Wrong. In the long animation, the moon shines down on Odin as he charges towards the enemy and slices them in half. In the short animation, he throws Gungnir (his spear) at the enemy from above.

Actually it's not the Yan, they give something like 42,000 EXP but you get the most from them because they come in groups of 2 or 3 usually. The monster that gives the most experience is actually the Behemoth in Memoria which gives around 53,000 EXP.
