Game is saved yet always returns to beg

Hello Everyone,

I am writing for my daughter. She has the DS version of Final Fantasy III. She loves the game but after a long game play, her character dies, then she always has to return to the very beginning. She saves her progress but it never returns to that part of the game after she dies. She is getting frustrated.

Is the game meant to be like this therefore it's a game that's too hard for her?
Or is she doing something wrong and needs to save differently?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Is she saving the game properly or is she using 'Quicksave'? Because Quicksave only temporarily saves the game.

We checked her menu and her Save and Job are grayed out, they are grayed out no matter how long she plays. Is the disc defective? We bought it second hand.

At least now we now why it's not saving properly, we can only use quick save!

Hmm sounds like it is defective, sorry to hear. But yeah just remember to always quicksave before turning it off because the quicksave file vanishes after reloading it.

We did discover that she wasn't looking to save once she got out of the cave! She was quick saving before she got out of the cave and it wasn't working. Now we did the save which wasn't grayed out and now we will just wait till she dies and then see if it saved where we put it.

Hello. To my understanding, the 'save' function will be greyed out if you are in an area of the game in which saving is not permitted. The only area to my knowledge that are allowed to make a save in is on the world map.
