an actual voice is so cute and that it actually says "Kupo" instead of being a sound effect is awesome Definately looking forwards to this game.

Versus XIII will be on the PS3 and XBox360 as well I'm pretty sure I read on the Square website. It won't have anything in common with XIII, no places or characters will be the same. I don't even think it will take place on Cocoon or Pulse. The director said the only thing it will have in common with XIII is the Crystal theme.

Nope this is a direct sequel to FFXIII, it's events are a carryover from the first one.

I thought FF13 Was quite good. I think they would do better to bring back the loot system from FF12 though. The crystarium was a nice idea for character development, sort of like th Sphere Grid. Wish they would allow you to have empty nodes on the crystarium though that way you can get more customization.
