    Re: Favorite Boss (not dragon)

    That's it? No explanation? Weak.

    Me? 2 fights

Ifrit and Shiva because well every time I do that boss fight I am under leveled and it's just extremely fun to do that fight...it's a tough battle imo.

and last? Kefka, because well you do fight after fight and when you think it's over....it aint.

For me it is Omega weapon. I like the draconian robot form he has.
Or the last kefka fight, though he was a complete pushover.

While true, he can also be one of the hardest if you are doing a low level challenge and don't want to use the Pheonix Down or curative items tricks.

For me, now a days, it would have to be the first encounter with Ultros. I hated him when I played through the first few times but now it is one of the few boss fights that I still have fun with.

The recurring battles with Ultros always crack me up, I love how he just causes mayhem to anyone he encounters.

I also like the Goddess battle too, but that was hella tough from when I remembered it because Edgar liked to chainsaw all of his friends when he was under the charms of the statue.

    Re: Favorite Boss (not dragon)

Bosses I enjoyed: Ultros (Except the Opera fight, I don't like fighting under pressure of time)
Siegfried: Totally reminds me of Gilgamesh. Hilarious the first time I did it. He attacked shadow and did one, then shadows dog came in and did takedown, killing him instantly.

Bosses I hate: Vargas. When I first played this on the gba, my left d-pad didn't always work so I could never use blitz to kill him. I had to wait untill I borrowed a friends DS.

Ultros was always an entertaining boss fight ... everything he did or said cracked me up big time. When I first played through the game, i never made the connection that every purple octopus i fought, were all the same Ultros ... I though he spawned lots of babies or something.

Atma (Ultima) Weapon. The music while fighting him is just badass. One of my favorite Final Fantasy battle tracks of the entire series. Plus, the monster itself just has an awesome design. The one downside, though, is he was a little easy, but that same creature appears in The After Years, only much stronger, so he's even better there.

Goddess. I always enjoy battling creatures in the form of sexy women. Plus, the battle uses the Atma Weapon theme, so all the better.

Chadarnook. Again, see Goddess. But also, the demon part of the creature looks pretty cool and I like how it changes back and forth between woman and demon.

Magi Master. I don't know what it is exactly. I think it's just the guy's look and the whole atmosphere of the place you fight him at (the Tower of Kefka's followers or whatever).

I agree... He was Pretty much the Definition of a Troll....

also the Last Kefka Fight was pretty awesome... especially when he does Forsaken... (killed me a shitload of times)

I think that I have to give this one to the four Tentacles in the basement of Figaro Castle. I have been playing this game for years and this fight always seems to give me trouble. I know the strategy to beat them, but the fact that they are fast and remove characters from the battle for some time can be annoying.

Vargas - first few times I played the game, I didn't pay attention and figure out his blitzes. In fact, the first time I beat Vargas with a blitz was an accident: I was trying fighter game move combos - left, right, left, A. For some reason, I've still yet to find where they tell you the blitz before you get Sabin. lulz.

Ifrit / Shiva - I've always been under leveled or improperly equipped for these fights (everyone using flame sabers gooooooo). A fun fight, but when ifrit unloads on you, it can be painful.

    Favorite Boss - Ultros:
the comic relief was really well received by me. I enjoyed facing him in the fights we had.

I finally learned this in the game after my 5th or 6th time dying to this boss. During the battle, there is a random chance a dialogue bubble will appear and tell you the command for Pummel.

For me, I liked facing Dadaluma. As a kid, I thought it was funny that Edgar's drill would go right through his groin. Plus, if you were under leveled, he would counter the lack of good damage with healing himself super fast, which made things incredibly difficult.
I also liked killing The Guardian in Kefka's Tower. It gave a sense of revenge for not letting Leo make a break for it in the chaos and for cutting off the capital from the rest of the world.

I love Omega Weapon for difficulty but Ultros because he is so entertaining!
Vanille: "Wishes can come true, but not if you just wait for miracles. Miracles are things we make for ourselves, here and now"
Lightning: "It's not a question of can or can't. There are some things in life you just do"

Cloud of Darkness: "We are the Cloud of Darkness...None shall stand before the flood of darkness. With it, we will bring the Void to this world, and your world of light as well..."
Luneth: "We won't let you! Not if we have anything to say about it!"

Cloud: "And if you don't tell us...I'll chop them off"
    Aerith: "...I'll rip them off"
    Tifa: "I'll smash them"

I've beaten this game alot of times, but don't know anything about Omega Weapon in FF6.*facepalm*

Is that the guardian robot thing that takes zero damage?

That's The Guardian. You kinda named it yourself on that one =)

Omega Weapon is the bonus boss from the Advanced after you've beaten Kaiser Dragon within Dragon's Den.

Oh, thanks for the info. Can the Guardian be defeated somehow? Joker's Death can kill him, no?

If you manage to get a Joker's Death, the field spirit doesn't move and you're not awarded with anything from the battle (no gil/exp/item). You can kill him within Kefka's Tower, which is gives a nice sense of revenge. He even imitates Ultros!

As for most entertaining boss to fight Ultros takes the medal, but I think my favorite bosses would have to be either Atma Weapon or Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is just classic and comes in a package deal with some of the best music Final Fantasy has presented, and that also happens to be the case with Atma Weapon.

Also, there's nothing like going "Yes, I'm almost to world of ruin..." and seeing Atma's sprite block the way to Kefka. As if the Floating Continent wasn't a difficult dungeon to begin with.

    (edit)

I just derpishly realized I mentioned an FFV boss. Still, I think Gilgamesh was put in the Advance port of FFVI.

Atma Weapon is a very cool boss, the battle music is epic and all in all it's the best boss in the game. If he could only be abit harder during the second encounter, that would make him the undisputed victor. Don't know if any other Ultima/Atma Weapon bosses could even compare to this one. I know for sure, they can't. The art style of FF6 is too awesome.

I agree with you on the whole art style thing. What made FFVI what it is was how it amazingly used 16-bit graphics to create something stunning, and Atma weapon was but one of the many stunning things in the game. If the music didn't make him the coolest, most intense boss, then his appearance most definitely did.

I still hold my word on Ultros being fun to fight. The opera battle, even though it was timed, was one of the most memorable moments of the game.
