4 thieves is harder then 4 white mages I believe.
Thieves only have attack and item really. White Mages can at least use some magic.
I did a run through using 4 white wizards, but I assume its something else

Yes, it would be thieves lol
Your pathetic existence will shut down. I will make your lives end in ruin. Fear me, as you fear death. Not a threat, not a promise, but what must be finished. 7 final arcs...
I think it would be 4x W-Mages. I mean thieves can at least attack for good amounts. To kill wit all white mages is a bitch.
Well, White magic can continually cast cure to stop themselves from dying.
There are "special tricks" to increas their attack, though Chaos will still hurt.
With the theives, you can't heal unless you buy potions allot, but since theives don't have allot of things to buy for them, you should have enough, but that also means low defense, which means more money for more potions
*gets dizzy and falls down*

I would say 4 black mages. they have crappy attack, can't cure themselfs, and they suck with no MP
SPOILER!!:
What you forget, in regards to the Thieves, is that they vastly improve when they become Ninjas. Which is the opposite of the Red Mage transformation from awesome to terrible.
Ultimately I would agree about White Mages. I'm finally attempting the feat, and it is taking ages to level. Doesn't help that it takes 4-7 rounds to kill a damn Ogre sometimes...
OLD SKOOL - A positive appellation referring to when things weren't flashy but empty of substance, were done by hard work, didn't pander to the lowest common denominator, and required real skill. Labour-saving devices, shortcuts that reduce quality and quitting before the task is done are not characteristics of "old skool."
In reference to computer games, refers to a game that had substantial playability without flashy graphics or eye candy. Old skool gamers appreciate difficult maneuvers, careful planning, and scorched earth policies.
In reference to role-playing games, old skool refers to games that tested players' wits, could kill off careless characters, and required dedication and inner strength to play. Old skool games didn't pander to the ideas that everyone is created equal, that all options are open to all races, that the markets were somehow free, and that a quasi-medieval society could have near 100% literacy.

Well, White mages have techs for their attack rating.
Monks can't heal either. No healing = bad outcome

4 Thieves is the hardest.
I'm saying it again.
It's almost like in FFIII, later on in the game, 4 White Mages is so easy.

I went through a play through with W-Mages, and Thieves and at the beginning the W-Mages where very hard to work with, but once you get some good equipment they can hit for a decent amount, the battles generally take longer, but getting killed is way more difficult. Thieves were very easy to play with in the beginning, but as the enemies start dealing more damage it is hard to keep up with it.
So I am changing my original theory, and saying thieves are for sure the hardest.
It is most assuradly 4 thieves as they are the most useless class in FF1. They were supposed to have the best Hit#s and run away the best however there is a bug in FF1 that prevents that from being so. The most effeciant team in FF1 would be 2 fighters and 2 Red Mages this will make the game a cake walk. You may already know but some spells are bugged as well as weapon species crit rates are bugged and the INT stat does nothing. If you want to play a bug free FF1 play Astral Esper and or Gronds FF1 patches. Magic is really powerful when the INT bug is fixed and Black Mages actually become a very powerful class.
Easy one!
Epic Phail goes to the army of thieves! Only light armor, daggars and light swords...no magick untill Bahamut...and that's only Black magick so yeah, phail!
a monk and 3 dead thieves.
I remember doing a playthrough of Final Fantasy 1 with just monks and it's one of the easiest things ever. Healing can be a pain but it doesn't matter if your guy's a tank. xD
I would go with the four thieves theory. I've never tried it myself but I never liked using a thief in the actually game because they seemed like a useless class. But, I guess that's just me.
My things:
Four White Mages would be quite easy. Sure they can't really attack for shit, but they have the healing magic - it'd only make battles a million times longer to complete.
Black Mages would be more or less the same thing, but perhaps a little easier. All/most of the enemies have a resistance and weakness to certain spells, so as long as you know what they're weak against, and have the right spells with a boatload of Potions, you're set.
Thieves would be much harder. Potions wouldn't be as potent as a healing spell (from my knowledge). But that's not to say White Mages would have an easier time, especially with Chaos - because the battle will take so long, he'll most likely cast Curaga, and you're back to square one. =/
Honestly, I don't know. I finished the game with a Warrior, Thief, Black Mage and a White Mage. Playing with all four characters the same class is one thing I don't have time for. xP
Any groups with Jus black mages and theives great points ppl
White mage sucks you say? I finnished the game with 4x White Wizard at a level lower than my normal team (Master, Ninja, BW and WW)
Equip the masamune on the WW that has the highest strenght, use giants glove to spam saber on her, then use a hermes shoes. Caused 4000K damage with a physical attack on Chaos. That is, on the GBA and PSP version. The only boss that I found genuinely hard was Malirith. Took me 40 minutes to get rid of her.
A team of Black Wizard wasn't so bad either, at least up to where I got (Tiamat)
I'd probably say a team of master is the worst. Sure they are great... when they are supported by other classes, but alone? meh.
I would have to go with the general consensus here - 4x Thieves would probably be the hardest to play with since they have mostly low/average stats and can only utilise Potions.
Although Monks would probably have a pretty hard time as well, since they can't wear most armor. But their high attack would probably offset it.
Spoiler: My TFF Family:
My TFF girlfriend who hearts root beer - Chocobo_Lover 17
My brother of honourable justice - Judge Magistrate
My Canadian sister who travels the skies- R.Kyra
My nameless brother of legend - Hero without a Name
My brother, the Gunblade master - Lion Heart
My supernatural sister of mysterious intrigue - belleZ
Black mages are pretty tough, especially on PSP FFI. Their magic does same amount of damage as figher's attack, except to all enemies at once. Damn, I ever noticed they were bugged until I got the PSP version.
