This game is turning out to be way more girly than X-2 ever was. DRESS UP YAY :\
Square Enix announced that they will have an outfit for Lightning to dress her up like Aerith from Final Fantasy VII. Like the other character specific outfits, she will have unique animations that play when wearing it that are the same used by Aerith in battle. For Japan, it is a special DLC that comes with purchase of a strategy guide. It has also been confirmed for Europe as well, which means that a NA release is likely in some form.

Lightning actually looks really good in Aerith's outfit from FFVII, it matches with her hairstyle too which makes it even better. What DOES NOT look good on her is that yuna outfit that one seems out of place.

So having multiple different outfits that visually change the appearance of the character is girly? Quite a number of games all you to change the appearance of the character based off what they are wearing. This really is not any different. And remember this isn't simply a cosmetic thing, all of the equipment has different skills attached. So you wear different things to fight differently. It's not just a stats game with gear.
But yeah, Lightning works the Aerith look pretty well.

Yeah, if you played FFXIII and FFXIII-2 the gear is sort of like the Paradigms. You select 3 I think and then you can switch between them in battle, but they each have their own limit on usage before needing to be recharged. So you'll need to balance your usage so that you won't be out one of them at a critical moment. So yeah, it's a modified Paradigm Shift with the visual touch of the dressphere, but there is no animations for transforming. You just switch immediately with no combat break.

This whole series just keeps making less and less sense :/
Erza, yeah it is a fair comparison. For those that love customization it'll be a lot of fun, since you'll be able to change the colors of all of the cloths she wears as well. So you can make everything suit your tastes. It's a fairly active system, more so than that previous FFXIII and FFXIII-2. It'll feel a little like Lightning's DLC in FFXIII-2, but with a lot more options.

I don't mind costumes so much. They're just an option and I'm sure the game can be played without the DLC.
I still need to finish FFXIII-2, but I'm looking forward to this. I think she looks pretty badass in the SOLDIER outfit, but I'm not so much digging the Aeris costume. I wouldn't mind a whole range of past FF title costumes, so long as they're cheap. 79p is still pretty steep for something only I'll see.
That request usually translates into more FF7 cameos in more FF games, unless I am proven wrong by square at one point.

I don't feel that Lightning does those costumes justice. I can rather imagine her in outfits like Cloud or Zidane. Hell, even Snow's overcoat would fit her well.
I saw that today you'll be able to get the Flower Girl outfit as a DLC; but only in a "Legends" collection for $9.99, which includes the Cloud garb that probably everyone who's currently playing the game already has. If they couldn't offer it individually, at least they could come up with another garb in the collection.
So essentially this is just another quick cash grab by Squeenix? There's no actual new gameplay, bosses or anything that would necessarily enhance the story?
I guess if people are down to pay for it, that's cool, but when the real demand is for quality FF games, not sequels of very meh games, maybe the company should listen.

As much as I'm an Aerith fanboy, it's still not enough to get me to buy this game. Sorry Squeenix. Still burned from LittleBigPlanet.
