what did you think was the most annoying thing about this game and why???
for me it would have to be the dessert castle....i got so lost and i couldnt figure out where to go for like a whole 3 hours untill my friend actually told me where to go

I never really found anything about the actual game annoying, so for me I'd say it's all the young people who post about it on the forums who can't punctuate and generally bring up issues that aren't that interesting to talk about.
Lmao! Che, you go girlfriend. Uhuh, uhuh!
Anyway, I think I got lost at the same part. Is it the bit where a room is basically split into two parts? Man that was annoying, I think I gave up for a few hours, then came back to it. I have this 'beaten wife' stage with alot of RPG's.
I also HATE doing Gizamalukes grotto. The monsters in there are irritating, and the bells just get me all fired up. I end up having a break halfway through this, too. That's just because it's a truly crap place in the game, though.
On the whole this game was great. Just as Che said.

Basically, nothing. Except the fact that one day a friend called and I didn't have time to play further. xP
I agree with Che and Hyz, there was nothing annoying in this game. Even if I sometimes didn't know where to go or was defeated, it was way more interesting than just playing the game and never having any challenge. ^^ I didn't really like the card game, though. I think I spent an hour trying to learn it to go on with the game. <.<" (And I still lost ToT) But I wouldn't say it was annoying.
9x-7i > 3(3x-7u)
Nothing really, so I'll agree with Freya, Che and Hyzenthlay. I really enjoyed playing this game, minigames and sidequest were fun and the only thing that I didn't like is lack of challenge (except that damn Ozma) but it wasn't annoying just made game little easier.
Sig and Avy made by Unknown Entity
I also think that there is nothing wrong with this game. Yeah, there were some parts that I got stuck on, but that just made me use my brain a little bit and figure out what I needed to do next. Nothing wrong with that at all, and I can't say that it annoyed me either. I would be annoyed if the game held my hand and told me specifically what to do at those moments. I like having to think sometimes. It makes it more gratifying when I actually figure stuff out on my own.
DESSERT CASTLE??? I don't remember any "dessert castle" but I think that's FREAKING AWESOME!!! I would LOVE to have a castle made out of desserts! I probably wouldn't own it very long, because I would probably eat it as soon as I moved into it.Originally Posted by Riot_boi656

Actually I agree this game was not excellent, and had a few mildly annoying factors, although I still like it. I just rank it behind 6, 7, 8, 10, and 12.
Firstly, the game is exceptionally linear for quite a very long period of time. It's not until disk 3 that you really get to explore in any way you choose. That's a tad annoying.
Moreso however, was that almost none of the sidequests were enjoyable. The tokens you have to bring to the bird cage lady, the auction house, Hide & seek, the jump rope game at the beginning? I mean if you want to make the case these were great, have at it, but I didn't particularly find of them enjoyable.
Now the ATE's were nice. I thought they added some to the story. The characters for me were a tad dry however.
Perhaps the one annoying thing for me was that you had absolutely no idea what Kuja's motivation was until the very tail end of the game. I think I would have enjoyed it much more if I had known sooner, because then i would have felt the intensity of what was really going on. As it is, I just didn't feel any real sympathy for anybody other than Vivi for 95% of the game.

The only thing for me is that random battles/encounters seemed way more frequent IX.. I usually don't mind but in this game, at times it got on my nerves.
The worst thing in any RPG is having random battles when you are trying to figure out a puzzle of some sort. Especially when you are having a hard time. I was so surprised when there were no random battles in the Cloister Of trials in FFX when I played for the first time.
But none the less FF IX is one of my favorites :3 FFX too.

The complete uselessness of the guide and the fact that I had no internet access when this game first came out, then when i DID have access, playonline was just, not there anymore
I worked it all out for myself in the end anyway, but that's beside the point, what's the point in a stupid guide thats not got everything in it. I get the guides so I can 100% the game on my second run through ]:<

Nah Hyz, playonline was a website created by Square Enix at the time as a supplement for the Official FF9 Strategy guide, from what I was told it went a little more in-depth then the guide with various parts of the game. It was made because if everything was marked down in the Official Strategy guide, then the book would probably be bigger than the bible, lol.
but one thing that kinda got on my nerves was how slow-paced the battles were compared to the other Final Fantasy games. I didn't mind the battle rate, but the fights just seemed to take forever. Also, I didn't really care for the trance system and all it's randomness. It didn't ever happen when you wanted it to, and had limited usefulness.

hahas, updated July 28th (oldie but goodie!):
I found Amarant to be the most Annoying Character. What was he even doing? He just stumbles in at the end and kinda hangs out? OK. I didn't get it.
I found the first two disks to be extremely linear despite appearances. It felt like FF 7 & 8, but there really wasn't a lot outside of moving to Lindblum. Then having to do the hunt. Then having to move to the caves. then having to go to Clerya.
The first time that I ever played (God, which was like 10 years ago) I didn't understand much. I also wasn't too big on reading text boxes back then. I also believed magic was all the rage.
So when I hit Olivert, I didn't realize that there was no magic and brought along Vivi, Dagger, and Eiko.
Restarting from Disk 3 is not a fun experience.
Another thing was that damn FROG CATCHING. I thought Quina would get something all powerful from getting all the frogs, so I spent DAYS chasing the little buggers in circles, then lost to Quale.
Nope, im thinking playonline, that was like, an online guide for FFIX. It made the chocographing a pain in the arse. Oh how it took me hours of Kweh'ing to find that goddamned ocean chocograph *shakes fist*
Also, moogle mail. Oh my god. I got my hair off with this big time first time I played, to the fashion that I have written the location of every damned moogle down in my note book. Never will I ever be foiled trying to find them little mofos again. I was doing my nut. And you can imagine my disgruntlement when I got the most lousy award ever.....Artemicion is the shit though, gotta love that little dude
Oh, right. I missunderstood you. Sorry about that. I have a guide that specifically tackles those parts. I got it free in a magazine, it's not all that big either. Then again, it doesnt have actual game inside there just stuff like weapons, chocograph, cards etc. THough by the time i got it I'd done most of it.
I agree, Rocky. You ahould have been able to carr the trance bar to the next battle at least. It was impossible to control, that was a bad point I'll admit.

The game had its flaws, but they all did to be honest, i didn't like the way the characters were really cartoon-like, but thats just personal preference.
And i agree about the punctuation. Shocking!

I found the compulsory ATEs annoying, because I just wanted to get on with the game!
I loved the FFVI way of learning skills, and how they were learned through the weapons and armor. The only problem I had with that was that sometimes your life would be a TON easier if you had a certain skill going into a boss battle, but you could only learn it from a crap weapon. You'd have to fight mindless battles just to get this one skill, so you could have it AND use your best weapon for the fight.
The other problem I had with the game was that it seemed a little cliche at points. It's more of a problem with all rpg's that have the medieval flair. Let's have the desert level, let's have the oddly futuristic place, the casino town, the rain town, etc. To be fair though, the Black Mage village was incredible though. The entire area was both brilliantly done and sad, but not contrived.
And I agree with Dodie, a dessert castle would be glorious.

Hey now, I love the casino towns in Dragon Quest games - they're so much fun. Was there even a real casino town in FFIX? I'm guessing a person may refer Treno to be such but not on the same level as a casino town in Dragon Quest.
For some reason I haven't been able to get Amarant to be an effective fighter. I don't know why but he usually lacks in the magic defense department. I may have done something wrong - most likely - and I will try to figure out to make him great during my third playthrough. That has to be the most annoying thing about this game for me, granted it is something that was probably more my fault - less Amarant naturally sucks at magic defense.
I also found Steiner's loyalty to the Queen and how she can do no wrong - the unquestioning loyalty (a.k.a., unquestioning servitude) to be annoying as I'm more for having an independent thinking mind. But good Ol' Rusty got better as the game progressed.
That's it for now - mortals.
Main series FFs Beaten - FF: 4x, FFII: 3x, FFIII: 3x, FFIV: 3x, FFV: 3x, FFVI: 4x, FFVII: 5x, FFVIII: 5x, FFIX: 3x, FFX: 4x, FFXII: 3x, FFXIII: 2x, FFXV: 2x
Okay then, I lied, there was something else that annoyed the hell out of me. That person was Steiner and for the very same reasons. That and his constant distrust of Zidane. Okay, you don't like the guy, we get it.
Yeah, he did get better sometime in Disk 3, but he just plain pissed me off before that.
the part that annoyed me was the cloister of trials in bavelle it took me like 2 hours i was so mad

Two things already stated above:
1. Trance system always sparking to life at the end of a battle.
2. Crap equipment with good abilities to learn on them.
Overall it's a great RPG, but those two things are irritating at times.

Ispen's Castle, I was wondering why my best weapons were doing so little damage. Made the boss fight in there a lot longer than it should've been. Later I looked at a guide on Gamefaqs and found that I had to use my weakest weapons. Which explained why I was finding my character's starter weapons.
Than there was the Final boss: Necron. I fought this guy for the first time two days ago, and god damn was he hard. His ridiculously fast attack rate and his really annoying attacks like Blue Shockwave and Grand Cross tore into my party. It took me four tries before I've finally beaten him. Steiner was in Trance mode and tore into the son of a bitch. When he was finally defeated, I was shouting and yelling obscenities at him.
Another thing I found annoying (not nearly as annoying as the last two) was the Trance system. For me Trance activates during random battles a lot. So I can't use them during boss battles where I need them the most unless I spend some time bringing the bars up again. Still, it's not as bad as the previous two I mentioned.
Other than that, the game is near perfect.![]()

Nothing in this game was annoying to me. Yes there were parts that got frustrating at times and places I could figure out what to do in, but that just made it more of a challenge. I can't stand an easy game. If I found I was getting frustrated at a part, I would stop playing for a little bit and then come back later and I would figure it out when I had a clear mind. So this game was just fun and not annoying at all.
Life or death. Nethire are consider to someone like me. For I am both. Nor death can happen to me, or can life. There is no other like me. For I am one with myself. Nobody else is. That is the way of the immortal. That is the way of Ulteka Mako.
Agreed,
1. Trance System could very nearly be considered garbage
2. No significant side quests or minigames
3. You have almost zero freedom to simply explore until disk 3 which makes problem #2 that much worse. You just have very tiny, limited areas, devoid of extras to explore, between you and the next location. (Take 7 for instance. You could play at the Chocobo Stables on your way through the mountain pass. Fend off the attack at the Moutain on your way to Junon, or explore the hermit's cave. You could head to the metalurgy on your way to Red XIII's home. In IX, you just walked out in a field, and there was nothing to do but go to the next city. I suppose you had Chocobo hide and seak, but I don't think that's counted among the best side quests of the series. That's just my opinion though)
