Just thought I'd bring this to attention:
Source: Final Fantasy IV Compilation Set for PSP (andriasang.com, 12.13.2010)PlayStation Portable is getting a version of Final Fantasy IV. But there's a bit more to the new version than just a port of the 1991 Super Famicom/SNES classic.
The latest issue of V Jump has a first look at Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection. This PSP title combines Final Fantasy IV with Final Fantasy IV The After Years. The latter is an episodic sequel to FFIV that was released on Wii Ware last year after originally appearing on cell phones.
For the PSP, Square Enix is redoing the visuals and adding a new scenario that connects FFIV and The After Years. There could be some other new elements as well, but we'll have to wait for a followup report.
Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection is due for PSP release in Spring 2011.
No mention yet when/if it's heading outside Japan, but I'm pretty positive it will.

Heck yes! I've been playing this title on the emulator recently too. 2011 is definitely the year for psp rpgs amirite? I know its not coming out in 2011 for US but alot of good rpgs have been popping up for that month and year as a release date.
I wonder whats next... Chrono Trigger for PSP?

Another version of FF IV that I'll have to get and I won't have to get The After Years on the Wii - whenever I get a Wii. I'm really liking that they are creating a scenario to bridge the two games together. I am wondering if the update to the visuals to both games will be based on the sprites or will The After Years be getting a graphical update to the level of FF IV DS. I also wonder if they'll carry over the Augment system to this version or will there be something new. If Japan's release is Spring '11 if they do decide to port over - most likely - then I can see this coming to the west late 2011.
Main series FFs Beaten - FF: 4x, FFII: 3x, FFIII: 3x, FFIV: 3x, FFV: 3x, FFVI: 4x, FFVII: 5x, FFVIII: 5x, FFIX: 3x, FFX: 4x, FFXII: 3x, FFXIII: 2x, FFXV: 2x
Where's Dawezy?
Seriously though, it sounds like it could be good if it got the FFI+II PSP treatment. I hope they can touch up TAY as well, really couldn't stand how bad that game looked.
God damn, Square, you don't waste time. Definitely gonna check this out. This PSP title combines Final Fantasy IV with Final Fantasy IV The After Years.

I recently went and beat this title again, i feel less inclined to buy this now. I guess going back and playing the originals help. If you don't feel like picking up this one, just replay the other ports or the snes originals.

YEAH, WHERE IS DAWEZY >_<
No really.
In other news, I never did play all the way through FFIV DS, probably because some other awesome DS game came out and sidetracked me. I do a pretty good job separating my console gaming from my handheld gaming, but I'm like a chipmunk when it comes to attention span on either.
I got a PSP for Monster Hunter way back, so I'm prepped and ready to go for a potential translation...

Present!
The only flaw I see with all this is that I dont have a PSP personally, I'll negotiate with Sir Loco over the coming days.
Now my thoughts on this news;
I'm hoping they stick to the sprites for both the main game and the expansion (well, the expansion was sprites anyway - moving right along) since the DS - the jump to 3D was ok, aswell as the voice acting along with the upped difficulty made a epic challenge but it doesn't quite give me the buzz of the old Sprites.. or at the very least, perhaps they could include both the Sprite/3D versions? now there's a thought..
Barely any details to speculate though.
I want it to be is how they released I and II again for the PSP. Just made it look nicer, to 3D and other junk.

I sold my psp, damn. Oh well guess I need to go and buy one, wonder if my little brother still has his.
I have been putting off buying a psp for over a year now. I told myself I would get one when Crisis Core came out and I just never felt like spending the $250 dollars it required to get one with a memory card and the Final Fantasy games.

Ah some comparison screens have surfaced and I must say this is EXACTLY what I hoped for. Now I just hope they have some decent animation. TAY's sprites looked more VI-ish, but they looked really squished and there wasn't much animation to them. Though I can already tell these sprites look FAR more detailed than TAY.

Ah darn, I just bought The After Years on my Wii like, 6 months ago, and I still haven't played through the optional stories. NOW they release a complete collection for IV on PSP. Dang it and it looks good too! And I want a FFVI gorgeous remake!
Oh well, I guess I'll just wait for Dissidia 012 then.

Looking forward to this one coming out, gonna be sweet!
PSP is getting some real love from Squeenix this year. I'm so glad
Even though I have the DS version, I will be getting this anyway. Plus with After Years it's going to be a must buy.
I love the PSP ports of the classic FF games. They looked great. I'm predicting this will also look great.
Amazon has a listing for a US version. Mentions something about having the Original SNES soundtrack among other features.
