Does anyone know the amount of HP I will need to beat the final boss in VII. I am planning on having the following characters in my party:
Cloud
Tifa
Red XIII

I think they're referring to Health. 9000 is usually comfortable for any Final Fantasy game. I usually shoot for 9999 by the end. And maxed out stats.

I beat FF7 at level 30.
So there goes the over 7000 hp theory
No idea how I did that though.

Edit: Maybe with Pheonix Materia paired with Final Attack materia. It makes sense.

9999 i guess?
Lets put it this way. If I race through the game, I am usually around 52 when I get to Sephiroth. At that point, his most powerful attack will deal between 3500-4000 to everyone. So as long as you are higher than that, you should be fine.
Side note: FFVII has the best regen in all of FF. Couple regen with haste and you are basically unbeatable.

I defeated the game with like maybe 5500 HP, granted I had a bunch of my summons attached that decreased my HP. Basically you don't even need a lot of HP long as your fast. You can defeat Sephroith or however you spell his bloody name (i've been a fan for 7 years and I still can't get it right) before he uses Super Nova

Yeah, like they said, your HP doesn't matter that much, you could use the Phoenix-Final Attack strategy, or you could use Regen with Haste like Icyjj said, and it really is one of the best Regen ever.
