GF and ships

im just wondering y final fantasy 12 named some ships after GF in final fantasy 8

Ifrit
Shiva
Behumat
Leviathan

ther all GF's and ship in final fantasy 12

Those ship names are recurring summon names in most/all(?) FF's. So they have just incorporated them as ships because the espers were named...other...things, and they wanted to involve them some other way

It makes more sense in my head...

Lily's right. FFXII is just paying respect to it's predecessors. Shiva, Ifrit, Bahamut and Leviathan have all been key summons in pretty much all of the FF games before XII. Since they went with Zodiac names/ types for summons, they couldn't include the classics. It's a nice little way of saying "we haven't forgotten about you!"

I have to agree with Pete and Lily.They're right.Though sometimes I wished they would keep the original gf names with FFXII espers.Like Belias would be Ifrit and Mateus would be Shiva.To me,I think its sad they wouldn't keep the tradition goin,but still..ships-gf names,thats still alright with me.

I think that, because Ivalice Alliance is a strong set of stories and games in it's own world, the use of different summons are a breath of fresh air. Also I believe that with such a change in the series with this game it made the right decision by stepping away from tradition, the same way it did with the gameplay of XII. But we all know the originals are back in XIII, so it's not like there was a loss The espers in XII were all darker as well, and more mature, all having a backstory mostly to do with the realms of Hell and such. Oh hi btw, first post.

There is actually a ship named "Galuf-Val", after the character Galuf in Final Fantasy V, and "Val", the name of his castle.

Also, a similarity between the two is that Galuf is killed by Exdeath, the final boss of FFV, and Galuf-Val is shot down by Vayne(the final boss in FFXII)'s Mist Cannons :]

Oh and, I'm guessing for homage to older Summons cause their history and ruling of summons didn't give them time to use Leviathan and Shiva or whatev

I think if they didn't want us posting on a 2 year old thread so badly they felt the need to make a rule out of it, they should stop accusing us of being irresponsible for not reading the dast rule, and get off their own lazy butts and just delete the threads we're not supposed to post to anymore. Because it's sooooo important not to, if we did post the world would explode right? dum dum dummmmmmm. ;-)

The "rule" against necroposting really serves more as a guideline. In someplace like General Chat, it makes sense to close off the older topics, but there is no harm in leaving the ones in the FF forums open. Users WILL NOT be punished for posting in a thread that is older than two months. It serves as a suggestion to moderators to close the older topics, but it is by no means a requirement.

That said, DID ANYONE EVER TELL YOU THAT CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL?
