Why don't you go try it for yourself and get back and answer that question for us all.
I've been wondering, is it possible to die in the giant burning house in Thamasa if you take too long? Because I remember in the beginning of the house, one of the characters suggests trying to avoid the flames so I wanted to know if it was possible or not.

I wouldn't imagine so, I mean, there would be a timer, right? The other events where you had a limited amount of time had a timer, so I don't think it's possible to time out.
SPOILER!!:
Im pretty sure youre gameover if that happens.
If i remember correctly i tried it out
edit: nvm i was thinking about the collapsing house

No, I don't think so.
Like already stated there would probably be a timer.
About the flames, I don't remember if you can even get hurt by them and even so, I don't think you can actually get a game over from it. If you can get hurt by them, it would probably just eat at your HP to 1 if you kept touching them.

No, staying inside the burning house in Thamasa will not get you killed. You can stay in there for hours if you want, traveling between the rooms.
The flames that you need to avoid are not the flames on the walls, but the small creeping flames -- those are enemies and will start battles when you touch them. Since there are no "random encounters" inside the house in Thamasa, touching the small flames will initiate the only battles you'll fight. Except, of course, the final battle in that house.
There is one door that pops out enemies when you try to walk through it, but it's not a difficult battle. I would recommend fighting a few of these with Shiva or Bismark equipped to Strago, so that he start learning some good spells. On that continent, magic is almost a necessity. Definitely explore the house as well, because there's an Ice Staff and a Flame Staff that would come in handy. (The Ice Staff, with the Blizzard sword, mean that two of your three party members have one-hit-kill attacks.)

I dont think so. I remember staying in that house
for almost an eternity, trying to level up or collect
something. I forgot. Yeah, I dont think its possible
to die via timer.
