It depends on what level you are at the moment. End game, I find that Henne Mines is a good place. Though Nabudis is good for the 40-50 range, even in the 30s if you so wish it. The Stilshrine is good for money and leveling early in the game.
where is the best area to level up at?

I have reached the Ancient City of Giruvegan. I was not quite strong enough (Vaan lv45, the rest lv44) to defeat Daedalas, so I decided to go grind a little in the Feywood. I went all the way back to the blue save crystal in Antiquity's End, clearing all foes along the way. After saving I went back towards Giruvegan. When I reached the Edge of Reason, the Mandragoras showed up. All 5 of them, just like in the Cave Palace. They are very tough this time.
The guide doesn't say anything (that I can find so far) about this. Has anyone else fought them? Is there a strategy to defeating them?
Update:
I went back and tried to get them to appear again. This time, after clearing every area between Giruvegan and Antiquity's End going both to and from, all I got was an empty area with no monsters at all. I looked at my bestiary, and the Mandragorans were all listed as defeated and in the Feywood, not in the Cave Palace. Not only that, but there are 6 of them, not 5. They are:I know I didn't defeat them in the Feywood, so they can only be the ones I defeated in the Cave Palace. While looking at the beastiary for these, I was reminded of another question. What does the number in the "Need" column (and the column itself) of the beastiary mean?
- Deadly Nightshade
- Mandragora Prince
- Airaune King
- Onion Queen
- Pumpkin Star
- Topstalk
Oh yea, what Larick said. What exactly is the difference between a mob and a mark?
I was trying to figure out the answer to your question before, so I did a little googling. I never tried to go back and I never made them re-appear.
From what I could find, apparantly you need to kill 14 or 15 of the Magdragoras. Although the Deadly Nightshade are the little tomato-like guys you encounter when you enter the South Feywood. I hated those little buggers. Smoked my ass because I wasn't leveled enough to take them on in numbers. Anyways, so I'm pretty sure the "need" column is how many more of them you need to kill in order to complete your beastiary.
I'm pretty sure, although not 100% that the difference between a mark and a mob is that marks are solitary (ie, when you hunt the white mousse) and mobs are groups (ie, when you take on trying to complete the mandragoras for your bestiary).
Again, I'm not quite sure if that's what it is, so please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
i have sold my great serpent skin that i got from hunting a mark in henne mine at bhujerba....
is that mean i can't complete the side quest about a sick man at eastersand?
if that's true, how can i got the key to barheim passage?
does anyone know what level i should be at by the time im at the demon wall?

I was at level 20-21 when I first got there. By the time I figured out how to fight the wall I was at level 22-23. I don't know that I was under-leveled, but I don't know that I was over-leveled either. And that's assuming you mean the Demon Wall in the Tomb of Raithwall.Originally Posted by rydia lover
The demon walls are level 16, so you want to be around that level or higher. Also, make sure you've only got your heavy hitters out for the battle. I set my healing gambits a bit lower (HP < 30), but you can even turn them off and heal manually. Time is obviously important here, so use items instead of spells and you'll be on your way!!
Who is the character with the best "Mage" Potential?? Ashe, Fran or Penelo??
I am really fascinated with magics and such, and i'm just at around level 15-16 or so, so i haven't got both ashe and penelo. ohh yeah, who will i get first? ashe or penelo?
QUESTION!!!
I have all my characters at level 61-62, I have the License board completed, and I am about to go to the lighthouse or something....
I am missing 4 spells. I believe they are Flare, Ardor(?), Hastega and either Scourge or scathe.
Why can't I find them???
Do I have to progress the story, or did i totally miss them?

I believe you can buy Hastega from the merchant at the village at the southern riverbank of the Estersand where the gate crystal is. Sorry, but I'm not sure about the other magicks though...
@Plastik Assasin:
You're on your way to Pharos. I think after progressing through that part of the game, you can get some good spells. I don't remember which spells exactly to buy but the places you can buy the good spells is at the Barheim Passage at that merchant when you first came there, the hidden merchant at the Nechrohol at Nabudis, and I think you can get Renew at the Westersand with that merchant there too. Hope this helps.
Ok i need help finding some weapons.
I need to know where i can find the Zodaic Spear and the Ultima Blade.
Can someone help me?

Thanks guys. Appreciate the help!
One last thing. How important is the Genji armor?
I just finished the first battle w/ Gilgamesh and apparently I missed out. OOPS.
Is it worth restarting a 90 hour game, or is it overrated? Lemme know.

Hey, i went everywhere through the necrohol of nabudis and the nabraeus deadlands and i didnt really get anything out of it but that cool hidden shop that i bought pretty much everything at, anyway, how do i get my hands on the medallions needed to get into the locked rooms, and also, what is with the shrine thing in the nabraeus deadlands that you have to go off the map to find? if anyone can help with either of these hit me back. appreciate it.
The Genji Armor is good but you don't need the whole set, the main stuff you want to get is the Genji gloves(increases chances of getting multi hits)And The Genji Body Armor(Increases chance to counter), the sheild and helm are good but they don't have any special ablites on them.
<img src=http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff94/Zaraxion1021/Bleach/Bleach.jpg>
Those are the 2 i can get in the second battle right?
My understanding is that I only missed 2 of te 4 in the first battle...

What is the relevence of the foot race before the "Who's the Strongest" mark hunt?
This game is full of side-quests that just serve to give you items, weapons, accessories, armor, even gambits. The footrace is one of them. I looked it up in the quide. I don't have it in front of me, but I seem to remember that there are 100 races. Each race has a prize for winning. So far, I've won 8 in a row. I haven't continued the race because I'm trying to finish the story before continuing te side-quests.Originally Posted by Starman

They're berries that emit some kind of weird stentch that when you fight Garuda, she'll be weakened, and easier to beat. If you're already past that part of the Sandseas, then iono. I didn't need to use them so I didn't...
I just bought FFXII, and so far I love it. However, I'm stuck at the Lightworks. According to the FAQs I've skimmed (I generally don't like to use FAQs the first time I play a FF game) I need to find the "Timeworn Device" which should result in a cutscene (after which I should be able to get a fuse from the merchant etc). I suppose it's the round thing in the middle of the room, but I can't find the place to make the "!" appear. Any pointers???

Hmm, well you should've inspected it first, and have someone i think Basche talk about the fuse being blown. If you go further down the stairs you should see a merchant. If you talk to the merchant he says something bout the fuse and gives you a makeshift one. After that put it in the device and it should light up everything and open the gate. Then go on your merry way, just remember to kill mimic's along the way since they eat the power and drain it, but after killing them the power should go back up some.
What does it mean (when you are trying to get the Gabranth sky pirate figure) when it says "Awarded for initiating every fusion technique."? What the heck is a fusion technique?

Hmm, found it now. I guess it was more a case of me having played for too many hours on end to see the obvious. But thanks for the help anyway, mateOriginally Posted by Keisuke Takahashi

Umm...if you don't understand the story, maybe you should pay more attention to the game when you're playing it...if you need a summary that badly just start a new game. It really doesn't take that long to get where you are so...*shrug*
As far as the sidequest, you can't get to the Broken Sands area until after you get the Dawn Shard from Raithwall's Tomb. You have to cross the river to get there. (It's listed on your map as "Estersand - Broken Sands" - handy, isn't it? ) It is possible to do it this early in the game but not recommended as the enemies in the area are around level 25, along with an aggressive Wild Saurian. You'll also need to do the Marauder in the Mine (Nidhogg) hunt to finish this sidequest. (DO NOT sell the Great Serpentskin it drops.)
The reward is the Barheim Key which enables you to get back into the Barhiem Passage. Again, not recommended at that point in the game. Unless you've spent an ungodly number of hours leveling up, that is.
Also, please note that next time you forget to add something to your post, just edit it and add whatever you forgot. Double posting is against the rules here.

I wanted to try go through this without any guides or anything but I do not know what it is but a lot of the battles seem to be insanely difficult. I am trying to beat Judge Ghis on the Dreadnought Leviathan but for some reason I keep dying, I tried the Mist Quickening but it only took off roughly 700hp and now half my party is dead. All I can think of is I am under leveled (Currently between 12/13, I heard I should be at least 15+), but there is nowhere I can really level up at this point as fighting five of those guards at once tends to get me killed as well. I have used all of Ashe's LP's but I obviously still have Penelo's, is there any Mist Quickenings I should try and get or I am just dumb? I do not really want to start again but I think this save is kind of messed up. I think I got a back up just before the mines but still I am not sure if there is anywhere to level up.
