Yeah there is a glitch, you just don't do anything for about 5 minutes or so (except buff/heal) and after a special move, Vayne will start blinking red, and you attack him and he dies.

Well....this glitch is as far as I have read. I haven't actually tried it yet. I prefer an all-out assault

That's what I did, really. Just attacked non-stop and cast Renew, or whatever. xD

I mostly kept Vaan and Basch, and alternated between Balthier and Ashe depending on what I was doing. But I'm one of those who like to keep all my characters fairly even in case the game pulls a FFX and separates everyone.

That brings back memories. I hated the days when the party would get split up. That is my biggest peeve in FF, when the party is split. XII and XIII didn't do it, which is awesome :')

XIII just kept it pretty split up until the halfway point, which I didn't mind so much. Made getting to the point where you finally have the whole group that much more worthwhile.

Know what? I totally can't believe I said XIII doesn't split the party

But to me, it's not as bad in XIII, because your party pretty much never come into trouble in ANY battles, as long as you use the correct paradigms.

I've only played through once. My main party ended up being Vaan, Balthier and Fran. I would have had Ashe instead of Vaan, but she levelled up too quickly and I was trying to catch everyone up to her.

I usually alternate between all six characters to ensure they are all appropriately leveled. However, my general main team consists of:

1) Vaan
2) Balthier
3) Fran

Aside from the obvious order of the party characters (considering these are your first three characters) i just like the team as a whole. Balthier is my gun/bow expert and my party leader mainly. Vaan provides physical support by Stealing from enemies and then attacking them with either daggers, poles or katanas. Fran provides magical support with a variety of white and green magicks to help buff the party's defences and augments their strengths while at the same time using certain magicks (such as Reflect and Bubble) to further provide additional support. I also keep a spare bow handy in case i need to switch her to a ranged physical attacker. Other than that, she uses mainly staves.

Well my This was my Party setup :-

Ashe(Party Leader) - She was my overall sorceress she would deal heavy damage with her magicks and great healing and her MP was quite gd too

Basch - He was a heavy attacker dealing great physical damage so he was the close range attacker

Fran - She was great attacker as well but could also help out with healing etc so she was a knight who had great healing capaablities

Never changed this team worked for me through the whole game

My party was usually set up with:

Ashe- Party leader
Vaan- pretty much my attack guy
Fran- my healer and long distance run away cause I'm gonna die chick

Balthier often saved my Arse because for some unknown reason when everyone else would die he would somehow survive and be able to get away. Weird but I rolled with it. XD I pretty much kept Vaan in my party because I have this weird thing about taking the main character out of my party... >>;
