I have never considerd this before and I see your point and to be honest I have no idea so I agree if someone knows the answer to this thread let us know to clear this issue up.
...destroyed Terra, you are right, but only to an extent. He may have destroyed Bran Bal and maybe Pandemonium, but he didn't destroy the entire planet. As in, like how Frieza destroyed Namek with his Death Ball in the DBZ anime/manga. Terra didn't seize to exist, because before you fight Deathguise, Kuja mentions that Terra had already begun to assimilate with Gaia. If it was completely destroyed, then how can nothingness assimilate with Gaia?
Had to point this out, because I even got a negative Thanks for pointing this out. I'll probably have a bunch of naysayers but please, do tell me how I'm wrong.
EDIT: There, changed the title a little. Sorry about that.
EDIT 2: Nvm, don't think I can change it.

This topic has been up for so long and still no answers from the naysayers. This is the only place I'll discuss about it, I won't do so anywhere else.
As much as I like Kuja, I'd like for everyone to remove "destroyed an entire planet" from his list of accomplishments. He only destroyed Bran Bal and Pandemonium (and the areas surrounding them), nothing else.

It's the same case with Kefka, well, more or less. Quite often you can stumble on fans who claim he destroyed a planet, when he did nothing more but tear the surface apart. I myself am guilty of doing that, in both cases as well, though I never meant they actually annihilated it to dust.
Also, whoever gave you a negative rep for stating a correct fact, and properly backing it up is truly a plonker.

Thanks for putting the spoiler tag in the title...
...but the title itself is a spoiler...

Good rats are diseased take em out.
Actually, Kuja didn't destroy only Bran Bal and its surroundings, he destroyed most of the planet, as stated in FFIX Ultimania. As you said, Kuja didn't blow up the planet "DBZ-style", he destroyed its surface.
Pictures from Terra and Gaia before and after they were assimilated: (in case if someone argues that Terra was just a pocket dimension)

Quote from FFIX World Chronology – p.44-46 of the FFIX Ultimania:
"February 28: Kuja goes into Trance and goes wild. Garland disappears.
March 1: Terra is largely destroyed. With the activation of the Iifa Tree, the whole of Gaia starts being covered in Mist. The activity of the roots is enormous and many villages are left in ruins"
So yes, Kuja did destroy most of the planet. Terra was still there, but it was left in a state as seen when your party escapes it.

Yes, that information proves to be very valuable. People make it sound like Kuja destroyed every single part of it. But no. The best he could have done was destroy the surface. Otherwise, his speech with Zidane would have made no sense.
That was the whole point of this thread. I'm a Kuja fan, but I think people give him too much credit. Is like if I ran 10 feet, and people congratulate me like I just won the marathon.

Yeah, Kuja certainly couldn't blow up a planet, his powers cap at razing most of the surface of one. Impressive feat still, though.
Thank you so much for pointing that out Leon. I was a fool and always though he blew the planet to smithereens until just now. And the sad thing is ithat I read his dialogue before the final fight with him about 40 times too. I was pumping him up to much because he is among my favorite villains I guess.
