What level should I be?

I was basically wondering what level I should be to go into that big ship to find Princess Ashe. Vaan is level 13 and the other characters are 13 14 and 12 I think. I saved two files in case I can't get out of here at this level. Is that a good level to be or should it be higher? =o

Should be fine, spend time in there to level up though. It's good to grind in FFXII. Just run through the security parts and just kill kill kill.

Actually, I think that was the level I was at then, too. Early on, if you're having trouble, just use Quickenings to end things quickly. =3

That sounds fine to me.

The enemies in the Leviathan range from about levels 9-12, so you could stand a decent chance against them. I would only get my levels higher if I wanted to make sure that I could breeze past this area with no problems, but that's your call to make. I think you'll be okay with the levels you have your characters now.

It's good that you have a save file that takes place before you go on the ship, because you can't turn back once you're on it. You gotta keep moving forward until you retrieve Ashe and escape.

I like going by how much LP I get rather then my level. Make a goal on what to earn through LP instead of a level.

That's up to you to decide. Like I said, look for some type of magic, or weapon or even quickening you want to get to. I don't know since I don't know what you have. All up to you.

To be honest, I managed just fine going through the place and killing whatever I saw, never going back to farm levels. I think if you can defeat the boss without much trouble, you're set to continue the game as is. It's far later that levels really matter, but even then, equipment is your best friend.

I used that area to get each of my characters to atleast one of their quickening locations or close to where I knew a summon would pop up next. Also took advantage of it to get some extra LP for the character augments.

its FFXII's equivalent of an overdrive or limit break. they're 50 LP each and you can have up to 3 on each character. just move the cursor around the license board and you'll see them...they're on the edges.

Look at the end of any License Board. You will see a skill for 50 LP should say quickenings. Get everyone with one is nice when you get 2 on each character it's when you begin to get better, and then 3 even better. Pretty much, quickenings, are your limit breaks. They just use up all your mana. You can chain them, when you do it, Press I R2 I think (been awhile) and it will shuffle it, when you see Triangle, O or X with a characters name you press that button. The higher the chain, the more dmg. They are very helpful early on.

I was gonna suggest levels for the areas so here it goes:

Rabanastre - 4 / 4
Waterway - 5
Palace - 5(No battles here)
More Waterway - 5 / 6 / 6
Gaurds - 6 / 7 / 7
Firemane - 8 / 9 / 9 / ?(Guest Level)
Nalbina Dungeon - 8 / 9 / 9
Barheim Passage - 9 / 10 / 10 / 11
Estersand - same as Passage
Lhusu Mines - 11 / 12 / 12 / ??(Basch, I'd keep him lowest level possible._.)
Leviathan - 12 / 13 / 13 / ?? / 14 and thats it.

I always was around 15 or higher when I got there because i spend time doing side events and just leveling and loot farming. But youll probly get to 15 if you run around there long enough, besides the enemies are easy enough to defeat as long as you work on getting your Battle Lore augments.

Then levels you have there should be sufficient but if you want to level up a little stay near the entarance to the start of this part and intentionally run into one of the laser beam guarded doorways. A load of guards will come and have a go, defeat them then go back to the save point and heal, repeat until you are satisfied this is what my gf did when she got stuck on this bit.
