Rosa, Rydia or Porom

Not a fan of porom,...

Rydia is my favourite, apart from her abilities her character and personality is just great, love the green hair and her musical theme is absolutely gorgeous

Palom and Porom both kinda bug me...

I've never really liked Rosa that much either. Sure, she might be the only White Mage to weild a bow in the whole of Final Fantasy but I found Rydia to be much a much better character overall, pretty much for the same reasons as seanb.

I have to like Rydias story a bit more. She lost everything, but even as a little girl was strong. As for usefulness, Rydia is the best damage dealer in the game by far.
